The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

If MBJ is being cast as Superman, then I have no problem.
If MBJ is being cast as Clark Kent, then I'd take issue with it.

There are more than one adaption of Superman, so if MBJ were to portray another incarnation of Superman (maybe someone from Kandor?) I'd be all for that, but I think Clark Kent needs to stay white.

All awesome.
Pretty and charismatic women, sure, but in case of Domino she just can't replace the "pale skin & black eye spot" look for me. Sorry.

If they want Michael B. Jordan playing a Superman, it better be Val-Zod of Earth-2.

So Cavil is out, we're getting a Supergirl movie, they want Micahel B Jordon for the new Superman, Matt Reeves Batman is different than Affleck's, we're still getting a sequel to WW, Aquaman will be out soon, and we're getting a solo Joker movie.

This how I feel aswell.

At minimum, he'll be in his early forties by the time they get around to a new Superman movie. He's a "no" for me.

The DCeU needs to grab Krasinski before the MCU does.

Emily Rhodes is her character name in Designated Survivor. She's Italia Ricci.

Doh! Think I just googled her name and obviously got the character rather than the actress.

On the topic of this thread, I saw a photo of 45yr old Josh Duhamel the other day and with the grey hairs at the side now, he could be a good fit for an older Superman if they ever go down the Kingdom Come road. He's pretty tall too at almost 6"4 and could bulk up.

I imagine Superman taking on a mentor role going forward. We’ve had the unsure rookie Superman, it’s time for a more mature Superman who is sure of himself. If Krasinski can stay in good shape, I don’t see any issue with his age. He’s only 3 years older than Cavill.

Well, that depends on when the next Superman movie starts to go forward and most of us assume that particular date isn’t coming any time soon. Much like the Fantastic Four discussion (the trudging going on there), it would be best if we didn’t start making suggestions until there’s something solid in the aforementioned regard.

I forgot about him. But he looks like he could play Reed Richards there.

Has there been any updates?
New videos reporting on the same news that's driving me/us insane, we still have Cavill's IG video that's still cryptic.
Anything new?

It seems crazy to say this, but WB should stop thinking long term. Stop holding back. Don’t save certain villains for sequels (Green Lantern, Justice League, and MOS all made this mistake)

Just give us the Superman movie we all want and don’t even think about a sequel until the movie is released.

With that mindset, John Krasinski’s age isn’t necessarily a problem if the movie goes into production within the next five years

If they end up eventually recasting, I don't want any of the usual names.

Put Zod in the first movie along with Lex Luthor. Superman can go through the same old routine yet again. Eventually Clark might learn some piano, ice sculpting and get Lois to bid on him. :o

Nothing yet :( Hoping there's some clarification soon... sneaking feeling this is just going to be Ben Affleck 2.0 until Henry's contract lapses.

Throwing out a relatively unknown actor Beau Mirchoff. He hasn't done much of note, but I'd test him.

I like when people introduce actors I didn't know existed such as that Beau guy. The names the bloggers throw around are mostly the usual suspects.

Rise, Tommy boy, rise!

Yes, at some point my stanning for the Canadian doppelganger went from ironic to real and I ain't even ashamed. Most of his lead roles are in French but I recently procured one of his stupid Hallmark movies and was converted. He sounds perfectly American when speaking English, has a great Supes voice and is charming as hell, y'all. He just has this natural easy-going confidence I could see really working for him in the role. On a side note, I always have an added admiration for people who can act fluently in two different languages, but I digress. Same height as Cavill (though for some reason he looks a little taller to me on screen - I think because he has a lankier build, longer arms/legs vs. torso ratio compared to Cavill) and one year older. In motion, he also looks MORE like Supes than Cavill to me, crazy as it sounds, because he has less boyish features, a slightly larger chin and less prominent nose.

I like seeing new blood but let’s move away from the Cavill model

I have recently started watching Lois and Clark for the first time and I have been absolutely blown away by Dean Cain’s INCREDIBLE performance. He was the absolute perfect Superman for the 90s and I can’t believe I slept on this amazing show for so long

I love his look for Superman and wouldn’t mind another Superman that had a bit of Asian heritage like Cain.

Obviously it comes down to acting experience, but I don’t think we should limit ourselves this time to 100% Caucasian actors.

I think Cavill is probably my least favorite Superman if I’m being honest

1. Reeve
2. Cain
3. Hoech
4. Routh
5. Welling
6. Cavill

Dean Cain is also of French-Canadian heritage....like somebody else I know. :oldrazz:

I kid, I kid. And I support the notion of not limiting ourselves to 100% Caucasian actors. Hell, I would've been fine with DJ Cotrona looks-wise; it was the acting and height I took issue with when it came to him.

A movie could def take inspiration from lois and clark, have lois and clark in peril whislt working for the planet, play up on the fact clark leaves the room when the news channel shows a crisis, the team watch superman on camera save the day, only for him to walk in and be like 'ww-what did i miss?' to show this a couple of times, with one time actually seeing it from Clarks angle, would be a great way and cheaper way to a show superman being heroic and doing every day deeds. It keeps it real, keeps the suspense up and shows how he can almost be in two places at once.
Then have lois get caught up in inter gang - have clark save the day but only to be held hostage too, we get some human moments, emotion, like the scene where clark breaks off the hand cuffs, but gives the impression he is still there. Clark is the real person, let's focus on him being super in a way we all can.

I too would be happy with an actor that isn't caucasian - if he looks like superman, i'm in. I have seen some actors from bollywood that with hair stylists etc could look the part... wether or not they sound convincingly like they were raised in kansas, not every one is good with accents.
