The New Ghostbusters - Part 6

I'm going to see this new one no matter what because I'm a diehard GB fan.

Cautiously optimistic that they'll make a decent GB flick.

being a diehard fan is precisely the reason I'll avoid this movie like the plague
if you loved the originals, don't expect the new ones to be anything like them

This just reminds me of Robocop, in that I'm extremely skeptical over it, but waiting to hear what people say about it before I decide when I'll watch it.

Well you don't know that and there is no need to try and convince people not to see this.

''First look''? We've seen what the characters look like, they've had their own posters and Feig posted pics of some of the new gear on Twitter ages ago.

I get that people don't like teasers, but that's exactly what they are and you're talking about the film right? Job done. It's only 3 weeks away, let's not completely right off the film just yet.

Footage dude, not some behind the scene pics. That's where the hits go. I'm not comepltely writing the film off. I'm wrting off this 30 second thing almost a month before good footage comes out. As well as saying marketing needs to step up that they are making a good Ghostbuster film.

This isn't a well received piece of marketing. To ignore that is just being a bit unrealistic. It's gonna hurt the films wom for another three weeks. That's the last thing this film needs.

I actually really like that idea. Not sure whats to hate there.

The ghost designs have been real cool imo. Fitting to the animated series and films pretty well.

Alot of fans always wanted the ghost to be a character.

Of course it will depend on how it's portrayed in the film. But I really dig it.

It's probably me but the teaser footage looks like every other sony pictures movie.

"Spider-man" and "Mr Deeds"

This movie's dp also worked on Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Its dumb, but no more dumb than a giant marshmallow man stomping around the city and no more dumb than the statue of liberty walking around.

Lets not pretend the old films dont have their fair share of silly dumb things.

I'd be more concerned if we weren't seeing any silly dumb things to be honest.

Pretty much. Comes with the property.

Maybe folk have made this assumption already but in the case of
the logo ghost
being a bad guy do you think its just the result of a ghost
possessing the logo and bringin it to life
?

Heh. It's a nod to the animated series. The poster logo might be too.

So far nothing imaginative has been done. Same proton packs and sticks, same looking Ecto-1, same logo, same catch phrase, same jumpsuits w/extra stripes, ghosts from the past, a T-Rex ghost (I had no idea dinosaurs had spirits) and now the No-Ghost logo, but with sharp teeth and a bow tie. All we need is a demon looking ghost, oh wait the toys do show one.

This is looking like some kid is playing with their ghostbusters toys and is using other random toys as ghosts to fight his ghostbusters figures.

Once again, I have to believe the producers and director only ever saw the GB cartoon, and not the actual movies

Yes the movies had some goofy stuff in there, but this is all so lazy and derivative

Your second spoiler tag is probably the best option for the film and the only way they could save this boring and uninspired presentation, to be honest.

I want a new version or take on the Zuul beasts.

I'm confused. Its a problem to be drawing inspiration from the cartoon? Considering that probably has a bit stronger influence on my generation, I'm not seeing the problem.

I don't and cannot believe that the cartoon is more influential than the films

I love how some people whine about ever new idea this film presents...and simultaneously complain that it's copying the original version too much.

I suspect the ghost may in fact be the origin of the logo, like it's the first massive threat they defeat and it becomes their symbol.
