The New NEW Exiles??

Did Claremont ever get to closing out the Morph/Proteus thing?

There's no way it could have ended well. It should never have started in the first place actually :o

I don't think Exiles will ever be getting my money again....unless Mimic comes back and CC isn't writing.

Black Knight and Deathlok might work well, but as a whole that team seems pretty boring.

It just seems like one of those writers that throws a bunch of random elements together and hopes he is seen as trying to do something different....but ultimately doomed to fail since there isn't much name value there.
Thanks for the critique. All I have trouble with is that the team seems rather underpowered, although it's not really that. As it stands though, I think this team has quite a bit of a story potential. And of course, in Exiles fashion, it wouldn't last the entire series.

and the rest of my group:

She Hulk

super funny and super sexy how is this not a must?

Gravity

Liked his first few issues went way off course could be cool though. Needs a costume change

Lionheart

a character that started great then got bogged down.

Of course all picks would be subject to gender switch and alternate world goodness that makes them not quite are own.

Just quoting myself so picks are next to each other:D
It was a long weird story Corp he was the son of a Black namore and the invisible woman and they called him Gambit he had the powers of both which is really sick if you think about it.

I gues my Line up would be:

Blink

616 Mimic

He'll need a new costume pronto. Blink should try to give him one of her mimics and he should be like I don't want too look that lame:D

I like the idea of adding different characters than we are used to seeing, but it does need at least a familiar face or two.

I like your idea of black Knight and Deathlok, both are great characters and would work well within the confines of the team. Carol as Captain Marvel would even be ok.

I would say that Blink is one staple that should stay on the team, even in a mentors capacity considering her experience with universe jumping.

A couple more to round out the team, maybe some variations of more well known heroes and the team should work fine.

I'd contemplate a six-man roster, since that was the size of the original line-up, but not more than that.

As to having familiar faces: I'd rather not. Like I said, I think the Exiles book for now, is rather tainted. It and everyone that has starred in it has been a mess for a while now, including Blink. I'd be starting all over.

Only Mimic, Puma, and Gravity I think the rest would be slightly altered.
Then I don't really see the point of them being Exiles. I know Claremont and Bedard started the mess by adding in 616 characters, but I always think the team should do without.

You want an Exiles team? Something completely different? I'll give you an all-new all-different Exiles.

derbrennendemann.jpg

Der Brenndende Mann / The Burning Man (James Hammond)
Originally a superhero on the Allied side, the android once known as the Human Torch was reprogrammed after Nazi Germany and Russia won the Second World War. Now, as the Burning Man, Jim Hammond is a state controlled weapon of order. A fascist hero so to speak and by the time he is thrown onto the Exiles team, one of forty years experience. There's instant conflict in a bottle.

deathlok.jpg

Deathlok the Demolisher
Deathlok is an enigma. Amnesiac, all that Deathlok knows is that he was once made into a killmachine cyborg by the government and that he was damn good at doing whatever it was his government commanded him too. Too bad then that, just as he is made an Exile, his cybernetics have been destroyed and Deathlok must fall back on his own skills. Skills he's not sure he possesses. Oh yeah, and he's free. He and Hammond should have some interesting conversations.

redsonja.jpg

Red Sonja
Maybe the most lethal character of the Exiles. She doesn't really need a change from your normal Red Sonja character. Tough as nails she is and the one most likely to buck against the authority of her male teammates. Her ignorance of the modern day world is both an advantage and a disadvantage and a source of comic relief. Of course, when the Exiles naturally end up in a simile of her world, well, everybody better watch out.

blackknight.jpg

The Black Knight (Sir Percy of Scandia)
Okay, so we have a Nazi, a mercenary and a barbarian, so how about a chivalrous knight to balance the scales? Hopelessly outdated as he is, the Knight is not well-loved by his fellow Exiles, but he does offer a certain moral balance. Of course, we're still working by medieval values, so he's still in a grey area of heroics. He's from the time just before Camelot fell.

captainmarvel.jpg

Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)
Okay, so we've had a whole bunch of obscure characters. It's time for a well-known heroine that can lead the team unto the right path. Yes, I know she's not necessarily popular - Corp certainly doesn't like her - but damn it, I think she'd be great on a team like this if she were properly characterised (as everyone has pretty much failed to do since Busiek). Imagine it: a competent heroine and leader. One problem when the team gets thrown into the Kree/Skrull war though: she's pro-Kree.

Very interesting Grass hopper there are some definately cool enough to watch people on there. I thought about deadlock and blackknigt for my team but Red Sonja that's out of left field but like you say hilarity would ensue could definately be fun.

