The Joker Thread - Part 1

I’m so glad Jonah Hill isn’t Riddler. Paul Dano will be 10000x better than Hill would have.

I definitely would’ve preferred Hill as Penguin though.

How about George MacKay? He was great in Captain Fantastic and 1917.

The thing about Pattinson is that pre-Batman he was really only particularly famous for Twilight. Now for young people Twilight might have been pretty unavoidable, but older generations that didn't know, didn't care, didn't pay attention could easily slip past the craze having no idea who Robert Pattinson is. Affleck, on the other hand, was in Good Will Hunting, Kevin Smith's movies, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Sum of All Fears (Tom Clancy), Daredevil, The Town, and Argo, which won Best Picture. He was married to Jennifer Garner, and he dated Jennifer Lopez (Bennifer). It's hard to not have heard of Ben Affleck.

Still, talking about it like going from Affleck to Pattinson is a huge leap in terms of popularity is not really accurate. A huge leap would've been going from Affleck to Jack O'Conell or something.
Affleck has been around longer but I'd go as far as to say that Pattinson is probably one of the most famous, if not the most famous, actor of his generation.

MacKay can give us a proper Morrison Joker.

Arkham Asylum or Batman RIP?

Because if you're referring Batman RIP, I absolutely despise that version of Joker and it's too similar to Leto.

Leto didn't get anywhere close to the sheer menace and horror of Morrison's Joker.

A Serious House on Serious Earth, RIP, The Clown at Midnight. I love Morrison's Joker across the board.

I just don't really like his design in Batman RIP. The whole "muscular shirtless Joker" seems a bit weird to me, and after seeing it in Leto I have no desire to see it again. The rest are fine though. I do like his appearance in A Serious House a lot.

For whatever reason, he's giving me "Joker in Arkham Origins" vibes here.

Affleck to Pattinson? Hathaway to Kravitz?

Pattinson will forever be know for his work in the Twilight movies, which were huge. Kravitz is coming off having done Big Little Lies, and is the daughter of two very famous parents. While neither is as big a name as the actors that preceded them, they're certainly actors people know. To say Reeves isn't after stars is a bit disingenuous, particularly when Colin Farrell is going to be in this. Caleb Landry Jones is not on the same tier as those other actors.

I think there's zero chance the Joker is played by an unknown. He's too iconic a character in this franchise. He'll either be played by an A-list actor, or someone who is on the cusp of being a mega star.

Still think Reeves is going to get an actor that is their late 20s or 30s and they won't be anybody choice. Which is a great thing if you ask me. I love when Marvel and DC cast an actor or actress for a role and I go DAMN I didn't of that person!:hoboj:

I honestly think that by the time that they cast a new Joker, we'll have mentioned pretty much every actor on the planet just like we mentioned every actor in that age range for Batman and we mentioned every actress for Selina. I don't even think I'm exaggerating, we pretty much went through every single name on these forums

Was especially disappointing considering he personally called Morrison up and apparently they had long conversations about the character. I've no idea where any of that research went.

I was thinking that lol. It was still a shock to a lot of people when Robert was cast. I believe when the new Joker is cast some people will be very happy and others will be online complaining like crazy lol.
