Was bored and watched I Love Lucy and learned they were paying $125 a month for that apartment on that show. Then discovered with inflation that their apartment was worth $1200 in rent in today's world.

I kinda get the feeling though that was kinda a "Friends" situation back then too though.

Like, on Friends there is no way a place as big as the units the guy and gals had would be affordable to them. Same with Lucy. I think whatever they claimed was rent was still too low for a place the size they presented.

For New York especially. I always wanted a place like Monica's. It was eclectic and chic. Being Texas everything is modern and minimalistic.
 
How much would a Friends style apartment in NY cost these days? (to buy and to rent)

I always figured the Friends friends lived in rent controlled units. I've heard you can get serious market distortions because of the New York rent control system.

When I was a kid, I was madly in love with that apartment. I even had a brief phase of wanting to live in NYC because I thought apartments were just like that there. :funny:
