Well now, you can't just say a thing like that and not tell us more!

Sorry, but that one I keep to myself.
Maybe I'll share next time I post drunk.
Unrelated to my above edit, but, Optimus will be happy. My girlfriend and I broke up today.
I don't really want to go into any details about what happened, or who did what, or any of that, but I'll just say while I'm disappointed about the outcome, I'm doing alright with it.
I don't understand why I'd be happy. I'm didn't make a prediction about you two breaking up?Unrelated to my above edit, but, Optimus will be happy. My girlfriend and I broke up today.

Ah. Well yeah, it sucks. I'd just start texting other girls or go out and do something, take your mind off of it.Didn't you say you thought she'd break up with me before she went away for the summer?
And anyways, it was meant in jest (something that I know doesn't translate well on the internet) because you've said a lot of stuff about her banging around with other dudes on the side, and how I should leave her and stuff.
Yeah that sort of attitude comes with maturity, though. If I can just say one thing - I wish all the constant rejection I've gotten in my life was as simple and straight forward as this breakup, I probably wouldn't be so jaded.
It was perfectly amicable (amiable? Not sure the word I'm looking for) there are no hard feelings, there are no loose strings, it really is as simple as we gave it a shot, and it's just not the right place at the right time. It's disappointing, to be sure, you never get into a relationship wanting it to fail, but we gave it a shot, and found that it wasn't right, and so it's no more. You can't ask for much more than that really.
I mean, it's better than the alternative of locking yourself in a dark room listening to Adele.
I have complicated feelings about Adele. I love her voice (second altos unite!I mean, it's better than the alternative of locking yourself in a dark room listening to Adele.
You're probably also better at spotting rejection now that you're more experienced in relationships (I mean I feel we can say that you are at this time), and then more receptive to it too. A lot of times people spare your feelings because they think they have to, and the fact that she is straight forward is because she thinks you can take it -- that's really not a bad thing. Means she considers you an adult. Which is really all you want.If I can just say one thing - I wish all the constant rejection I've gotten in my life was as simple and straight forward as this breakup, I probably wouldn't be so jaded.

No reason to listen to that music ever.I mean, it's better than the alternative of locking yourself in a dark room listening to Adele.

Or possibly it comes when you're not that emotionally invested in the person in the first place?
I mean, if you are rejected by someone you have very strong feelings for, it breaks you're heart, no matter how mature you are.
Well sure, but you can also acknowledge that it just didn't work out and it isn't one person's fault.Or possibly it comes when you're not that emotionally invested in the person in the first place?

I guess there's a lot of truth in this, but despite that once you have some experiences with rejection you do tend to invest in degrees without going into something full-heartedly. Perhaps that's the better way to go about it in the end. Not that it means you're "safer" emotionally or anything, just that you invested appropriately.

Yeah I agree with that. I think the more you've been 'burned' the less quickly you fall in love in the first place
