The Joker Thread - Part 1

Having the Joker do something like this to himself might be the only way to redeeming Leto's Joker

Eh, no. We've already explored that territory on Gotham with Cameron Monaghan's interpretation of the character. Doing so with Leto's Joker would just be an unnecessary retread.

I don't care if it made sense in the context of the story. The Joker cutting his face off is one of the stupidest things I have seen in recent comics.

Didn't care for it either, but it is an option if they want to get rid of those stupid ass face tattoos and soft reboot Leto's take on the character

While I'm glad they got him back to his approximation of normal, I have to disagree there. I thought it was a nice touch in showing just how "out there" Joker is.

But, on the flip side I can still see why some hate the idea.

Seconded.

I was hoping his dip in the chemicals with Harley would get rid of them. But alas sadly no.

Get rid of face tattoos by getting rid of his face?

Could just recast Joker and say this Joker was Jason Todd pretending to be Joker.

Or he can just not have tattoos next movie

Its really not that hard. If they want to go with a new "look" just change it entirely. Then mention how the Joker constantly has an entire new look every 4 or 5 years. That can be one this Joker's traits. He's always different the next time you see him.

This would be the best thing to do. They don't even have to give a specific time-span as to when he'll change his look: it just happens. We all know I like the look he currently has but this is actually an idea I'd love to see implemented. But I'd say keep the grillz...they accentuate his smile. Leto himself has admitted he doesn't have a big smile like the Joker, and the grillz help to accomplish that.

I hope Geoff Johns reads these boards.
For this post.

Yes Joker should keep the grills in his mouth but the tattoos definitely need to go for sure...but Joker if he does make an appearance in Batman's solo film it makes sense given how Suicide Squad ended with Joker being alive when we all thought that he died

Some of the ideas here are too creative for no reason. If they don't want Leto, they can recast him. If they don't want tattoos anymore, they get rid of the tattoos.

Edward Norton and Mark Ruffallo as Banner is best example. Same goes for Warmachine actors.

This isn't Ledger's Joker. General Audience would accept changes without thinking about it if it's for good.

Then who can they bring in as a recast for Joker

Why are we still talking about recasting? :funny:

I don't mind the idea of the tattoos, and basing Joker's look on gangland cartel criminals, I like the whole idea, the flashy clothes and cars and jewelry, the grill, like Joker sees himself as some kind of twisted version of a pop star, but I wish they had put a little more thought into the tattoos. It was a good opportunity to get inside Joker's mind a little and play around with his sense of humor, like I would think one of the main purposes in Joker getting tattoos would be to psychologically mess with Batman, to poke fun at him, or get under his skin a little bit. Like, I could see Joker getting a bat logo tattooed on him, as if it's a symbol that has some kind of meaning in his life, for example. But, as it is, it just seems like the tattoos were chosen to "look cool" like the grim jester or the HAHAs.

One thing I love about the Ledger Joker are the little touches that may give insight into his past, or may not. Like the facial tics could be the result of long term antipsychotic use, or the little things that make people theorize that Joker is ex military,a theory that I love by the way, as if he had been captured and tortured and left behind and felt betrayed and eventually snapped. I love the fact that Joker's past and motivations are a mystery, that they can drop little clues or hints that spark your imagination. The mystery makes him more frightening.

Mess with Batman? He has a dead Robin tattoo, doesn't he?

Yep. I think a dead Robin tattoo referencing the one he killed suffices enough. Giving Joker a Bat-logo tattoo wouldn't make sense. Would that really be messing with Batman or just promoting him?

Considering he has a batman tatoo with a sword going through it, i wonder what that symbolized

Jason Todd rejecting his teachings of Batman and killing his self that believed he would be Batman's successor and becoming a copycat version of the Joker.
