And thousands of people come out of the theatre with the same refrain,"that's what I love about the Marvel movies, They are always so Cheerful!"

Do we have an idea of how Marvel has budgeted this thing? I think I speak for a lot of fans that would like this outing to be on the spectacular side.

No idea whatsoever, but agreed. It's Thor, it's his 'final' film, and it's called Ragnarok. Going small/cheap is not going to satisfy me.

I hope it's not the last Thor film with Chris. Even if they have a plan to "retire" some franchises for the time being ( A theory I see floated around the Hype by some that don't want recasts for the current marquee name characters, which I am not for, though I get if Marvel wants to give them a rest for a bit to develop new franchises to equal the success of those film series) I have no doubt that if RAGNAROK makes bank like TWS or GUARDIANS or who knows, an IM3 that we'll get another film of Chris as Thor.

Ragnarok is supposed to signify not only the end of Asgard but a new beginning as well if I remember my Thor mythos correctly. I wouldn't be suprised if it was Chris's last Thor film. But I hope it's not. :D

I believe they've said that this won't be Ragnarok as we know it.

Regardless of how it plays out Hemsworth's Thor is still in at least two more movies so they can't really end that much in this movie.

Thor is one of the biggest guns the team has. You don't sideline him going up against the Mad Titan.

For christs sakes guys. I mean after IW films we may not see a solo Thor film for a bit.

They could give Chris and Thor a break after IW part 1 & 2. Then bring him back in a really big moment as a surprise to the audience. Maybe in another avengers movies during the final battle against Galactus (if marvel gets the rights back).

No official word. TDW was about $170m, so I'd assume somewhere between that and $200m.

Yeah exactly, something like that.

Also with the we've heard this film is on and Hulk appearing(in a supposedly major role nonetheless), 190-200m sounds right for budget

Zod... I so want to see at least one sequence of Thor and Hulk laying the hammer down, literally, on Leviathan sized monsters left and right.

Hopefully, I love seeing Thor and Hulk take down massive enemies like in Avengers 1 or the first Thor when he took down the Frost Beast

Hmmm...I suspect the budget would be a lot more, given the amount of CG required to create the numerous of worlds and their environment; as well as, characters and their abilities & powers. TDW wasn't not heavily dependent on such things, because the number of scenes was native to being on Earth and limited number of special characters.

Yeah Ragnarok is a 5,000 year Cycle. One that basically repeats it's self history wise, with very little change to the events.

Huh well then...thanks for informing me.

I liked the actor but this is a very good sign. Hopefully this means they're cutting down on the comic relief characters in general.

Next step: hearing that Dennings and her intern will not be returning

Let the Warriors Three be Thor's comic relief, as it should be

I agree. Kat Dennings is cute but I have seen too much of her.

This is good and bad. Good cuz I agree with the criticism that TDW had too much comedic moments and for sure the handling of Stellan's character was part of that. Bad cuz he's a phenomenal talent and in a dramatic capacity he can just bring it.

Also, yeah, let's hope Kat is also left by the wayside.

What if they plan on killing Selvig in Infinity war part 1? That would certainly raise the stakes if Thanos kills off a named character rather than a random redshirt or two.

Also if Stellan is only going to appear in 5 and since he's appeared in 4 already, he's only got 1 left. Infinity War is going to be two movies so that suggests Selvig doesn't make it to part 2.

Depends on how the contract is though. Given IW filming back to back is there a possibility that those actually count as one film?

^

Nope. Counts as two films.

I forget the details, but here are the broad strokes...

This is because, back in the day, a Hollywood studio paid the actors to shoot one film, but then split the film in two and released it in theaters as two movies to maximize their revenue. The actors, obviously, thought they deserved compensation for 2 films rather than being paid for just the one. And it turned into something of a big deal. Ever since, the standard Hollywood contract for actors, etc. has language guarding against this practice.

It could easily be a case where Selvig appears in part one when the Earth is attacked or picks up on some big sign that something is wrong in the cosmos (sort of his job), survives the movie, but there is simply no plot reason for him to be in the second part.
