The Hunger Games - Part 2

I haven't read the books, but I didn't really find the film to be watered down very much. I found the violence to be pretty effective overall. The lead-up to the actual games was tense and when they finally started it was a bit horrifying. It was about the implication more than the gore.

I just got back from the film and it was okay. A few changes I didn't like and most of the kills were different.

A little disappointed with the scene with Rue and the first death. In the book:
[BLACKOUT]the first death involves Katniss having blood spat all over her face and when Rue dies Marvel earns a arrow into the neck, which he is dumb enough to pull out. [/BLACKOUT]

Overall a decent adaption.

Let me get this straight, you're disappointed because they didn't show the deaths more graphic????? I thought the movie got those points across excellently. It doesn't need graphic violence to sell it's story.

The shaky camera ***** ruined this movie for me.

Seriously even on scenes where they're just talking the camera is shaking as if they had an old man on some pills who already has ADD to hold the camera.

Get a *****ing camera-stand and show what is going on.

That and some more graphic scenes will make this movie a lot more better.

And yes this movie does need graphic violence to tell it's story because its *****ing kids killing other kids for survival so obviously we want to see how they survive instead of blurring our vision with their cheapass camera work.

I agree about the shaky cam, but this movie does not need violence. Judging by the huge second week BO, it looks like the majority of the movie goers agree. It's the story of a girl getting ready to lead a rebellion, not some Friday the 13th flick or Final Destination where it's the gore that sells it's movies.

I never said they need the amount of gore that Friday the 13th or FD have, but they certainly need to show the murder scenes which means take out the shaky camera which in turn means that they will have to show gore since the camera will be focused better on those murder scenes.

And if this movie doesn't need violence then how the hell are they going to show the actual Hunger Games which is based on killing each other? ..? Youe xpect them to just talk throughout the whole movie?

This movie did not need more violence or to show it more. I had more of a problem with the implications of the violence on Katniss which is more important. I wanted an actual scene where Katniss had to face a choice of whether or not to kill someone, where she would be in the position to offer mercy. A perfect situation is when Rue was killed, she reacted more out of instinct that lead to his death.

I also wanted to add that, spoiler, when Rue died and Katniss was all mourning over her death it was really hard to believe he acting. I mean she only knew her for what a day or two and cried hysterically? Nope, not at all believable. And she goes on to cover her with flowers all perfectly place? She really meant that much to you?

In my movie version of the film while she's placing the flowers on Rue's dead body she gets an arrow to the head for not focusing on winning the game.

Katniss is balling her eyes out not just for Rue but for the entire situation she's in. I thought that came across pretty clearly.

Well, the way I took it was Katniss finally letting her emotions loose at the b.s. situation she's in. Rues death was simply her breaking point.

In Saving Private Ryan, you think Captain Miller broke down only because they lost Wade the medic? No. It was the stress and culmination of everything he'd gone through already.

Same with Katniss.

Your movie version is lame.

Nope. All wrong. All I see in this post is failure.

Edit: In fact, all your ideas on this page are terrible.

UH she cared about a little girl who reminded her of her sister who she volunteered for to save her life. Then that little girl dies while she was trying to protect her and she was unable too and in turn she cried thinking about her own sister and how she might fail her as well. Alot of themes going on that mirror each other. Plus the flowers were a sign of respect for someone who actually cared about her in a fight to the death because up until that point she wasnt sure if peeta was still on her side so she felt all alone.

Don't respond to that guy's post anymore. Hell, I'm not a huge fan of the film but that post was...uggh.

Not to mention that he's now banned for being a troll......

Why doesn't the media focus on actually fat or obese people when they talk about weight? When they talk about Jennifer Lawrence's weight in a negative manner they are sending the message that the only healthy weight is skin and bones. I guess this is what happens when somebody is be coming a big star, they will pick out something and bash it even though they pretend that they are not and are just reporting on the so-called story or defending the actor.

It's utterly disgusting and she shouldn't even respond to it anymore.

My wife and I watched THG over the weekend. She has read the books, I haven't. Overall we both liked it. The main problem with it was the actual filming technique of the shaky cam. That stuff annoys me to some degree....but wife can actually get physically ill when watching something like that on the big screen (it has a lesser effect on the TV screen)...so her enjoyment was lessened and the effect didn't really enhance the movie in any way for either of us. We both thought they did a good job of minimalizing the blood and gore.

Aint a damn thing wrong with her body

** I edited your post....because it kind of defeats the purpose of rolling your eyes at someone being mean and crude about someone's weight when you end your post with a rude remark about someone's weight ** **C. Lee**

I don't mean to defend, but weren't the remarks more of a critique in not accurately portraying deprived and malnourished colonies? I haven't read the books so I'm not sure if that's right.

I do fondly remember a reviewer stating that absolutely no one in that film looked unhealthy or hungry. :funny:

There were a few in the background but she looked alittle unhealthy but she was able to hunt food and provide and not completely starve like everyone else was.

It's a movie, they weren't going to hire a bunch of actors and extras and have them starve themselves. That is an incredibly unrealistic thing to expect.

I agree. These are actors, and they're hired to act, which Lawrence did it well. Although there are some actors (like Bale for The Machinist) who really starved themselves for the role, it is unrealistic to expect every actor to drop 30 lbs. for a movie. And Lawrence is skinny enough, anyway.
