Justice League The Justice League Casting Thread - Part 7

When I heard Ezra Miller was cast as Flash I almost **** myself beacuse he´s so freaking young and not someone you´d think be playing Barry in this universe. I haven´t seen him much but I know he´s talented. Sooo I guess they´ll be going for a pretty young GL as well since it would be weird if they didn´t pay homage to the classic buddy dynamic between Hal and Barry, not that it´s impossible to have that with an older GL. That could be interesting since the other charachters seem to be pretty serious. Definitely looking forward to some Hal Jordan-Batman discussions.

Off topic, but I think Clint Walker and Telly Savalas would have been the perfect 50s/60s Superman and Lex Luthor.

I was hoping they'd cast the same actor from the Flash TV show
Ezra Miller is a fantastic choice. This kid can act circles around that CW actor. Thank god that version of Flash and Green Arrow are seperate. I hate those shows.

Ezra is outside of the box when it comes to his look, but we don't know if they'll change his hair to fit Barry or not. I honestly don't care though, because i would rather see them do something visually different to TV.

They need to treat this film version of Flash like DC's Spider-Man. He has that potential, and Ezra Miller has that charisma. Just like Mamoa's Aquaman should be treated like DC's Thor. Only more brutal and less comedic.

For Justice League part 1 (vs the Legion of Doom):
Lex Luthor: Jesse Eisenberg
The Joker: Adrien Brody
Harley: Margot Robbie
Cheetah: Eva Green
Black Manta: Will Smith
Deathstroke: Brad Pitt

for the Superman solo:
Brainiac: Tilda Swinton

For Justice League part 2:
Darkseid: Rodrigo Santoro
Granny Goodness: Meryl Streep
Desaad: Jackie Earle Haley

Suicide Squad would be no match for the Justice League. They need to use Brainiac, and i dont think a female should play that role.

No Joker until a solo Batman. Tom Hardy hopefully plays a role in Squad. Don't care enough about Brody to have him play an iconic role like Joker. There's better choices. Not a fan of Santoro for Darkseid or any role really. Keep Jackie Earle Haley away from this universe please.

But nice attempt at casting Rorschach! We need more of that. I remember being in this thread a couple years ago, ALL the time. Before we knew anything other than Cavill as Superman. I'd love to hear more suggestions from everyone.

I disagree with basically everything you're saying, but yeah i remember when we used to be on this thread all the time before everyone had been cast. Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling or Jon Hamm were my Batman picks. So glad they went with Affleck instead.

They don't NEED to use Brainiac for the first film. He would be a good pick, but I'd be just as happy if they saved him for a later Superman film. Perhaps Superman is taken prisoner aboard Brainiac's ship, along the lines of Superman: Unbound. That way it'd make sense for other League members not to be involved. A self contained story with a threat as large as Brainiac would have to explain why the other JL members were absent, and Clark being held prisoner is the perfect way to explain that.

Also that's not the Suicide Squad, it's the Legion of Doom! Of course they are a match for the Justice League. I'd add some more muscle to the team, Metallo would be a good fit.

Lex Luthor
Joker
Harley
Deathstroke
Manta
Cheetah
+Metallo

That wouldn't be a threat to the Justice League? It would, and i think it'd be better if they went with the Legion of Doom for Justice League 1, then Darkseid for Justice League 2, with Brainiac for MOS2, and Doomsday for MOS3.

Legion of Doom leading into a Darkseid storyline could end up being structured somewhat like the Rock of Ages storyline

I've gotten attached to the idea of SS setting up a Legion of Doom/Justice League movie

Also it really doesn't matter what gender Brainiac is, Tilda Swinton is perfect for Brainiac..

Santoro is also perfect for Darkseid, his voice is completely ideal for the role. He could voice the role, and some massive dude could play Darkseid practically, with lots of CGI enhancements

Also don't know why you're against Jackie Earle Haley being in this universe, he's totally ideal for genre stuff like this. Desaad would be right up his alley.

If I could cast DC's the Justice League with any actors ever in history.

