I'd say it's human nature. A person that has done much more good is more likely to be forgiven for their flaws than a person that has done bad. Marvel built up a huge amount of goodwill towards their fans that fans are willing forgive some of their flaws because for the most part, Marvel has been successful at what they've done so far.

It's the same Christopher Nolan and his movies. That's why many people are willing forgive the flaws of TDKR.

It would have to take a monumental Green Lantern/X-Men Origins-sized disaster to get fans to turn on them.

Thats your opinion as fan of the comics but they aren't just changing race for the sake of change. Michael B. Jordan according to the director of Chronicle who is also directing the FF calls Jordan a genius. He wants to work with him again because he is one of the best actors he's ever worked with regardless of race. If he gets picked up for the role it will be because he is the best qualified. I think everyone would appreciate that kind of equality for any job they applied to and not be limited because of race, gender, or sexual orientation.

but comic book Blade and movie Blade are like two different animals movie blade is way better

What you described is not "best qualified" its a director playing favorites...

I don't think Bryan Singer being friends with Ian McKellen, or Chris Nolan being friends with Michael Cain take anything away from them being some of the best choices for their respective roles.

Great points made by you.

Still, the fan reaction will always be pretty much the same. If Marvel Studios made The Amazing Spider-Man, people would have **** their pants over it. And if Fox or Sony made Iron Man Three, the outrage would have been legendary.
Eh i don't necessarily agree to that. People REALLY loved the first two spiderman films under raimi and Sony. Amz's turn out was not sony as a labels fault, it was spiderman 3's distaste and the distaste for a reboot in general.

Fox does have more hatred toward it. But its incredibly logical to see why. They have made 9 marvel films and over half have been considered flops. Id argue there's only 4 generally sought after good marvel films at fox. 1 wast even a theatrical release (the daredevil directors cut, (its theatrical release is often panned )), and 3 xmen films (X1,X2, and XFC). And those films are still good despite some really unfamiliar characterizations, odd choices, and continuity issues.... Things most people actually do try to ignore (like the nolan films) because they're still good films. Otherwise.... They'd be unforgivable like most movie criticisms.

That's your opinion.

No... "i like the actor, he's great and i enjoy working with him" is an opinion. That speaks nothing of "best qualified" because it implies that the director really isnt even attempting to look or test anyone else.... And that they may have already made up their mind and be biased if they were going to do so.

You just described most directors.. heck, most people in general.

Oh Im aware. But its inccorrect to phrase them as "best suited for the role" then. Its just the one you choose to represent your vision.

I find it ridiculous to believe MBJ is "the best and only" person to pull off an amazing johnny storm. That is a bit ludicrous.

Also... Its kind of like fans thinking everyone has to universally love every comic book movie to mean its a good film. There's reasons why some people only like certain heroes and only read certain comics while not being a fan of others. Yes, some movies are just horrible movies. ... But eventually these movies will end up just like the books. Some people will love a film others will hate it. Some heroes will carry a franchise where others may only carry a 1film "one shot"

Well, I don't think that. I do think he's incredibly talented and would make one hell of a Johnny Storm... and could very well be "the best" there is.

Jp id be shocked in all honesty if he was even at the top of your list fir johnny before the rumor came into fruition...

I think 90% of supported hopped on the bandwagon once the idea was already out there....

That's a moot point.

How many people had RDJ before Iron Man, Evans before Captain America, Hemsworth before Thor, etc?

I actually saw RDJ pop up quite a few times in casting threads to be honest...

And my point still stands. People are often sheep. They hear one choice that is either locked in or rumored to be and suddenly "no one else" could ever play the role or do better.....

People thought that about Reeves , Keaton ; Maguire ......

Every one of course has favorites but its a wee bit silly to assume there's really only one choice or option. And that because the director chose them, it means they have to be the best....

Was Kirsten Dunst truly the best actress for MJ? Topher Grace the best Eddie Brock? Halle Berry the best Storm? Catwoman??, was Julian the best choice for Victor Von Doom??

The "directors choice" (or vision) is not always the "best suited for the role"

Who acts like no one can play the role better?

Of course the Director's choice doesn't mean that simply because there's the idea, and then there's execution. The truth is, we don't know how he'll do for certain. We like to think that whoever gets the role does it well. I think MBJ can knock it out the part. Whether he would be for certain if cast is unknown.

What you're saying are either general, obvious things. What me, and I think JP are saying is that, race aside, he is a great choice for the role and he's one of the best qualified based on quality, not just nepotism. We don't know what Trank or Fox have up their sleeves.

And i get that. But "one of the best qualified imo" is very different than "he's the best qualified" that phrase is what Im arguing.

They were all brought up in casting threads prior. In fact one poster here (can't remember who) suggested Hemsworth like a year or more ahead of time, before anyone had ever heard of him.

How many people had Heath freakin' Ledger as the Joker before he was cast?

Literally no one ever.

I could name probably about at least 3...:yay:

He was indeed great in the role. But id be lying if i still didn't yearn for a live action version to hamil's joker. If we got that.... That's my idea of perfect.

Mjb could be great at an original interpretation of the character. Like ledger. But.... That's just essentially giving me a cup of tea i didnt ask for when Im still waiting for my tea i did order.

And also.... Lets not kid ourselves.... Johnny storm isn't the most in depth character in comic books either... So a joker (or villain role period) comparison is a bit ridiculous

Unreal... I just looked up all three of the names I mentioned, and... :wow:

It's all true.

It's Witchcraft! Witchcraft I'll tell ya!

He could also be great at a classic interpretation of the character.

I just don't see why there's a problem with people thinking that MBJ would be a great Johnny? I think he'd be great because he's young, handsom, in great shape, extremely talented, and played a very similar role already. Pretty simple.

By default.... He can not be Mr blond ambition . And thus not "classic iconic johnny storm" you gotta act (and look) that to be it. 1-2 punch both are important

There's nothing wrong with wanting it or liking it. Just as much as there's nothing wrong with those expressing why they don't want it.

Well, I disagree with that. To me, MBJ simply has everything I'd look for when casting a character like Johnny. The only thing he doesn't have is white skin.

Is that all that different than anyone else who is great in a role, but has one or two things that are different? Like Jackman's Height, or RDJs entire personality.

And Helen Mirren and Morgan freeman would make a fantastic Xavier and Magneta if it was a complete free for all... But it wouldn't feel remotely familiar.

How about we get the Fantastic Four on screen correctly before we need a freshly new take on them...
