IM3 tracking for 125+ mill opening weekend

http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/iron-man-3-tracking-for-huge-125m-to-open-summer-2013-movie-season/

EXCLUSIVE: The movie starts rolling out in major markets internationally first two weeks ahead of its domestic release on May 3rd. Iron Man 3 just came on tracking this morning and is looking huge: $125+ million opening which would match and probably exceed the blockbuster take of Iron Man 2 for a non-holiday 3-day weekend. I’ve learned that total awareness numbers are in the 90s while definite interest is at 67 which is higher than even The Avengers, which went on to make the highest North American opening of all time with $207M. Iron Man 3 also has incredibly strong numbers with women and Hispanics across the board. Marketing for the Robert Downey Jr threequel began early and its teaser trailer debut received 35 million global streams in just 24 hours.

This is great news IMO. Numbers coming out this early usually underpredict the numbers (Avengers was tracking for 150 mill). I epect this to open between 145-160 mill.

No, its the Disney logo. They want to make sure everyone knows their power over the universe. And theyre taking 22 seconds to give us time to realize and bow

The Paramount logo was powerful in front of the Avengers. I think they got all the Glory from it.

“For me, I really just needed to understand Killian in the comic world, but then let it go and see what we were going to do.

“Also, it’s about trying to find something new and creative, but at the same time I want to honor the fans.”
– Guy Pearce on playing Aldrich Killian in Marvel’s Iron Man 3

So I was just thinking about how different Killian is shaping up to be from the comics. Not a problem for me. Just starting to wonder what will be his fate in the film. I actually assume they will some how incorporate [BLACKOUT]his suicide.[/BLACKOUT] As it is fairly unique and I would say important to his character. And knowing Marvel, it seems that even when they aren't 100% adherent to the comics, that they make the appropriate allusions to said comics.

Killian had what...two pages? I think he's Killian in name only

Kind of my point. Intelligent of Marvel, I believe. To provide development and dynamic characterization to a character that would've otherwise been disposable.

So I was actually wondering does anyone else think [BLACKOUT]Marvel will incorporate Killian's suicide into the film?[/BLACKOUT]

Is it your wish to be spoiled? Do you want to seek the truer answers to your false, spoiler free assumptions?
Nah in a way not knowing what the movie is about makes it all the better that way I don't ruin the experience in theaters...

....you know like before the internet and all.

With the movie premiering first in other countries how is that goind to deter pirated copy DVD's floating around in the states? I can go this weekend in my area and probably see a bootlegger selling IM3 with foreign subtitles.

It won't deter bootlegging. I guarantee it will be on torrent sites within a couple days of release.

You were probably joking, but the Disney logo likely won't appear in front of an MCU movie until TDW.

Thor IS tinkerbell, and has been all this time. (what a twist!)

Since I sort of started the argument--for the record--yes I was joking when I made that post.

I feel as if this .gif is a perfect illustration of what I did.

I pulled a prank, caused trouble, and was never heard from again. Until now...

So, I apologize to Ultimatehero, and I agree that some people do tend to overspeculate and theorize based on very unsubstantiated information, but I think this speculation is what makes all of this fun!

However, I would like to formally end that argument (if it hasn't been already) so that we can get back to hyping ourselves up for this movie!

honestly, animals are funny lol

A Marvel themed Disney logo could be pretty freaking awesome :)

I want to see Ironman 3 now. :D
I am anticipating it quite a lot now, too. I’m excited about the man makes the suit angle. The Mandarin seems like he’s going to be a mean badass, and Tony is at his best when he’s challenged. The footage I have seen looks fun and dark.

Welcome aboard the Funvee :woot:
