The Joker Thread - Part 1

I've always considered it rather pathetic for actors to actively campaign for roles via social media. John Cusack is the absolute worst for that. It really speaks to the quality of such actors, that they feel the need to put on such an embarrassing spectacle.

....you felt the need to post this twice and quote yourself the second time?

Evidently, otherwise it wouldn't be there, would it?

As a jokey comeback, yeah. I'm bemused that something so incredibly obvious had to be put into context, but whatever.

Maybe so, but he’s actually a good actor so Reeves could take it into consideration. Most actors who pull this stunt are terrible, so they get ignored.

Paul Giamatti was saying he wanted to play The Rhino in Spider-Man for years.

This made me laugh harder than it should. :hehe:

“Do you see it now?”

No, I don’t.

Right. Terrible choice and has any actor ever gotten a role they campaigned for in this way? Like that one actor from I, Tonya posting in social media about wanting to be the Penguin. It's like, good luck with that you fools. You'll just come off as annoying.

When highly respected actors say things like that, it obviously gets the wheels turning in a director’s mind. Tyrese however...lol.

Lakeith ain't Giamatti, though, as much as I like him. Giamatti pretty much willed the Rhino into life. I'd be willing to be there was no real interest in using the character prior to him explicitly saying he wanted to play him.

Lakeith probably has more juice behind him then ASM2 Giamatti, tbh. He's a bright up and comer, not a fully committed character actor.

Paul Walter Hauser is far from annoying if you've seen him in interviews or podcasts.

I'm not talking about him as a person overall but just when any actor puts out a lot of social media posts begging to be cast in a specific role.

Giamatti had awards under his belt, though. Multiple Golden Globe, Emmy, and SAG wins.

I’m down for Keaton but not with Dafoe. I’d rather see Mel Gibson play a gruff old Bruce Wayne in about ten years, with a old man Joker (enter Willem) who hasn’t been killed in a past movie (like Nicholson).
