Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 1

They need to use a lighter shade of red on the eyes to make them stand out more. Also, the cowl needs to hug the underside of the chin completely to cover up the neck. The gap showing his neck in certain pics gives it an overall odd look.

Has anyone used the name Daredevil on the show yet? The Devil of hell's kitchen has been used but I don't recall anyone saying Daredevil. So why would he put DD on his chest if he hasn't even adopted the name yet?

They have used it in the last episode in the newspaper headline. Then he adopted that name.

There's a great shot in the Affleck movie where DD is entirely in shadow but the lenses are reflecting light so it looks like glowing red eyes. They should definitely try to do stuff like that in the show (and yeah, make the eyes brighter red).

Agreed. Really I think the suit just needs to hug the body a little closer.

Yeah, I think that's all it really needs. If the suit onscreen looks like that concept art, it's perfect in my book. Though I do think they could remove the nosepiece. I'm perfectly fine with them keeping it; I just think their reasoning for it was strange; they said without it, Matt was too recognizable. Perhaps, but I think we can suspend disbelief here just a bit; I mean, we're talking about a genre where domino masks and eyeglasses can conceal one's identity. :D

Yes we're all aware of what nose guards do.

If I have to sacrifice some pointless nod to realism like that to make him look more like Daredevil then so be it. I appreciate added details that make the world more plausible but not when it's actively screwing up the characters look as it is here.

I'm with you man. The fan boy in me just wants to see his nose, like the comics, regardless of how practical a nose cover is. If we want to talk practical, why not just completely cover his face to hide his identity and add extra protection to his face and jawline? If we really discuss what a practical street vigilante costume would look like, we could be here all day. This is still a comic book adaptation not a true to life documentary.

That being said, I can live the costume as it stands now.

Same, if changes are made for Seaeon 2 cool. But if they decide to stick with the costume as it is for a little longer, I can live with that.

BTW, the leaks of Civil War footage with the Black Panther's costume shows it's possible to pull off something similar with Daredevil's comic costume and have it look badass.

You know when the concept art of BP went online I was thinking DD might have the same approach even with the head piece where the face is totally covered.

BP's always had his entire face covered though.

He did have a period of time when his mouth was exposed.
but DD never had a full mask. Except in noir i guess.

Solid.

The costume needs some pretty drastic improvements. I pray they are touching it up for the second season, since we'll be seeing much more of it.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I wish he'd wear his old black costume again... That coming from a guy who absolutely hated the idea of seeing him wear it for a whole season. But the truth is, they pulled it off and the costume looked fantastic. Seeing him wear his iconic suit now is a bit bitter-sweet, because it kinda restricts his movement, which is something that really made the character stand out in the first season.

He should've had a red version of the black costume to start with. That would've avoided the comparisons with the Trial of the Incredible Hulk.

And now Iron Fist better have a mask like DD's mask for the first season. It was basically an Iron Fist mask but just in black. If they can't get that right for him now, then I don't know what to say.

Plus, I kind of like to think that Daredevil is a member of the Bloods ;)

Cool the horns look like they can double as a rack to hold his billy-clubs.
Brilliant!

Where do his clubs go on that costume? I don't see a harness or holster.

There were only a small handful of people harping on this fact, most notably you. If it weren't for you going on and on no one would care that his black suit appeared in some crap movie from decades ago that no one saw.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, just pointing out you were making the biggest stink about his suit. I will give you credit, at least you are consistent making noises about everyone's outfits however tiresome it becomes.

HAHA no. I'm just curious, show of hands please, how many people knew of the black suit before the Netflix series? I didn't nor do I care that it was recycled. In fact, Norek, in a comment above, admits being wrong pre-judging the suit before seeing it in action. It just seems like the suits previous use in an obscure movie is such a minor thing to be going on about.

But seriously, costuming is Dark Raven's thing. Raven is very good at finding pictures and cool looks for the characters. But sometimes he's like a dog that won't let go.

Put your popcorn away.
