Everything is cool, but the mask which is too baggy.

^I personally preferred him getting the girl, it made more sense to the story and it also made the scene of when he getting tortured by the mob guys A LOT more tension filled.

Funny thing, Katie/Dave don't even get a 'thank god you're alright' reunion scene at the end of the movie. Just a brief makeout as the camera pans to Red Mist.

The movie ends on the real relationship of consequence, which is Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass. The Katie character in the movie is just a prop.

JMO.

Yeah this is true, she isnt really a main character in the movie, but she does definately serve a purpose, and the story just works better with her and Dave getting together IMO.

Watched the movie for the second time today. Even more amazing! Great film. Great characters. And i really loved Nic Cage. And this is coming from a guy who realy hate him as an actor.

Just read Kick-Ass 2 #1 today (finally), and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it beyond my expectations, and I mean that. I'll talk about it more once real discussions can kick off, but I must say I'm urging to buy myself a second copy before it's gone.

I got a quick question. Matthew said that they tried to only use things that could be ordered online for Kick-Ass, Mist, etc. I was wondering what is Hit Girls double ended sword called? I have looked the past 30-40 minutes. I give up and thought I'd go the easy way and ask if you guys knew it's proper name. thanks

Those Mindy sticks were a modified weapon. Basically a bo with a katana blade attached.

I think it is just a poorly written piece. It is darker and more cynical than the film, but that doesn't mean it's better. It's just overly snarky and suffocates the reader with a sarcastic tone that while funny the first three issues is just boring by the 7th or 8th issues.

And while the film had a fun, snappy and zippy pacing and style--the book comes off as smug and a dreary march towards an ending that tries too hard to be hip.

The film wasn't Hollywood...literally. Hollywood did not want to make it and did not. The film is just entertaining and saw the story had more value as a light hearted piece of escapism than a witty, if smug smirk.

Agree with most of what you said though if you can accept that both exist as separate entities you can appreciate both.

Ya Kick-Ass holds up very well through multiple viewings.

So, anybody else checking out book 2?

Even if you didn't care for the first book, like myself, it is a great start. It is incredibly entertaining and a far more balanced story.

^I will check it out when its in GN form definately, I prefer to read the one story as a whole personally.

Been working on a makeshift Hit Girl costume for Halloween, because Hit Girl is my role model (lol). Getting the right wig was a pain in the butt, lemmetellya!

When I finally found a wig with the right color, it was way too long ... So I just went and cut it. I think it turned out OK considering I've never cut hair before in my entire life! Haha.

I don't have the entire thing ready just yet because I'm too lazy to get into full costume, but here's a little preview: http://twitpic.com/31ztqc

Personally think it looks really well done! Did you ever consider buying a wig of similar look and perhaps hairspraying it? It still looks great, and you sport it very well (nifty mask, too).

Thanks a bunch! :)

I saw many wigs with a similar style, but they always were in colors I didn't want or like. Most of the "purple" ones looked too pink for my taste. I probably would have been able to find a good color online, but I procrastinated to the point where I wouldn't receive it in time for Halloween.

I had thought about buying some spray to dye one of those wigs, but I figure it wouldn't have been such a good idea. I'll be wearing this costume tomorrow to go barhopping with my friends. Bars+dancing=sweating ... And sweating wouldn't be a good thing with those spray dyes since they wash off easily.

And here's a funny story about the mask: It's actually a mask from a Spider-Girl costume I own. I was going to make my own mask for the costume, but I figure that this one looks good enough. lol.

I was gonna say that it seemed like a somewhat Black Cat/Spider-Woman style, but it still adds a nice effect. Fan costumes are always fun for innovations I find.

For anyone waiting for the price to drop on Blu-Ray, Bestbuy.com has Kick-Ass Blu for $12.99 right now.

Has anyone seen the Kick-Ass figures? I'm sorry, but they kinda suck...

Kick-Ass is making it's way to Japan. Though looks like they're promoting it as a Hit-Girl movie, haha.
