His JL suit is a bit too busy for my liking, but while this may work on a comic book page (though, there have been better designs), it just doesn't work in live-action to me. Especially the gloves.

Frankly, if Spider-Man's costume, or Superman's costume, or Batman's costume works in live action I see absolutely no reason Aquaman's wouldn't.

$

That statues looks like Jesus in a Aquaman suit.

Well, all of the characters you mentioned are wearing some sort of flexible, protective fabric. Aquaman, on the other hand, wears an armor and you can't make a long-sleeved scalemail and move properly in it. Even if they do away with scalemail and just make some sort of textured breastplate, due to sleeves, it would look more like a sweater than any armor that was ever made and again, full armored sleeves don't make any sense. Also, I always found these green gloves hideous and bracers (like he had in "Young Justice", for example) to be much more fitting.

Yeah adding those guys is going to bump things up. I really hope this turns out well (above any other individual DC project).

i would not at all be surprised if when all is said and done this ends up being the most expensive film ever made.

i really hope it turns out well too.

Yea I think that aquaman costume works actually. I'd go a tad darker on the pants and armor the gloves a bit but it definitely stays true to the character.

OMG I was just about to write those exact words.

Seriously though, that ain't a great costume imo. It's comic accurate, sure, but that doesn't = good.

Would look great in my fish tank !

heaven forbid that a movie based on a comicbook superhero called "aquaman" should have flamboyant costume design

I don't see the connection. Last time I checked he wasn't called "flamboyant design man"

:hehe: I don't see how it could be legit... there's no chance there was any sort of figure being made this early into production. Also, I very much doubt they'll change his trident.

well it could be part of the pre-production stuff. I hope you're right though because it's atrocious

There's no way that Aquaman will be wearing bright green gloves. lol

Yeah, I was thinking about it, and while there's a slight chance for that to be the case, I still doubt it, because even if they do make such figures during pre-production process, we never got to see any of those before. I don't think something like that could leak that easily. Also, that trident is very familiar to me, I can bet I've seen it somewhere before, so it's probably a mashed-up custom figure of some sort.

:cwink:

I'm sure that outfit is for underwater stuff...I hope. Although the Mera suit looked about the same which reminded me of a disco ball...

Well, there's a reason why Black Narcissus once called a part of her outfit "disco pants".

I just see it as the equivalent of them modernizing Wonder Woman by making her design have a Greco-Roman influence to it with armor, a leather skirt, a sword ect. Then reverting back to her wearing star-spangled underoos and looking like this

They successfully modernized Aquaman by making him borrow from Polynesian culture. The Armor is remiscent of fish scales without being that form-fitting atrocity or being orange yet it does have hints of gold and green to stay somewhat faithful to the source material. It also seems utilitarian and practical because it's essentially battle armor and probably protects him from the immense pressure per square inch. It's also appropriately regal and imposing. Most importantly he doesn't look like Jesus in a leotard with rubber kitchen gloves and rain boots.

Yeah, I completely understand where you're coming from. And do agree with it. I still think that JL suit could be improved, but this would be the opposite of improvement.

All the designs in DCEU so far have been more or less logical and in touch with what these respective characters were meant to represent as well as depicting the background they come from. Design on this figure stands so much from this approach that it doesn't take anything else for me to believe it is fake.

The comic book accurate Aquaman suit is superior. Justice League version is too complicated, it just looks like a bunch of jumbled bronze armor.

It is a bit too busy, but it is at its core a muscle armor. Traditionally worn by emperors and centurions. So, same as the BvS retiarius outfit with manica, it is borrowing from Roman culture.

I don't know...maybe the statue isn't real...

There is something fishy about it........:woot:

I was just joking about green gloves.

Aquaman will not be wearing gloves --that JL costume dispelled that. If they're going to have him wearing gloves, it will be an entirely different costume. Think similar to Affleck's Batsuit with armours --totally different from Aquaman's armoured JL suit.

well.... yes that was kind of a given.

don't be so sure... I thought so too until I saw Mera

looking like she came straight out of the CW
That would only be true if her costume was made out of a leather jacket.

I wonder if we'll see that BVS outfit again. I really liked it and really like the fact that they're borrowing from real cultures and history and weaving it with these fictional characters and civilizations.

haha.. :cwink: no really that looks just about right for a high end superhero tv show. I'm hoping it's just an under armor type thing but even then... yeesh...

The solo movie costume is accurate and its not like she has to wear armor all the time.