Yeah, Red Sonja's the only character I'm not really feeling, but I never particularly liked her. You could do a spin on that old Marvel Team-Up and have her be Mary Jane, stuck in Red Sonja's body on a world overrun with Hyborian horrors.

I really like the idea of a reprogrammed Nazi Torch, though.

Because the palace knows there are some jobs are heroes won't do it creates a secondary team.

And my baddies would be:
Punisher AKA the leader of this group
1ykfab.jpg

art curtesy of shado grail

the ultimate badass and strategist while human she prefers the quick silent never new you were there kills and she's got mad skills to back it up.

Carnage AKA Peter Parker

He's the mad tinkerer of the group who would rather sit in a lab and analyze specimen but is definately not above getting his hands dirty.

Hyperion

Reluctant to help this group. He's not a good guy he just doesn't dig being told what to do. He would think nothing of watching you burn but unless provoked he won't set you on fire either.

Polaris

Ultron

Who can't use a homicidal Robot right.

The Thing

After that fateful flight Ben Grimm gets the powers to stretch and burn all trapped in a monstrous rock body. The only other survivor Susan hunts him on his world. for whatever reason the thing is unwaveringly loyal to punisher and no one knows why...yet.

And last but not least Dr. Doom
jsn53k.jpg

art coutesy of silent gecko

5 minutes into his arrival doom has the whole team at each others throats and plotting to take over the multiverse so the crystal palace deeming him a thread removes him immediately:grin:

I like a couple of the ideas you guys have had but I'm gonna put my own spin on it.
I'd go with:

-Blink as their leader. Veteran Exile

-616 Mimic. (with full on hobo-beard action)

-Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider. From a reality in which Peter Parker died instead. He went on to fully become his own man and a long-time member of the New Warriors.

-616 Puma (Awesome character and Marvel's sure not doing anything worthwhile with him) Sometimes hero, sometimes villain. Most morally ambiguous member of the team.

- Black Knight, Dane Whitman from a reality further into the future than the 616. Using the ebony blade as well as embracing his own technological skills. Wears an armor that is a fusion of mystical artifacts and high technology.

- Gravity. From an alternate reality similar to the Black Knight's. Full grown veteran superhero. Has grown in power and control significantly from the 616 version.

- Janet Van Dyne, the Wasp. Alternate reality where the skrulls won in the Secret invasion the replaced heroes had been killed and most humans ended up as their slaves.
Has been leading a guerrilla war against the skrull regime ever since. Has full control of her size changing powers. Can grow and shrink and has augmented biological stingers.

I'd actually like to see a Black Knight who's totally succumbed to the Ebony Blade's blood curse on a Weapon X team. A bloodthirsty killer who literally lives for combat and has powers far beyond our own Dane because of how much the Blade has tainted his soul with its black magic. He could be from a reality where he kills Merlin and conquers Avalon, turning it into a hellish abattoir of horrors. Rather than chivalric Camelot imagery, his look would be inspired by twisted, pointy gothic stylings and he would be Weapon X's wild card. :)

You and your Black Knight... :whatever:

:oldrazz:

Just to check on a thing:

Morph is back, in spirit anyway. He and Proteus are sharing the body.

"Sharing" in the sense that Proteus is wearing Morph like a hand-puppet as he does his ghoulish, ghastly Morph impression, or has the actual Morph's personality been brought back in some measure?

I hope this is good. Parker's a good writer an' the book went to crap under Claremont. I also hate that it's always considered an X-book. Should be more of a mixed line-up. Wish Bedard was able to stick around longer, but he was just the transitional fill-in.

Everyone should love the Black Knight. He's awesome.

And the evil Black Knight could be a pretty cool idea. It would leave room for his comeback and redemtion arc. Which, in turn, if handled well could also be awesome.

He was the son of Namor and Susan Storm.

The thing is...it didn't make any sense, even by Marvel standards. Claremont sort of ignored the whole point behind alternate realities with that character..and a few others.

The multi-verse stems from shifts in our reality, in the different choices, decisions, and occurances. What could have happened in the 616 universe that would have shifted Gambit from Cajun thief who was created by Sinister to being Aquagambit, son of Namor and Sue with none of his said powers?

It broke the rules of the multiverse. :cmad:

That is exactly why I didn't like this New Exiles.

A better Idea for an alternate Universe Gambit would have been if he had been born into the Assassins guild instead of the thief's guild. Evil killer Gambit. Simple.
