Can't get an accurate Mandarin because of a fear of offending the Chinese? The solution was rather simple, make him North Korean. It would've been timely. Kim Jong Ill's better, half brother who was passed over for the throne. Brother Kim was furious that his dictator dad ignored him and his grand vision for a nation that would rival their neighbor China for a half wit like Jong Ill who depraved and degraded the nation to what it is today. That is why he calls himself the MANDARIN!

And what big picture is there other then to make the best movie possible? That is a problem I have with the MCU. It is sprinkled with great moments, fun, and a fair few very good films (heck I even find some stuff to like about IM2). But they haven't made a great movie yet imo. And part of me thinks it is down to the production line of films and perhaps a bit too much interference, in the need to build to a goal beyond each individual film.

You're welcome to that opinion. IMO half of the films they've made are what I'd call great films(IM1, Cap, Avengers) and the other half may not reach that level but they're all still good films. I'd say the outside Marvel Studios films have yet to make a great film and DC hasn't had a great one since Superman1. I think I'll stick to the guys who seem to actually know what they're doing in making these movies.

As you may have heard, RDJ turned up! Awesome event, over 1500 attended. Some sneaky pics (not mine)

Everyone got given a cardboard mask to wear for the "1000 Iron Men" (a shot of the whole audience in masks) photo, RDJ posed with his 'legion' (us) in the background when he showed up as well - photos should be up tomorrow from press sources.

And at the end we got given a version of the IMAX poster with "You Saw This First" and a link to the Russian version of the armor reveal Facebook app.

Footage-wise, same as the other 20-min peeks shown around the world but with 3 new scenes that I may or may not post about here, with reactions, in a bit...

I agree , I think it's great to finally have Happy doing some stuff like Pepper and Rhodey . The MARK XLVII looks waaaaaaay better and it seems there's flashback like in the book (the scene with Tony and Maya) or maybe it's actually Tony and Maya dating ...

Yeah, you can really sense some chemistry between Tony and Maya in that scene.

It's nice to hear that you had such a wonderful time. RDJ showing up must have been the icing on the cake for the audience.

"Sub Orbital Suit "Gemini"
Known as Gemini, it is designed for otherworldly journey. It has an integrated, removable booster pack and zero-gravity maneuvering thrusters."

It's on page of the armors thread. That's my perception of it anyway, "designed for otherworldy journeys"

Quick rundown of what went down during the evening.

18:30 - I turned up, the foyer was packed like a mosh pit full of people queuing to tick themselves off the invite list and getting the masks.

19:15 - They started letting people in. The stage was set up with flashlights and cameras for the 'Iron Legion' (officially known as 'A Thousand Iron Men') photo, the host asked everyone to fill every available seat. Security guys were saying that no celebs would turn up. People asked to take phones in if they haven't already. Also, free popcorn!

19:40 - All the lower (stalls) section completely full and ready for the photo, which they took. Expect to see it officially online probably tomorrow AM. They will send it to Marvel HQ as well apparently.

19:50 - Everyone in, and suddenly RDJ comes on stage! Crowd goes nuts, he does a little speech (lots of LOLs before the translation comes), and then he starts posing for photos with his 'Iron Legion' (the audience all in masks). Those should turn up tomorrow as well.

20:00 - Footage starts (btw it's dubbed)...like I mentioned, most of it is the same as shown at the other 20-min previews in other countries, apart from 3 new scenes. Have to say though, really enjoyed it, very fun and gripping to watch, let's say you mix...a Tony Stark story and associated Marvel/Avengers wit and humor, the drama of Nolan's films, and mix it Skyfall-style... Anyway, as for the spoilers...

First up, an extended version of the clip shown on Jonathan Ross - they should really put this film version out as the one shown on Saturday does not do it justice. [BLACKOUT]Starts off with an ad for Christmas trees, then cue static and Ten Rings logo fills the screen. Shots around the country in shock at what happens (every TV station broadcasting the footage), followed by the VP with a group of people, then we cut to the Air Force One with the President, as the test card becomes a quick montage of terrorist/protest attacks, which then cuts to a live feed of the Mandarin. We actually see that Roxxon accountant from the clip lying there in front of the Mandarin. Then after threatening to shoot him "live on your television in 30 seconds", the Mandarin pulls out an old rotary phone, and declares that the number of that phone has been entered and ready on every single mobile, and if the Presedent calls, the accountant comes out alive. The President is shocked at the revelation that everyone's phones have been hacked, and despite protests from his advisors, calls anyway. Once the phone on the TV rings, the Mandarin shoots the Roxxon guy and the scene ends.[/BLACKOUT]

Then we have the over-described scenes of Tony's mansion being blown to bits, and Tony crash-landing in Tennessee and the Mandarin getting ready for a broadcast.

Now for the other two new (I think), scenes:

[BLACKOUT]Tony and that kid Harley visit that explosion site (the bit from the trailer with the shadows burnt into the wall and flowers and stuff). Harley says a guy named Chad Davis caused it after something went wrong, 6 died. Tony notes there are only 5 shadows, Harley says that people think it's because Chad went to hell. When Harley asks Tony about the events of The Avengers, Tony gets a panic attack, and runs 'for the suit' to realise again that it's broken.[/BLACKOUT]

And the final scene: [BLACKOUT]Tony is chained up in what looks like an AIM warehouse with two henchmen (one of them is that ponytailed guy some mistook for Killian?), counting down from five, neither are amused. Then finally Tony's Mk XLII glove flies in, and he sets himself free, and starts fighting the two, as his boot comes flying in as well. After Tony asks "where's the rest of you?", we cut to Harley's shed back in Tennessee, where the suit tries to fly out of the locked shed. Harley tries to open the doors, but crouches down as the suit shoots through them eventually and flies to Tony. The fight at AIM continues, one guy is knocked out, and the scene ends as Tony points his repulsor and gun at the ponytailed guy, who surrenders with the line "Dammit, I wanted to get sacked anyway." (biggest LOLs)

And that's it, cue IM3 logo and lights come back up.
