The Joker Thread - Part 1

His dad could've been a great Penguin.
He'd have been great for a few Bat characters. Instead we're getting a different irishman

Look at those two Penguins

It’s too bad we never got Bob Hoskins or PSH as Penguin.

Collin Farrel is an actor I have always liked, but I can’t say I’m too excited for him in the role. I wish Jonah Hill would’ve been cast.

I don’t like late 20’s, early 30’s Cobblepot. And if Jonah’s heart isn’t in it, I’d rather a better actor like Colin take the role (I love Jonah btw).

He was one of my Riddler picks. He’s too much of a weasel to be Joker imo. A bit limited as well.
I disagree. He does the tight indie-drama stuff but isn't afraid to ham it up and have some fun when the situation calls for it.

But yeah, it's almost expected that any Joker candidate would also work for Nygma. He's got a good face for a Batman baddie in any event.

Do you guys know any other comedians who are also good actors and Joker material other than Bill Hader (and who has the face for it as well)???????

George MacKay as a Conrad Veidt-esque, serial killer Joker.
I'd personally add Martin Wallström to that list as well. CLJ could be the "modern" homicidal Joker. That being said, almost all my picks could play both a methodical Joker and/or a homicidal Joker.

They're both bit older than I'd like to see, but could totally see either Paul Bettany or Matt Lillard as Joker. Would much rather see a younger actor though, up to age 40 at most.

Heck, if he wasn't already playing Batman, I could see Pattinson as Joker just based on his face and build.

I think whoever the next joker is, they should be able to command the scene. Where they take your attention and demand it. It's what ledger had, and Phoenix, and Nicholson but it's what Leto lacked. I think his joker wouldve been more successful if isolated or adapted like Bermejos Joker book.

Honestly, I think Bettany looks young enough that he wouldn't look old next to Pattinson very much at all. He's obviously not in his 20s, but he looks pretty good for 48 IMHO.

The best Batmen are the ones who you can see playing Bats AND Joker. Keaton. Bale. Pattinson. The other three didn’t have that nutcase quality to them.

Id give Bettany 40-42.

No to Simon Pegg. He seems more like a younger Ventriloquist than Joker lol.

Don't do Batfleck like that

Casting Joker is hard in my opinion. For years I thought Jack Nickolson was the standard for the joker. Then along came Heath Ledger, someone upon casting had me questioning the choice. Then I saw the first released joker pics and I was like WOW ok, looks fantastic. then I watched the movie and was absolutely shocked by his amazing performance. There can be interesting and unusual casting choices for Joker that could be surprising. I may be in the minority, But I even thought Jared Leto did a fantastic job. The issues with his Joker character was the writing and awkward choice in physical appearance but his actual portrayal of the character I though was absolutely fantastic.

Leto was serviceable IMO. I liked his flashiness, hair, makeup appearance, and reputation even if we weren't shown why he's so feared. A few goofy tattoos doesn't derail it, but I could do without some of them. I also hated his relationship with Harley, but they fixed it in BoP (hopefully). That being said, he deserved a better shot than what he was given. Let's just hope this next Joker is great too.

And I agree. Casting The Joker is hard because there are so many actors to choose from and so many facial structures to take into account.

Where the sons of Crispen's father at? It's time for our boy Glover to seize the opportunity stolen from him in 2006. It's nevah too late.
