The Joker Thread - Part 1

Pine is wrong for the part. Not just physically. His acting style doesn’t work for that character.

:hehe:

I think I see something in him when he lets loose a little bit that could work for Joker.

Letting loose compared to Star Trek, Jack Ryan, etc...When he's able to play a more goofy character I think he has the chops to do a crazy but not over the top Joker. He could play psycho/serious in Jokers "seeing red" moments, then easily switch back to crazy laughter.

I still think he's a bit too rugged-looking.

Pine in Smoking Aces is a great Joker audition

Hovering over Batman and everything. People didn't think Ledger was anywhere near the Joker ballpark (sorry, I'm pulling that card) and I think Pine would surprise as well.

Andrew Garfield kinda reminds me of Arkham Origins Joker.

And just one more thing, can't link for the language but Youtube - Smokin Aces - The Way of the World Clip. Minus his hillbilly accent, he carries himself in a way that I could see being tweaked to fit Joker.

Bradley Cooper is also a bad choice.

Pine isn’t rugged looking. He’s a pretty boy. But he’s still a no for me, even though I think he’s a great actor that deserves to work with better directors.

Rewatched Split because my friend hadn’t seen it or heard of Unbreakable. Someone has to have had mentioned McAvoy as a contender: his performance(s) in that alone is Oscar worthy. The man is a damned chameleon... containing many Joker qualities.

His character there kinda reminded me of Morrison's Joker, but I still don't have any desire to see him play Joker.

Not sure if I get the hype around George Clooney in general tbh

He has that old-school movie star charm and charisma and he's enjoyable in lightweight stuff like Ocean's Eleven, and he's a good collaborator with the Coen Brothers (O Brother Where Art Thou might be his best performance actually IMO), but he's not really a "serious actor" or anything. He certainly is too light and breezy and not intense enough for a serious Batman.

Clooney works in some Coen Brothers movies. Otherwise I can’t stand to look at him. I don’t find him a good actor.

I wouldn't say I dislike him, but outside of Ocean's Eleven and O Brother where I enjoy him, I don't care about him.

It's a very Ledger performance.

I don't love Clooney either. And McAvoy is pretty talented, but I'm so good on him as Joker. Not interested at all.

It's still Gyllenhaal, Phoenix, and Driver at the top for me. There's plenty actors Reeves could surprise us with though. A relatively unknown would even be super interesting.

The Foxx situation has me itching for Phoenix to return as a different Joker
Only if he gets all skinny bones again. Which would probably be bad for him so I'm not really counting on that

The more mainstream Hollywood pushes some "handsome", usually middle-aged actor as the best thing since sliced bread, the less likely I am to give them a chance. There are exceptions, of course, but I can be very oppositional. The Greatest Showman has to be the most overhyped movie of 2017.

This but permawhite with shorter hair and maybe without the extended smile:
