Stewart could be changed slightly in personality for film. But Smith can play the serious role, he's a great actor, and I don't know why people can't see him playing the character.

I could see Smith pulling it off, but I can't see Smith signing on.

The age is a factor and Nolan would have to completely back out of this in order for WB to pay Smith. But he can do it.

Yeah, same. Sad thing is, Elba might still have a contract with Marvel. They might not even ask him if he's still tied to that world.

I would prefer John Stewart, but I think they'll go with Hal because he's the original League member. There's a good chance they might bring Reynolds back and rework him.

I do think Elba will may not be available due to his current involvement in Thor.

And if that's the case, what are the other options for both Hal Jordan AND John Stewart?

And lets just leave Smith aside for a second, shauner, we can come back to him later?

Yeah, im not sure if Will is an option anyway. They'll probably go with a younger black actor.

Will Smith is an A-list actor. WB probably wouldn't want to pay him such a high salary epecially if they intend to make a franchise which means locking an actor into a contract for multiple movies.

Unless someone like Will Smith is willing to take a paycut WB will be looking at cheaper actors.

For sure. We should get on the hunt for B listers who can play Hal or John.

Names off the top of my head are

1. Logan Marshall-Green
2. Josh Duhamel
3. Alex O' Loughlin

Alex O' Loughlin would suck as Batman IMO, too wooden.

Logan Marshall-Green is a pretty good choice for Hal. Something about him reminds me of Tom Hardy though.

I could definitely see Will Smith as Green Lantern John Stewart! I think that'd work and be kind of cool, actually. And I'm sure that alone would put asses in seats. Can you imagine Will Smith as GL in addition to Chris' Nolan's involvement? I'd be drooling at the mouth over that prospect if I were WB. No way it happens though.

This guy was my number one choice for Hal back in the day. I think he'd do great. I could totally see Josh Duhamel as Hal Jordan, I would buy him in that role more than just about any other actor I can think of off the top of my head.

Is Josh Duhamel a good actor? I've only seen him in Transformers, where he was servicable I suppose, for the role.

Reynolds is actually a great actor, when used right. And fitting for Hal. I thought he was great in Adventureland.

But I would like to see a different actor for a reboot. And I imagine WB would as well.

I wouldn't mind if they sort of soft-rebooted it. Not rebooting the continuity, but rebooting the direction, making the next GL movie the 'first' (not using "2" in the title), even though Green Lantern 2011 still have could come before it.

No way it happens, but im glad others are excited for it. It would put asses in the seats BIG time. "Justice League starring Christian Bale and Will Smith featuring the producer of The Dark Knight Trilogy, Christopher Nolan". My pants would be wet from non-stop urine.

90% of what I've read about Duhamel has been unfavourable. Not bad. Just unfavourable.

It would be huge, but personally I don't see Smith as Stewart at all. I have feeling he'd be too Will Smith, and not John Stewart enough.

I could see WB making John Stewart a bit more 'fun', a bit more 'Will Smith', if he was cast.

At the same time, I could see Smith being interested if the character was extremely different from the usual Will Smith fare; serious, war-vet, etc.

I could live with any Will Smith interpretation though. Serious or not, especially if it gave us more Green Lantern movies.

Yeah they can make adjustments to give him that Will sense of humor when he's interacting with Batman for instance, or Barry. But any other time the character is really focused and serious. And I don't think Will would just pull the "Will Smith" card for that. I've seen him in movies where he's dead serious and very different. Seven Pounds especially. Even in this new movie After Earth, he doesn't look like a character with a sense of humor at all. All about the mission and surviving. This shows me that he could actually add something better to the role of Green Lantern.

It's really too bad he'd want to get payed so much. Maybe the age wouldn't be a factor if they just don't address it. I mean, he looks the same age as Bale. And Bale would probably play Bruce Wayne like he's older than what Christian really is.

It's all about budget though, and that's the disappointing part.

Well you know they'd want a franchise if they signed a big shot like Will Smith though. Chances are he'd probably be the GL in the solo films and we'd never see Hal Jordan.