Clint Walker {Height: 6'6"} as Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman
Clint Eastwood {Height: 6'4"} as Bruce Wayne / Batman
Jane Russell {Height: 5'7"} as Princess Diana / Wonder Woman
Paul Newman {Height: 5'9"} as Hal Jordan / Green Lantern
Robert Redford {Height: 5'10"} as Barry Allen / Flash.

There won't be a MOS 3 mark my words.

Either they're using Doomsday in 2016, or they're saving him for the final Superman movie. He will be used, he's been hinted at. Brainiac is either the villain of Justice League or in the solo film, but that would mean Doomsday is used in Bats v Supes.

Im annoyed by Tilda, so im gonna pass on her. I dont think she's a good fit.

Im just not a fan of Jackie. Anytime he's in a big blockbuster movie, especially a villain, he just does Rorschach. He was great for that, but ive moved on from that guy since Watchmen hit the shelves.

The Legion of Doom idea is good though. Maybe they'll do that, but the reason why im excited for the first Justice League in the first place is because it's stripped down compared to Avengers, and what we'll get with the sequel. I like the idea of 6 members taking on one villain who doesn't have an alien army behind him. If you make it a team of six versus a team of six, it just feels crowded. Maybe Rock coming in as Black Adam wouldn't be so bad. Have him throw down with Superman before he's in Shazam. But there's no chance in hell that Joker appears before 2020. I would literally bet my left nut on it, that's how sure i am.

Not only would you have two strong teams, you have to give screen-time to Alfred, Lois. It just seems ridiculous for live-action. That's why Marvel is only doing this in Civil War, Infinity Wars...after we've seen a few team-ups already. You can't blow your load on the first Justice League.

Welcome to the LEAGUE!
Henry Cavill: Superman
Ben Affleck: Batman
Gal Gadot: Wonder Woman
Jason Momoa: Aquaman
Ezra Miller: Flash
Ray Fisher: Cyborg

No to Brody and Robbie unless you want this film to bomb. And no to Green, purely because the woman would deserve a much better role than you're suggesting.

So far:

S: Cavill
B: Affleck
WW: Gal
A: Mamoa
F: Ezra
C: Fisher

Need:

GL/Hal: Pine
GL/JS: W. Smith

If they want someone younger for Hal and be closer in age range as Ezra. Than how about Josh Hutcherson?

Josh Hutcherson is the size of a Hobbit. I'm not usually one to get hung up on height here, but I don't think there's any way to realistically make him look like Hal Jordan. Jimmy Olsen, on the other hand...

His Hunger Games costar, Sam Caflin, would be a much better fit for Hal. He was one of my top picks for the Flash, but he could also work as GL.

Yeah I like the idea of Claflin as Hal.

yeah...you right. he is only 5'6-5'7....way short.

I propose Brenton Thwiates for Hal Jordan. If they are going with 22 year old actor for the Flash, might as well get a 25 year old Hal Jordan. He is listed at 6' 1.5"

He was in Maleficent, The Signal, Oculus, and The Giver. I think he looks good for the part and I don't mind him as an actor. He will next be seen with Ewan McGregor in Son of a Gun.

If it comes down to Brenton Thwaites and Sam Claflin, I'd go with Thwaites because he looks more Hal Jordan to me. And he's a fresher face like Ezra Miller. By the way, Claflin is only 3 years older.

Sorry if I don't insert a picture, I don't know what image is useable.

Yet again, Liam Aiken is a better candidate for Hal than Josh Hutcherson if they need to use an actor in that age group.
But to get real picky, Highmore, Lerman and Sangster also belong to the same generation. The real question is how young should the character be allowed to look. Could be a problem.
Jake Gyllenhaal is a good pick for playing Green Lantern. But maybe we should just skip the guys of the 80s and go straight to the "early 90-ers"?

As for the Brenton Thwaites question, why not!

Thwaites just got one of the leading roles in the next PotC film.

Maybe Ansel Elgort for something, I liked him in Fault in our Stars. Might be a bit young for Hal, but it wouldn't be the worst pick, he's charismatic. For Hal I think you need to cast that over looks.
