The Joker Thread - Part 1

Everyone trying to stitch his face together with separate shots, but there are a few quick shots in that GIF above where his eyes and mouth are in frame together while he's laughing.

I hope at some point we actually see Batman's first interaction with Joker, maybe in one of the HBO series?

I kinda hope they keep that as a mystery personally.

We've seen that story before.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing though.

I'm honestly okay if they never circle back to it. Just leave it to people's imaginations. I know mine has been running wild since yesterday and it's invigorating.

Let everybody have their own "urban legend" of how Vengeance first took down the clown.

But we haven't seen that story before. I mean, if you just mean in the simplest terms, yes, we've seen Batman vs. Joker before, but I think it would be a bit glaring if we never find out what happened. Because this isn't just Joker as Hannibal Lectre in Silence of the Lambs, this would be if Clarice had already known Hannibal before interviewing him.

And obviously this version of the Joker made enough of an impact on Batman to have Batman visit him a year later and try to get his insight. If Batman was responsible for capturing the Joker, I think that's something they should explore.

But this is what the comics does, where we're so familiar with these characters for so many years, we can put it together ourselves. Not to mention, we've seen two stories already in live action when they first meet. Their pre-established relationship is part of what makes this so fresh and exciting. Diving right in along with leaving it to the imagination is the appeal this time. It's part of the benefit of seeing a Batman who has been active for some time.

Also I think we need to consider this "Jon doe" isn't the Joker yet so how he got caught isn't that important.

Will get there first meeting once "Jon doe" embraces and fully becomes the Joker.

It's unquie way to give us both the established realtionship and the real first encounter as there respected legends.

Isn't it though? (Thor face).

Batman encountered Joker in his first year, meaning this was likely his first major case as Batman. Even if Joker isn't "Joker" at this point, he's obviously not some random nobody, because why would Batman seek him out a year later just to get his insight?

I'm not Matt Reeves so I don't know lol all I'm saying is this there's an equal amount of justification to show how Batman caught him as there is to keep it mystery that's all.

I guess Reeves is just kinda reading the room here. He himself has been extremely cagey about how he plans to use The Joker in the future. People have not been shy about wanting to table this character for a while. "Joker fatigue!" "We've seen this before!" "Give us new villains!" If you weren't in that camp, this doesn't apply to you, but I'm getting a bit of a chuckle out of people swearing up and down they're sick of seeing The Joker but the moment Reeves posts this scene now people want to see that first meeting between him and Batman. So we DO want to see that type of story again? It's getting hard to keep up. :funny:

This angle is fresh, and I think it's a decent compromise between those who want The Joker and those that aren't as keen.

I know I already referenced this before, but the best course scenario imo would be: bring back Barry Keoghan as Joker in the Arkham show not necessarily as a main character, but a consistent looming presence. Then, have the third Batman movie perhaps take place entirely in Arkham Asylum and you can have him face Battinson along with other villains with sprinkles of psychological horror.

Basically have Reeves put his spin on ASHOSE and you have cinematic perfection.

I wouldn't mind that but it might be controversial.

Most people I've talked to in real life want him to be free and the Main villan of the third.

Red Dragon? While that movie does have Will already being friends with Hannibal, we do see Will discovering Hannibal's true face.
That’s an addition to the film. In the original novel and superior previous adaptation there aren’t any flashbacks.

Realistically speaking, you're not going to see Joker as the main villain in any movie of this series given how a lot of people are sick and tired of seeing him consistently take center stage when other Batman villains haven't been brought to live-action yet (or at least, not in a satisfying manner).

Having Joker mess with Batman's mind in the mental asylum his mother was hospitalized in would also be a nice full circle moment for Pattinson's Bruce and his arc.

Barry's made no secret of his love for the genre. He made a short film as Peter Parker too:

Must be wildly surreal to see himself be in the Joker role now. He even has several years to marinate over that fact before he actually does a full performance.

Keoghan in 2017: "I really wanted to play Robin."
Reeves in 2021: "I've got a role for you but it's just aaaa little different."

I think it's a good idea.

But I'm not sure if enough people are sick of Joker to make it so they do this in the Arhkam show and have him break out or join the fun in a another film.

This scenes buzz and reception has made me believe that's a minority personally.

But either way I wanna see this Arhkam idea happen sometime in the future.

It is borderline unimaginable Joker won’t be the big bad of the second or third movie. Lot of big talk about Joker burn out, but the character is a gigantic box office draw.
