Find out who the New Avengers are, where they call home (gotta see it to believe it!), which Dark Avenger has joined their ranks, and just who the interdimensional demonic threat to our existence is! These heroes have gathered to take on the threats too dark, too dangerous, and too bizarre for any other team of heroes. The New Avengers are back!! And Bendis & Immonen are back with the Siege & Secret Invasion colorista Laura Martin!! You didn't really think Marvel was going to cancel their number one ongoing title did you? Heck no!! Backup feature: Another brand new oral history of the Avengers chapter by Bendis!
32 PGS./Rated A ...$3.99

I like where this is going.

:thing: :thing: :thing:

A Dark Avenger is on the team? Hmmmmm. I'm gonna guess Marvel Boy or the Protector or whatever they're calling him. Unless Carol dies in SIEGE #4 and that's Moonstone in her modern outfit.

Marvel better not try to make Moonstone as Ms. Marvel happen again. As seperate characters they are great.

I'm hoping it's the Protector in all honesty. I can't see them working with anyone on else on their team.

Ms. Marvel is on the wrong team. She is too big for this New Avengers stuff. Id rather her be in the other titles

I'll go down on record that what Marvel has done to Noh-Varr is stupid. Now, the Grant Morrison series he debuted in (which, believe it or not Marvel once technically considered in Ultimate continuity, least according to WIZARD) was hardly the best, but what made Marvel Boy interesting was that he wasn't a super-hero nor was he trying to follow the legacy of Captain Mar-Vell. He was a super powered Kree brat from another dimension who wanted to take over things. He would have, at best, made a good anti-hero for the space line, or possibly a bold new Fantastic Four villain. Instead, Bendis has attached him to Mar-Vell like with all the grace of the "Pigeon-Rat" that Bart's "evil" twin makes in the TREEHOUSE OF HORROR.

Now what has happened? Protector has nothing to do with Noh-Varr aside for his name. And he's become more boring. Instead of a decent new villain, Marvel has created another boring third rate hero who will go nowhere and no one cares about. Seriously, no one cares about Mar-Vell's legacy. Those that do have quite a few bastard children/clones of him to follow. Genis-Vell, Phyla Mar-Vell, even Hulkling in the semi-annual YOUNG AVENGERS. Did we really need a 4th? And think about that for a second...Noh-Varr is now the 4TH person trying to claim the legacy of a hero NO ONE HAS CARED ABOUT SINCE RONALD REAGEN WAS ELECTED! This right here is almost a shining example of what is wrong with editorial lack of imagination and resolve.

What next, Marvel? A FIFTH woman with spider related powers? How about another Hulk? Another kid of Wolverine's? Frankly I'm surprised no one has figured out how to make Sharon Ventura, the She-Thing, pretty enough that she pops up more often. Don't laugh, "alien science" quickly made Marrow pretty enough to show up more.

what happened to the Capt Marvel that came back during Civil War???

what happened to the Capt Marvel that came back during Civil War???

He turned out to be a Skrull sleeper agent who so believed he was Mar-Vell that he took on his value system and wanted to defend the Earth. The Skrulls eventually got him to fight for them during Secret Invasion and I'm not sure what happened to him. I recall him dying but I am not sure. It boiled down to a waste of time, personally.

The fact that the man that Teddy thought was really his father was just some Skrull soldier who wound up being wasted in the end it almost a cruel trick to play on a guy who had a missing/deadbeat father.

Captain Marvel is worse than Jean Grey in the ''OMG THE RETURN!" department. They just did that in the last issues of Ms. Marvel's ongoings where Mystique had her own Captain Marvel she was using to taunt Carol. He died too.

Wow, that is pretty terrible.

Hey, Jean Grey has (more or less) stayed dead now for about 5-6 years. That is a long time in comics. That is longer than Colossus was dead, or Thor, or Steve Rogers, or even Thanos. While it seems to be no secret that Hope is Jean Reincarnated, that hasn't exactly been stated yet, so who knows. Besides, is a reincarnation the same as a resurrection?

Funny you should mention Sharon Ventura, Dread.

Just think, if she was prettied up we could have another Ms. Marvel in the mix too.

:D

Oh and Havok... come on, man. Just having Ben on the team makes this team a little more powerful than just a Street Level team. I don't remember anything in the interviews about this even being a Street Level team.

Ben has taken out Ultron on his own.
Spider-man defeated the X-Men.
Luke Cage has jacked the Purple Man.
Logan and Ben tackle the Hulk by themselves.

This is no street level team. If you ask me they need one magic member to make them a New New Defenders. Especially if they stick to this "dark, dangerous, and bizarre" theme.

The Hand? Bah. Try facing the Yancy Street Gang.

It was a long, long, LONG time ago doing SECRET WARS when Spider-Man beat the X-Men. Under no circumstance would that be allowed to happen again. Heck, we should be lucky Spider-Man is able to defend himself against ninja in team books.

Not even Ben will get me to bite on a Bendis Avengers book again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, and all that.

I'll admit it. I'm a Thing ****e.

:D

If Bendis take a Defendery direction with this mag, I'll be very happy. Hell, he might even be good at Horror style and not even know it.

I'm willing to give any book with Ben in it at least an arc.

I honestly do not think Bendis can write Avengers stories well. He cares more about plot than character and when he decides to do a character issue, everything grinds to a halt so a particular character can whine. I swear if he makes Thing a whiner I'd scream. If anything Thing has become less of a complainer about his situation than he ever has. He's had many chances to be normal for periods of time (even having his rock form be optional due to a brief side effect from Grey Gargoyle). Mark Waid once called Ben, "the most fleshed character in the Marvel Universe" in a feature for the 2006 cartoon series box set, and I don't disagree. If anything, the Thing is the shining example of making lemonade out of the lemons life gives you.

Still, unless I hear some absolutely raving reviews, I don't think I am biting on more Bendis Avengers. I gave NEW AVENGERS a good, long, 3-4 year try. I read all 20 issues of his MIGHTY run. Going back is almost like expecting Chris Claremont to not suck, just once, since his return. Or Jeph Loeb. It's setting yourself up for failure.

I'll be setting up shop with Brubaker's SECRET AVENGERS and Gage's AVENGERS ACADEMY.

I think this book has a very boring roster. I really dont care for the combination of characters selected. I like Ms. Marvel but dont want her here. Im glad Spidey is staying and think he fits here, as does Cage. Wolverine, however has no business with the Avengers as he's never really added anything and Ive never found Thing to be particularly interesting. This cast seems the less exciting out of whats been released so far. Plus its being writtne by Bendis, who was great in the beginning btu has since appeared to be creatively bankrupt when it comes to the New Avengers. I was hopng for some new blood but that doesnt seem to be in its future

Moonstone will be in Thunderbolts, so I doubt it.

That's right. You're the only person in the world who doesn't like Ben. I vow to assault you with clips until you join the rest of us in the Clean World.

You're an X-Men fan so here's one with Rogue.

Oh... and Ben IS that new blood you were looking for.

Dark Avenger member will probably be Protector though it'd be crazy to get Bullseye on this team. We are talking about Bendis after all.
