The Joker Thread - Part 1

How? It's a basic enough look; although maybe the blazer might be a bit more casual, like tweed or something.

I just think this series of movies may end up being their own thing, meaning a Joker that doesn't fit the classic mold. I'm sure he'll have the green hair, makeup, be recognizably the Joker, just not classic Joker.

I say they should start out classic and have him devolve gradually throughout. His hair goes from slicked back to more wild and Bolland esque, scarred smile etc

But why? Isn't the Joker already devolved?
You always gotta be a dang contrarian yo lol

Idk. I just think it'd be interesting to see a Joker with multiple "phases" so to speak instead of just one look the whole time .

If they HAVE to do that then I'd rather have him evolve from like, a black trenchcoat to something a little more traditional

Interestingly I've always thought the opposite would be cool. Start out more in the grimy Ledger/Phoenix mold and he slowly grows into a sleek, classic Joker.

I used to have my GTA online character have a more classic Joker look and now I've got him with the black trench and longer hair, speaking of which lol

In going with the more grounded look for Riddler, I'm kind of expecting a minimalistic purple suit. Maaaybe the ties and bowties can have goofy patterns but I'm not expecting the colorful three-piece with the tailcoat for instance.

Idk. That could work too I'm thinking of like a "finally the flesh reflects the madness within" sort of development.

Like what happened to Monaghan by the end of Gotham, but, ya know, good.

I have come to the conclusion that Toni Collette is the best choice. We could get a Joker that resembles Conrad Veidt’s “Man Who Laughs”. She can switch between sexy and terrifying better than just about anyone, and that’s something we have never really gotten with Joker.

My idea would be to use the slightest pitch deepening on her voice just to add to the unsettling nature of the character. Not a big enough change to be super noticeable, but a subtly unnatural deepness would be really scary I think.

I’m sorry but she looks more like my ideal Joker than anyone that has been brought up in this thread. She is perfect for it. She doesn’t have to play a female Joker. I’d depict Joker as a man, who happens to have an actress playing the role.

I’m dying for one example where Toni Colette played “sexy” :funny:

Sorry but Colette is ugly AF lmao. Sometimes the truth hurts lol.

More or less how Kane's Joker dressed, so I wouldn't really mind something like that.

Love this panel!

Might be a controversial opinion, but I think colder and calculating takes on Joker in stuff like the early Golden Age stories, TDK, TDKR are my favourite takes on him.

Still really love the classic homicidal maniac, and every writer and artist depict the Joker differently.

If I said that about DaFoe nobody would bat an eye lol. Honestly, I think Swinton is the least attractive person I’ve seen in Hollywood but she HAS played a sexy character before. I have never seen Colette do that. Examples?

The pics of her with the short hair can make me understand the choice more. But it’s still going to get all the wrong publicity.

I repeat myself, I know, but that's how I see who Joker really is underneath all the theatrics and flamboyance. Just pure emptiness.

Whether the publicity would be good or bad depends entirely on what circles you run in.

Also the idea that Swinton is one of the ugliest people in Hollywood is... Something.

Collette playing sexy - Velvet Buzzsaw? I think you can throw in Knives Out too.
