The HULK Thread - Part 1

I need to here him say the word puny again. And is Lou still the voice or you think they edited Mark's voice.

I think it's Ruffalo. He's gonna be doing a lot more talking than Ferrigno ever did.

The Hulk's voice sounds like an audio enhanced Mark Ruffalo, which I prefer. You can here Lou's voice in the roaring along with other enhanced roars, maybe Ruffalo added in as well. However, in the 'Don't be a Loki phone clip', that sounded like Lou Ferrigno saying Hulk.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just wanted to show how Stan Lee flip flops on what he says about character's power levels. This is from The Incredible Hulk #113 1962 Read the letter in the upper right. Anyone that knows the characters he references know that they are beings with abstract powers.

This is the Hulk I've been waiting for!

The thing is now, I think it'll be even more tragic for them to not take another shot at a Hulk solo somewhere in Phase 4 or whatever. I think this new Hulk (and well adjusted/optimistic Bruce) could hold enough interest as a lead character. Having a good supporting cast for him to bounce off of is also important but hey, that's the same approach Taika's taking with Thor really: Redefine your previously stoic and one note lead and give him a team to banter, argue with but ultimately kick ass with.

That's apparently the formula for turning public opinion from "ugh, another Thor movie?" to "HEL YEAH ANOTHER THOR MOVIE!!!!!" so I really don't think it's impossible to do that with Hulk.

So yeah, just take Taika's approach but with a Hulk centric story (which in itself I feel would be monumentally better if you go for a crazier story line from the comics, instead of the old "army vs monster" or "man on the run" route) and I think you'll finally have a Hulk movie that's a box office hit. Read it and weep Whedon, you thought he could never work beyond "a werewolf story" but that's such a small minded approach to the character.

As for the legal issue with Universal, well, I'm sure if there was the proper amount of incentive, the Mouse will get what the Mouse wants.

I'd love to see Marvel Studios and/Universal make another Hulk film. I'll say it at nauseam that the mistake Marvel made was going with a Hulk that can't express himself with words, especially when his diction has been one of Hulk's most likable traits throughout the decades. The Incredible Hulk television show was outstanding and that version of Hulk worked for that time period and show, which I still enjoy today, but I have longed to see a Hulk closer to one of his comic book incarnations that could express himself. The Hulk vs Army is only interesting when the viewer realizes Hulk really hates weapons and violence and usually verbalizes it...Really he does!!! He only entertains it when provoked and attacked for the most part. The original idea of Hulk was that he is a "Misunderstood Monster" who really doesn't want to hurt anybody, which Marvel Studios themselves have misunderstood. There's a plethora of likeable traits that Hulk has that have yet to be seen.

Josh Whedon never did understand the Hulk, but he's not alone. There's a lot of creators that don't.

I think if Marvel Studios is able to make another Hulk film they need to consult writers that truly get the gist and subtle nuances of the character. Greg Pak, Peter David, Jeff Parker and Christopher Yost are the best choices today.

Excellent gifs

"no team. Only hulk!"

Classic Hulk verbage!!!

The biggest issue i have with the TV Spots are that they are not released in HD. Because there's certain imagery which is just amazing to witness.

They are probably still tweaking the effects. Remember that first time they showed Hulk growling at Fenris, it was only a head shot. Now it's an upper body shot. They will most likely add hair on Hulk's chest in many of the shots we've seen.

The movie premiers in a week... so i doubt there is much more to be done in terms of special effects. It's just the way they choose to release those TV Spots that bothers me. They have the goods and they could deliver them in a spotless manner but instead they don't.

And by the way those 2 shots of Hulk roaring are 2 different shots. One is on the rainbow bridge and the other one is at water level.

They are HD on TV, but for some reason Marvel doesn't like to upload many TV spots onto their YouTube channel, or if any at all.

Most of the spots or clips are released through their Twitter account these days.

In regards to GammaRa's speculation of them still adding a *few* things (granted yes, they don't have a lot of time left). I hadn't actually noticed before but I think so far the majority of shots we've seen had him hairless, or at least its hard to tell. Whereas the body hair was actually pretty clear to see in the Avengers movies.

Oh man what a weird detail to momentarily obsess over but hey, it's a layer of detail that in my opinion helps make him feel realer. Like, if Bruce Banner's got thick chest hair and stubble on his jaw, why would him growing into his Hulk form result in him losing hair?

I just hope they didn't buck that for any reason in Ragnarok, cause then I gotta think "man the Grandmaster is really serious about this shaving thing I guess".

I saw it playing on a TV and it looked great. Yeh Marvel only uploads selected things. It's a shame but then again understandable because if one wants the spotless version of the movie then one should watch it on the big screen.

You can clearly see his "chest hair".

Great post, well said.

Couldn't agree more, we badly need another Hulk solo movie after the Infinity movies.

According to the IMDB they are still in post-production.

I notitced in the earlier clips the Hulk had practically no hair on his chest. With later footage of the same shots, the hair on his chest was more noticeable.

I wanna see Fenris first ravage The Hulk like a wild wolf would. They're relentless in their attack.

Don't know how they can just allude to a ton of blood and gore to keep PG-13 but man, I'd be down for a showcase of advanced regeneration for MCU Hulk through Fenris eviscerating him only for him to recover.

I don't know how possible this would be but I would love to see it.

Can't forget - an ultra menacing howl before we actually see Fenris for the first time.

Epic imagery. This showdown is going to be something special.
It never ceases to amaze me how big Fenris really is... putting into perspective the rainbow bridge and all... It's insanely cool.
