:wow:

I can't imagine a Lieutenant becoming a Commissioner overnight. Unless the GCPD takes a caning. We know from the Comics that Gordon doesn't automatically replace Loeb, we then go to Grogan. Probably with Gordon becoming Captain. In the third film I believe we see him become Commissioner. Any ideas?

By the end of the film, I think Gordon will become Commisssioner. I think Joker will be thinning out the police ranks with all sorts of mayhem and chaos, so in the end, very few officers will be left with the necessary experience--except one qualified James Gordon.

Good point. Lets not forget that he is a liaison to Batman and
that he saves the mayor by taking a bullet for him
and that he is
the goddamn Jim Gordon!

Good point. I don't feel it necessary to go to Grogan. Gordon should be commissioner by the end of The Dark Knight.

Gordon's Moustache will become Comish. Then unfortunately will fall victim to an assassination attempt.

Seems the most possible. By thinning out the bigger men, Gordon being the little good cop that he is would then have to take over. Unfortunately, the GPD is full of corrupt cops and even with or without Batman at his shoulder, Gordon would have to keep fighting the good fight to preserve any remnants of justice and good in Gotham.

But I expect that Gordon would then start picking out his team---Bullock, Montoya, Essen, and others.

I agree...

I hope these other cops show up on the big screen, eventually...

LOL

I was thinking the third film. But then again I haven't been following story details for this film that closely.

*knock, knock*

"Nice."

"Couldn't find any clowns."

"Well, Lieutenant."

"Oh, it's Commissioner, now."

What I'm trying to say is that I can see Gordon becoming Commissioner of Police towards the very end of the film.

The real question is when will his hair and 'stache start graying?

When more "crazy freak" villains show up, like TF, Penguin,...

And when he sees that even the goddamn Batman can't stop them forever...

I hope his ascension doesn't become a cliche where he gets a new rank in each film...I'd prefer Jim to become Commissioner by the end of the third film though. That way he's given more time to be a cop that's actually in the trenches alongside Batman, and said ascension doesn't feel rushed JUST for the sake of having the tag 'Commissioner Gordon.'

Great point!!! I concur

Holy s**t that performance in 'Hannibal' was freaky when I first saw it...but clearly, as an actor, Gary can do anything.

Its a bummer that we'll never get to see the ultimate image of gordon-standing in his trenchcoat, smoking. thats the image I constantky have of him-Im not a smoker myself, but think its a shame that due to new laws that I'll never get to see an ideal pic of Oldmans Gordon...

this is in no way a big thing, I jst felt I had to write something!

I dunno. He got promoted to Lieutenant at the end of Begins. We don't know how much time passes between the end of Begins and the end of TDK, but either way, I doubt that he can be bumped all the way up to Commissioner by the end of this one. So, I agree with COMICF...The best time for him to become Commissioner would be at or near the end of the third film. Heck, even that's stretching it too. I mean, he has to make Captain first and then probably Deputy/Inspector...

But of course, there could be some series of events that could make his climb through the ranks go a lot faster (in reality, feasible, but not plausible)..

I was thinking this too hehe:woot:

How is Penguin more of a crazy freak villain than say Joker or Scarecrow?

Really...sometimes I think the only version of the Penguin some of you even know of is the mutant sewer version that was utilized for a single film.

Sorry for the dp but I was wondering, is that Gary's real stache or is spirit gum his best friend?
