OMG!!!!

This is soooo good news. I am very excited for this movie and I hope we get filming and casting confirmations very soon. I love the 'Demon Bear Saga'. It is one of Claremont's highlights.

It is totally bonkers but such an atmospheric and amazing story. I cannot wait to see Dani Moonstar and hope she will be as central to the story as she should be to the storyline.

I hope they are not releasing this storyboard art because they want to see if it can creates some online hype like they did with the Deadpool test footage. I doubt that New Mutants can create a similar fanboy response like Deadpool did. JUST MAKE THIS MOVIE FOX ASAP whatever the response online will be.

it is also a great story to choose because it all takes place in one night at Xavier's school while Prof. X is out of town. They can easily show how Xavier and the other main X-Men are traveling somewhere and the young mutants will get attacked by the Demon Bear while they stay back at the institute. Thus it can fit very nicely in the cinematic FOX universe.

I am wondering how deep they will go into MAGIK's comicbook lore. Probably they will explain/simplify that her mutant powers is teleportation and she can teleport to other dimensions (e.g. she discovers the Limbo hell dimension. I already see a sequel happening taking place in Limbo telling Magik's story).

Lockheed will probably be re-imagined as a creature/demon from a hell dimension instead of being a alien from another planet?!

it looks like it also confirms the casting of Maise Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nat Wolff. Fox, fantastic casting like always! Anyone has an idea who Dani could be?

Whats the deal with the dragon? Are they going to change its origin? Kinberg was not kidding when he said this will be close to the comics. Its almost too close to the comics. Looks great.

Though I guess they'll have to change the fact that Lockheed was also with Kitty, I don't think they'll change his origin as an alien dragon, especially since Warlock will be involved in this film.

I don't think the concept animation looks anything like Maisie or Anya though, so I don't think we can confirm their casting yet. (Though given Boone's hints and some other things we heard, I feel like those two are pretty much a done deal. ATJ being the first choice/lead actor for Boone in the way McAvoy was Vaughn's first choice for Xavier).

Dani's actress will be the hard one to guess, but Boone has indicated on Twitter that he intends to cast a Native American actress.

I hope they cast an Afro-Brazilian actor as Bobby though.

Either way, nice to see New Mutants to get a boost of interest. This title in particular has interested me and Josh Boone is a proven director, so I've been interested to see his take, but for awhile, New Mutants seemed to have been...not shelved, but just quiet. But we're getting bits and pieces of information that all sounds positive so far.

It will be interesting to get a more supernatural tone put into the X-Men universe.

I think many assumed New mutants was just going to be X-Men: the next generation but i don't think thats the idea here.

I hope they get a Afro-Brazilian actor for Sunspot as well but I don't think they will. The last Sunspot actor was Mexican.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sebastian de Souza (Skins, The Borgias & Recovery Road) as Roberto da Costa (Sunspot). De Souza is of Portuguese and Indian descent but he could probably pull off Afro-Brazilian.

Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter franchise, How To Get Away With Murder & Sherlock) would make a good Doug Ramsay (Cypher)

For Dani Moonstar I think Tanaya Beatty (The Night Shift, Continuum, The 100 & Twilight). Amber Midthunder would of been my second pick but she is already in the Legion show.

Fox could do a supernatural toned trilogy with the New Mutants.

This could have easily been a tv show but I'm glad its a movie and with good reason it seems. I hope WB don't do something silly like putting a live action Teen Titans on tv. They should be on the big screen. I kinda hope Marvel reconsiders their small screen plans for the Runaways and New Warriors.

Yes, it would be super cool if we get a mystical trilogy with Demon Bear, Belasco (maybe telling Illyana's backstory in flashbacks) and Selene.

I wished X:A would have ended with Magneto staying at the school and maybe teaching a 'special class' or something.

If done right, Illyana could really become a breakout star. She is so iconic, creepy and fantastic. Very manga-esque and very complex.

I think Illyana's backstory is very fascinating. Her teleportation power could easily be used to explain how she ends up in a different dimension like Limbp. Her story is disturbing and very sad but still fantastically done by Claremont. I remember how Illyana just aged years in a brief moment and nobody knew what really happened to her. The reader found out about what happened months later. I love this mystery. Could be cool to have a similar scene in the beginning of the movie without explaining directly what happened to her and why she aged several years after she used her teleportation powers for the first time? New Mutants II would explain then everything in detail.

While there has been a rumoured report that storm is going to be in new mutants i wouldn't read to much into her comic role since its unlikely to be that faithful to the source material.

being 'faithful' to the source material is very relative...seeing Storm on screen is always a plus for me.

Great news.

That said, I hope they planned these movies ahead of time, especially the timeline for this. If they were to set this up as an 80's movie to pair up with X-men Apocalypse, they have to keep in mind that the next X-men movie (if we are to believe the rumors) will jump another decade to the 90's.

Sometimes you actually have to remind them wth they're doing.

I'd like this to be set in present day. You know, have a 'horror meets John Hughes' / Stranger Things type movie being set in present day, for the contemporary generation of kids and dealing with contemporary problems, instead of having it be yet another 1980s throwback actually set in the 1980s and yet another period X-Men movie.
