Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 1

I think the anticipation killed my satisfaction.

I'd gone out of my way to avoid all spoilers of the suit but by the 10th episode I was eager to see it and kept expecting to after Potter.

So when it shows up in what, the last 20 minutes? After I've been up for over 34 hours and been hyping myself to see it I was bound to be underwhelmed.

They had him look so badass in the ninja outfit for so long that I grew to love it. That made the suit harder to get used to. However, Melvin did say it was a work in progress and that gives me hope going forward.

I agree the head needs a bit of work to be a bit less clunky. I'd also change the black to red (it is basically a reverse Fall from Grace suit if you think about it). I like the texture. I'd have no problem with keeping the varied textures to give it some variety and substance, so long as it is red.

But I want to see more of him in it regardless of how it looks.

I feel the same way.

As for the new outfit, I figure they must intend on using it for at least part of Season 2. Otherwise why wait until the last 15 minutes of the final episode to reveal it.

The red suit looked badass in action.
I wish there had been more of it.

I love the suit....I have nothing to complain about. I am old enough to remember what kind of superhero shows/movies we used to get to be so picky. I would wager that a small majority of the posters here have never seen the old Captain America TV movie...or the "theatrical" one for that matter.

Or (did I really start a sentence with or?) perhaps the quality that we were saddled with....one only need to harken back to films/shows like the first FF movie (no, not the Fox production....earlier), the Spiderman TV show....or the old Hulk show/movies.

Point is...for me, I see anything that we have gotten in recent years as a gift, because the alternative (as some of us have experienced) is depressing.

I am beyond ecstatic that I have had the opportunity to see a day when I would get a video representation of Daredevil that actually is worthy of a character with whom I have shared 31 years.

What wonderful times we live in.

This. And that fact that its an original design, and not the comic accurate suit I (and I'm sure others were expecting), it was a severely underwhelming, and didn't feel worth the wait.

Im eager to see if they'll evolve the suit. I feel like they will since potter says its a work in progress. But i think thee base of the suit is just fine. I'd like a tad bit more crimson rather than maroon but the maroon works fine.

the nose cover makes it look too much like Batman's cowl. They need to get rid of that. Other than that I think it's awesome. I really hope they put the DD on it next season though, now that he has his name, and get rid of the nose cover. It would be pretty close to perfect with practicality in mind then.

Had it shown up mid season I think we would have all taken to it much better and would have at least grown to like it.

Although I keep thinking the cowl looked derpy for some reason.

I loved the suit in the pics we got the night before the premiere. But I ****ing absolutely lovedddddddddddd the suit in the finale. God damn did it look good. Anyone else? Come on join me let it out haha.

I think the thing that's somewhat surprising to me is the fact that so many people like the suit or at least getting comfortable with it. I expected almost universal hatred for the suit.

Well we only had a short time with the suit. Sucks we didn't have more. Sucks we haven't gotten a promo photo of it.

I do hope it get's a brighter red. But I guess they didn't want it to look like Iron man. Also the stubble worked for his ninja getup........not feeling it with the DD suit. Clean shaven for that.

I loved it too. The posters didn't do it... uh... JUSTICE. Looks great in the proper lighting and on camera.

He looked pretty badass when he had it on.

I could go with it if they tweaked the red a little, maybe the same tone of red on Nobu's shinobi outfit. Speaking of that, I can't wait to see DD throwin' down against the Hand in the future wearing that suit.

I really didnt like the red costume. Very bulky, very stiff. Like TDK batman. I mean, I'm not saying I hated it. But it seemed to me like a "Alt costume" action figure, Armored-Up Daredevil! or something. Something Stark could put a couple computers in and enhance Matt's strength or something.

How do you go from that cloth-looking kingpin's suit material to armored plates? That's what I wanna know.

The nose too, rubbed me the wrong way, I'd prefer the open nose like most depictions in the comics. He does use it in his crime-fighting afterall.

