Scratchin my head on what the fuss is all about. Shazams suit looks good to me and is as comic accurate as there ever was regarding the genre. The huge bolt on the front was a must.

Yeah, minus the hood, it reminds me a lot of the Captain Marvel suit on Young Justice.

Under normal circumstances, yea there's no way a studio would sabotage their own tentpole. But keep in mind that while everyone wants a good film, the ones who don't really care are the higher ups who are rushing this out for a bonus. These are the same guys who see their future with the company in question if the ATT merger happens, so the well being of the film and the company is none of their concern really. They just want that fat bonus so they can bounce when the time comes.

Nailed it.

That certainly puts things in perspective.

People are complaining that it doesn't fit the aesthetic of the previous DCEU costumes, which is a criticism I don't really get.

Heh, I dont mind Shazam being a more silver-age esque costume. It makes sense that its not like Kryptonian nano-tech, Batman's kevlar, or Amazonian/Atlantean armour. That makes sense, as its a suit borne out of a child's imagination.

I think its the execution for a lot of fans, rather than the idea. I'm a huge fan of Alex Ross' artwork, and if that's what they are trying to recreate count me all in.

The problem is from these BTS pics, the suit looks cheap and cosplayish. I think that's the major problem here. I'm hoping it looks much better in the film/official pics. Wilkinson and Hemming have set the bar so high, its not a surprise tbh.

The reshoots scenes look so flat, and cheap with horrible lighting.

I still don't think the Aquaman board walk one was a reshoot. I think that was always part of the scene.

I think the original was the one with the sea crashing on him from both sides, and then Whedon added the joke with the sign board removing that awesome shot.

I think they were both by Snyder, but when Whedon was trimming down to meet the 2hr mandate, he prioritised the sign over the standing shot.

This I think is a good example of Whedons contributions: He was dealt a bad hand, being told to completely recut the film into something very different and much shorter, but he also played his hand badly, in places making the wrong calls on what to cut and what to keep.

Yeah. Thankfully it looked good in the Snyder shot deleted scene.

The Hot Toys diorama figure stand is literally the dead body of a parademon. Way more hardcore than anything he ever did in Josstice League.

Looks cool and all, but why is he thin here? Look at his arms...Is it to compensate for Affleck's bloatedness in Josstice League?

Hot Toys is a bit hit and miss with the likeness

The problem isn't the suit but the lighting. That suit wasn't meant to be that bright.

No no. The suit was the problem too. Thenway they made the muscle/under suit this time around was stupid. When I'm on my laptop soon I'll show what I mean...

EDIT

Ok so. This is the JL under suit -

This is the MoS under suit -

See how the MoS under suit's muscles blend in together and are fuller. Yet for some reason the JL suit has these very ridged muscles just glued on. That's why they look bad in the film. Yes...the lighting does make a difference...but this is way more important.
See what I mean here?

If they'd just blended the muscles it would've looked a million times better.

Then there is this beautiful perfection -

See the middle one? The suit looks so much brighter than in the other shots yet the muscles don't look fake at all.

The color filtering messed up the suit. Look at when Superman meets Alfred that is how the suit was supposed to look. WB messed up the suit when they changed the filtering.
