The Last Defenders

Endsong is a mess of a book, I don't even count that as a X-story.

Jen could lead, and yeah with the Initiative they (Jen,Pete, BlazSkull) wouldn't have a say in who will lead them.

I just think Colossus really needs this chance to shine.

I doubt Tony's up and about to trust her with a team of her own, when Nighthawk seems more trustworthy.

Don't sugarcoat it. She's got a rep for being a ****. :o

Now now, be nice. I won't participate in the "double standard".

You know what? If he gets a good amount of feats of strength in the book then I'll be happy. He can start building his rep while being Muscles #2; no rules against that

The problem is that getting said feats of strength as Muscle #2 is a horribly uphill battle. Name me one time, any time, Wonder Man upstaged an Avengers roster that had Thor or Hercules on it.

Maybe Colossus will be taking more of a leadership role, Nighthawk doesn't have the best track record and none of these guys would have any loyalty towards him.

Eh, I doubt that.

Nighthawk isn't a half bad leader, and would probably do well. And given that it's a government team, they basically assign the leader. It's not up to the team.

Nighthawk was usually unstable enough, at least in comparison to Dr. Strange, that he didn't lead the Defenders for TOO long at a time. He was key at funding them, though. Out of the roster he has some leadership experience.

And, yes, he was one of the few heroes who went from Secret Avenger to Iron Man's flunkies without the aid of the end of the CW. The Initiative would have some trust in him. Plus, he helped convince Constrictor to give the Shadow Initiative a go.

Colossus proved in Phoenix Endsong that he cannot lead a team. When the time comes to make quick decisions with serious consequences; Petey often stops to consider his feeeeelings. :(

I'd be cool w/ Jen leading. She was a SHIELD agent

Eh, true, but if you knock off Colossus for his emotions, then that counts out Jen who has had some rare "Hulk moments" in her past. ;)

ENDSONG wasn't that bad. Now WARSONG, that was drivel. I couldn't even finish it, and I usually finish every mini I start, even bad ones. Not WARSONG.

I agree that Colossus DESPERATELY needs a chance to shine, and it needs to be prolonged. I mean, hey, think about it: "I am made of RAGE!" was THREE YEARS AGO.

I doubt Tony's up and about to trust her with a team of her own, when Nighthawk seems more trustworthy.

Considering Jen got repowered despite his SPIN tech and has been trying to do lawsuit judo with him, yeah, I doubt Tony Stark would trust her to lead any team. Unless he makes her leader to keep her as a lapdog, as has worked with Ms. Marvel.

Nighthawk's leading the team. What is this nonsense about picking leaders? Nighthawk is forming the team, apparently, so Nighthawk gets to lead. He's a poor man's Iron Man, remember?

I carry no doublestandard, I call everybody a **** as they deserve. Wonderman, Iron Man, Carol Danvers, Jennifer Walters, Mystique, Wolverine, a ton of em. :o

I won't lessen the truth for sake of being "nice." Never been my style. :cmad:

And Carol isn't really his lapdog. He simply just trusts her to do the job right. She wouldn't exactly be a threat if she were against him, and it's not like she couldn't be replaced.

As for Jen, he would only give her a team after a long time of building trust again. He wouldn't give a team to a person who might simply use the info and funding to fund terrorists unless he wanted a reason to arrest all of them.

True. I just think that in comics these days, strength classes are near-meaningless. They could have Jen rip up a tank and have Colossus eat a submarine lol. They must have some plan for not having the traditional 1 powerhouse. Maybe we'll see a lot of tag-team moves.

Haha, I immediately thought of her during Avengers Disassembled. Poor Vision :(

Yeah, we need an extension on that rage

The made of Rage thing was his highlight, that's sad.

My question is why does he need to be the strongest guy on the team?

Pete has other qualities.

I wouldn't go that far. Especially as the "rich guy who fights crime" was done a few times in DC long before Iron Man. ;)

But, yeah, I forgot the actual solict. Nighthawk's leading, and as I state, he has the most experience at doing so, having led past Defenders incarnations. Which means hopefully he'll try to tap Gargoyle (who WILL appear), Valkyrie and Hellcat in addition to these newer members.

There's no male equalivent to **** as a word. People try to merge it by creating words like "himbo" or "man-****", but they aren't words of their own.

Carol is Stark's lapdog. She has done everything Stark has asked of her. Everything. Leading a team to baiting the New Avengers by spreading a rumor that Cap wasn't dead, all she has done is give token remourse about it, which means nothing in comparison to actions. The leadership role is expected to placate her, or at least keep her busy, and it worked.

I doubt he'd do the same with Jen, overall. But, as Corp reminded, Nighthawk's leading.

Yeah, but he didn't do it to make her a lapdog. And she's definitely struck out on her own and questioned his orders in the past. Up to the point she's willing to kick people off the team without his say so, as well as add against his cautions.

Ever wonder how those reporters found out in the first place that Stark was making cash, and funding the villans? Sure in the hell wasn't Captain America or Spider-Man.

And a **** is a **** is a **** is a ****. There need be no special naming. :o

Joe Casey described Nighthawk as a "poor man's Iron Man," not I. He said he's looking forward to exploring the similarities and differences between the two in TLD (yeah, I'm abbreviating that mother****er months before it even comes out, shut up).

And special pheremones he knew about from the Black Widow project. :o

And people say Tony's an ass, and then glorify Fury. XD

Well, he is one of the most wanted men in the world at the moment. A little discretion is not amiss.

Yet, he's more than willing to help people sought after by SHIELD. x.x

Not TOO smart. I want to see his return though. I wonder if Stark will re-give him the Director position.

Eh, he's helping people in such a way that no one can find him still. He's the uber-spy; he knows how not to get caught.

I think Natasha is way more of Tony's lapdog than Carol

Tony certainly has the hots for her, if you believe Mighty Avengers (and Bendis' annoying thought balloons).

WILLING to kick people off, but hasn't.

If simply questioning orders accounted to not being a lapdog, then people wouldn't hate the entire Bush administration. But it doesn't matter if you question something if you do it anyway.

Abbreviate all you want, helps us type faster. ;)

Hmm. I never saw Nighthawk as a poor man's Iron Man considering that on an alternate world he's a riff on Batman, but whatever. We'll see what he makes of it.

So long as Colossus is handled well.

Wtf is Nick up to these days anyway?

Leading Winter Soldier around.

And Falcon

Basically in a bunker like Dick Cheney is always in.

Well, yeah, he started out as a Batman analogue, but the 616 version of the character has evolved a lot over the years. I could definitely see him as a poor man's Iron Man now.

Yeah that's my issue with this also, he's more Batman than Ironman, I don't see the similairities.
