One quick question:

I think I missed one plot point of Kick Ass and its bugging the hell out of me. When CMP's character was laying out his plan to his dad, he said that they had to set up one of their own men. Why? What did that have to do with catching Kick-Ass and Big Daddy?

So they could introduce Red Mist on the news busting a bad guy and that Kick-Ass would see it. Keep in mind that they still thought Kick-Ass was the one killing off their men.

so i've heard from a couple people that the sequel is not happening? is it because of the ticket sales or something?

Red Mist taking down a big mafia guy = instant hero reputation = word spreads out = Kick-Ass finds out about him.

Remember at this point noone knew about Big Daddy, so they thought Kick-Ass was the one killing all the mobsters.

Yeah it seems the movie isn't a box office hit or anything in the US. :(

Terrible Costumes!
obviously you never read the book
but either you didnt see the movie or trailer (cause you would understand if you did) and just saw clips here and there....orrrrrr you get confused with films easy.

Giving 1/10 simply because of costumes is the worst trolling i've seen in a long time. :/

Eh, I'm gonna stick with my 0/10.

Had the potential, didn't follow through, it didn't feel motivated enough.

yea, no *****,

how someone couldn't pick up on that is beyond me

Unfortunately, I think this is partially what's contributing to the movie's lack of breakthrough success. Between the goofy costume (specifically Kick-Ass' which appears regularly as the movie poster), hyper-violence and R-rating, a lot of people don't seem to be taking the movie seriously and think it's just another brainless parody a la Epic Movie. Which couldn't be further from the truth, really. Yes, it can be enjoyed as such but you wind up missing so much more.

Yea i agree. People probably just see it as a spoof.

When really, it has a pretty serious message about societies ever growing apathy towards their fellow man underneath all the insane violence and humour.

Not one second of the movie I saw it as a spoof... in fact I see it as glorifying the superhero genre... When I read comments saying this movie is a spoof of Superheroes I was baffled.

I'm pretty sure in the Empire interview with Matthew Vaughn, he explains that the movie acts as a tribute to the genre, from style to references. Obviously that could partially be described as spoofing, but the intention is for it to be a tribute.

Yea... "tribute" , thats the correct word to describe it... certainly not "spoof"
A spoof would be something like Superhero Movie

Well that comes down to the piss poor marketing.

The ads and trailers make it look like a violent and better produced version of Superhero Movie. Nothing more.

****, I thought the trailers made it out to be "Spy Kids" for teenagers. For some odd reason that's the vibe I got

Hmm yea... the TV Spots i saw made it look like it couldn't be taken seriously...

they definitley get a huge f'ng FAIL in the promoting department for this movie, couldn't have done worse there. The trailers should have fit the movie better, should've been more posters, shirts, all around more merchandise, etc.

huge FAIL for such a GREAT movie

Any news how much or well little this movie did this weekend? :( Buu pessimism.

think it would have been better if red mist/chris d'amico's real identity was revealed after the fact, not in the intro. just really makes his betrayal have less of an impact. cage sounded like he was doin shatner impression, not batman. i liked the movie but didnt love it.
