The Hunger Games - Part 2

I dig that Catching Fire is scheduled already for 2013. I mean 2012 looks insane but 2013 keeps stacking up things I'm stoked for. Man of Steel, Ninja Turtles, Catching Fire, RoboCop, The Hobbit etc.

Even as a fan of the film I think the only category it would even have a slight chance at would be J. Lawrence as best actress. And that's stretching it knowing the Oscars-jury.

what is the scope of the second book? would they have enough time to shoot and post production for summer 2013?

It's scheduled for November 2013 and I hope they don't rush it. The end of the second book is definitely bigger and more special-effects will be needed overall. I was not huge on the CGI in this movie even though it was okay, but it seems like there will be a bigger budget for the next one. :)

ok november 2013 is ok. i like that.

but i would like the sequel in nobember 2012 :woot:

I don't know, I tend to prefer Billy Ray's writing to Simon Beaufoy's, at least based on what I've seen from both. Ray's style is more grounded and natural, while Beaufoy is much more Hollywood-ish. I think this movie really benefited from Billy Ray's touch.

I saw it again today in a much emptier theater. Helped me enjoy it more and catch some things I missed on the first viewing. What I can't understand is why are so many people complaining about Liam Hemsworth's performance? It wasn't bad at all. He's in the film for less than ten minutes. How can anyone really judge a performance from that?

Also, for those that read the book, [BLACKOUT]wasn't Peeta supposed to lose his leg in the end?[/BLACKOUT]

I would be suprised if shes nominated for an oscar, I mean she was good but not oscar good, I can see her getting a nom for a golden globe. If they get nominated for an oscar it will probably be for costume and makeup.

Im not understanding that either I also think its funny when people act like the film really upped the love tringle by showing Gale's reaction to Katniss and Peeta's kiss in the book katniss immediately feels bad for kissing peeta knowing Gale is watching. All the movie did was take her thoughts and actually show his reaction.

Saw the movie on Friday, it was really good. I didn't read the book, since the book is usually better and I didn't want to be comparing the two the entire time. Really liked the story though. The only real complaint I had was with the editing, it was way too close up in the action scenes, like Batman Begins, I understand it was to perserve the PG-13 rating, just wish they could've moved the camera back a little bit so it was a little clearer.

Yes, he does. But in the book, the lose of his leg is such a non-issue that it's hardly even mentioned. I'm just starting the third book, and the only place I can see there being a problem with the film is when he can get off the platform to swim, but that could also be attributed to his inability to swim.

Although I can't claim this is my original idea, what would you all think of Taylor Kitsch as Finnick in Catching Fire? It's looking like he sure won't be busy filming any John Carter sequels.

I actually thought that some of the Catching Fire characters would have cameos (I tried to pay attention to the other mentors). Finnick was one of the characters I was looking out for ....

I was thinking him, Kevin Zegers, or even Ian Somerhalder.