I mean, I would suppose this also isn't his final costume. Still needs the "DD" and ontop of that, he's still learning. Hell, he wasn't even "Daredevil" yet in that final battle.

I say go for the thickness of the black-suit material but red with points and eyes on the hood and holsters for his kali sticks... boom done.

My only issue with the suit was the color. It needs to be redder. And they should do away with all the black.

After the long thought, I like it as it is for now. We know the costume designer's no James Acheson or Michael Wilkinson but I fully understand why the suit HAS to set itself apart of Acheson's S&M darker red leather from the 12 years before (again the color pallets in some scenes make too dark for its own good).

Who knows? Like Potter said, its not finished so we may see it evolve just like Cap's and Natasha's

I have no doubts it'll evolve. Because if there isnt a season 2 before defenders (which we all know there isn't planned to be) then the suit would likely evolve. Especially since the mcu moves in real time. They'll have time to observe reactions from the suit, observe complaints the actors or stunt men may have, and just take a second look at the overall design. Never know, it may very well evolve into something slightly different. but I'm perfectly fine with it. could use a DD maybe, and maybe change the shape of the nose and slightly brighten the red but im fine with it overall for sure.

I'm with you buddy. I thought the suit looked pretty damn slick, way better than I expected. Also you get to see how well he can actually move around in it. I don't understand where the hate for it is coming from.

Also notice at the end of the final episode when Matt is shown the newspaper with an artists rendition of Daredevil, he looks just like the Daredevil of the comics.

Loved the show but I hated the final suit. The black ninja sneak suit was way cooler in my opinion with that eyeless head bandana thing and the red trimming. I hoped they would have the balls to continue the eyeless look in the red suit but alas.

The way they did the eyes now it looks like you can see his human eyes underneath but he's just wearing the cowl like a simpleton so that the eyeholes don't completely match up with his own eyes.

The thing with Ben Afflecks DD cowl was that you could clearly see what was going on with the eyes. With the new cowl here I sometimes wasn't sure if it were the cowls eyes or Murdocks own eyes but he's just looking at me funny.

If it's a work in progress as Potter said then it would make more sense that the eye part was kept simple and based off of Murdocks current look.

Also like some other dude said if Kingpin can have an armored 3 piece suit then why can't Murdock get something less bulky ?

But other than that really cool show yo.

I missed the black suit just because we spent the whole season with it. I liked that you couldn't see his eyes at all.

I'm sure the red suit will grow on me. But I think the first time I saw it on screen, I was reminded that this was based on a comic book.

The cowl just reminds me of Night Owl.

I actually loved the realistic approach that they went about in the creation and evolution of Matt's costume.

Unlike the "Spider-Man" films, it's pretty realistic to assume that not just anyone can go about creating some fancy outfit to dress up in while fighting crime.

If I'm not mistaken, recent portrayal of heroes have shown the titular heroes receiving their custom made outfits from a third party, especially those who don't have the luxury of being billionaires.

Which is why I always found the logic from Bale's Batman to be very flawed when he said that "anyone" could be Batman. Being a crime-fighter isn't cheap and unless you know someone very smart and resourceful at your disposal, then it's not believable that you could create an outfit for yourself that would be appropriate for your line of work.

That's why I loved the details on how Matt bought the stuff for his first costume online since the materials that created his first suit could easily be bought on the Internet. And going from that to finding a guy who actually can make a proper superhero suit was a smart way to introduction the transition from his first costume to his more iconic looking one.

As someone who really hated the black ninja outfit, I gotta say I grew to love it throughout the course of the series; there wasn't even one instance where I thought "Oh that looks bad, this suit doesn't work". They handled it really good and ot looked great in motion. I will surely miss it, and I can't believe I'm saying that... :funny:

I really like the red suit as well and I think it's a good thing they introduced it in the end; maybe they will have time to see some feedback from the audience and tweak it for Daredevil's next appearance. I'm not saying they should, as I said I really like it, but there is always the possibility for improvement and change, as seen in every other superhero's costume in the MCU so far.
