The Joker Thread - Part 1

Whether Eisenberg was miscast or not, for once I would like a live action Lex Luthor that's portrayed more like he was in Superman TAS.

Yeah, you can look back and see the enormous amount of backlash there was against Heath. Fanboys at their worst.

Given the events of Suicide Squad we know that Leto's Joker is not dead that he somehow survived that helicopter explosion that crash and he broke Harley out of jail apparently so since Joker is alive and at large then he should at least be considered a villain in the Batfleck solo

Idk I wouldn't be surprised if he was left out of the first Batman solo completely. I mean why would Matt Reeves want to use (or fix, lets be honest) a villain that has already been defined by a different director when he could really do his own thing with a villain that hasn't been used in the DCEU yet or for a long time in DC movies in general. Granted you could say that Batman himself was defined by Zack Snyder but I think Ben's Batman has less baggage than Jared Leto's portrayal of the Joker which was very divisive at best.

I'm really only interested in seeing The Joker in a solo Batman film if it's set in Arkham Asylum and he's part of an ensemble of villains.

Ayer and Leto really screwed the pooch with the DCEU Joker, as far as I'm concerned. My interest just isn't there. Reeves would have to do a total revamp for me to get back on-board.

The base design is so perfect.

Straight-up TDKR Joker vibes.

If Leto stays on, I pray Ayer stays far away from him. But Jared needs to lay off the try-hard path as well and just perform. I used to think him acknowledging the character's rich history would be beneficial, but I sorta think it had the unintended effect of forcing him to ham it up and match his predecessors.

Can a Gotham City Sirens movie be made that doesn't involve Joker in the movie somehow?

Pretty much.
Get rid of the "pimp" vibe and give him a better writing, then you have a "perfect" Joker.
Leto can pull it off.

As a character, Harley can function independent of the Joker if the story calls for it. Nothing about the concept of a Catwoman/Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy team-up necessitates the Joker's involvement.

^ No further explanation needed from me

Here is how I look at it. Joker played a significant role in the Gotham City Sirens comic books.
David Ayer wrote the Suicide Squad movie and created Leto's version of the Joker.
While not writing it, David Ayer is directing Gotham City Sirens, so he probably has some input.
In Suicide Squad Joker followed Harley around like a lovesick puppy.
In Suicide Squad Joker broke Harley out of prison.
So how did Harley and Joker part ways?

It's sort of the elephant in the room if none of that is addressed in Gotham City Sirens.

HOWEVER, while I love the idea of Harley completely independent of Joker, I would only love him to be involved if it meant we get a scene of him trying to live without her, similar to that BTAS episode "Harley and Ivy." I would just find that funny, anyway.

We already saw what this Joker pining for Harley looks like in SS. Lets never go back that horrendous lovesick puppy mess again.

The base design is so perfect.

Imagine if this was the first official picture released of the Joker in Suicide Squad?

The reaction would have been the complete opposite of what it was.
