The Joker Thread - Part 1

Nick Stahl?

i happen to just read a new interview with him.
dood really hit rock bottom awhile ago.
hope he makes a comeback and is able to stay sober.

i honestly really enjoyed his performance in terminator 3.
esp the ending of that.
thought it wasn't as good a movie as the previous 2, but still had fun with it.

I saw that too. I haven't watched Terminator 3 tbh. His work in Bully and other things is what intrigued me.

Drew this tonight… don’t know why I never thought of him! Similar age discrepancy between him and Pattinson as Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton. Not as wild as a Willem Defoe but I think he’d crush.

He was also great as that Yellow Bastard in Sin City. Pre-Yellow Rourke Jr, as played by Stahl, always gave me Scorpio vibes. Not surprising, as Miller is a big fan of Dirty Harry.

Stahl reminds me of what I'd imagine Mark Hamill would look like had he physically played the Joker. He has kind of a blocky head.

Hell yeah.

Just watched The Harder They Fall on Netflix. Lakeith Stanfield gave a great villain performance full of charm & charisma. He’s still my favorite for a new Joker.

Stahl's done some decent stuff. Still, any Joker he did couldn't possibly be as messed-up/terrifying as his Sin City guy, haha, it's probably a waste.

Seems like a big misuse of his talents
In order to play Dent with his particular illness, you need to be one of the most versatile actors in the business. No exaggeration.

It takes a lot of skill to play two different ppl at war with each other in the same body. Sometimes within the same scene & frame without it coming off a little bit goofy. The list of actors who can pull that off is tiny. You have to feel the tragedy and not see it as just some "cool acting moment" or a laughable Tommy Lee Jones thing. To make it horrifying and sad to watch but shocking that Harvey can't pull it together...it's gonna take an actor like Lakeith Stanfield.

An example would be his famous scene in Get Out at the party when the flash from the camera goes off. You remember how you felt for Lakeith in that moment? That's Two Face hitting rock bottom. AND he has what it takes to play the likeable and focused Harvey Dent aka young District Attorney before it goes south. You just need to show early signs of what's to come. But he's the right guy for the job. If he can make you feel that way with not much development, imagine if you spent the whole sequel with Harv/Lakeith and then his psyche is split in two for the third movie? With that kind of development and downfall without rushing it...that could be Oscar potential.

Dent has the potential to be a very complex character on the big screen and they need a monster of an actor or else I say don't do it at all. I personally think Christopher Abbott will get the job over say...Nicholas Hoult. But Stanfield is a fantastic choice that I keep forgetting to include. If you make him a black man, I think he's better than John David Washington (the number one popular fancast).
