I'm glad we can at least get both Ant Man and Wasp as part of the team from Infinity War onwards whatever muck ups have been made in the past.

My hope (pun intended, I guess) is that Hope Van Dyne is Janet in terms of her character, so we can still hypothetically get Jan in the Avengers even if the real Jan is dead.

I'm not sure Ant-Man is going to be any more comedic than Marvel's other films.

The film will be comedic but I doubt everything will be played for laughs. They are still working from Edgar's self called character driven action packed script.

Rudd has done plenty of dramatic acting along his career and the first official released picture of Scott Lang was a mood pic of him at the golden gate bridge.

I don't think major film studios spend 150 million dollars on movies summer blockbusters hoping they will be cult hits.

Evangeline Lilly's real life personality seems very close to Janet from what I have seen from her and they did give her a Janet style haircut :cwink:

I can forgive a whole lot. The idea that the MCU is a separate continuity is not lost on me. It's how I've managed to stomach the X-Men movies all these years. In fact I used to make that exact point frequently back before I gave up posting in that section.

It was the way paul Rudd said at comic-con that it isn't a full comedy and still a "marvel movie" but that it's stil Ant-man. And it seemed they know that most ppl see and read the name "Ant-man" and won't take it as serous as IMO any other superhero movie ever released. And with adam mckay coming on I still think this will be more of a comedy than any other marvel movie.

That being said I still know it will have kick a$$ action scenes and make tons of ppl love ant-man it's clear marvel thinks that to with all the new ant-man things they've annouced.

It's going to be so amazing to go to the store and see tons of ant-man toys and shirts.

If I'm correct they were looking for extras to play "ravers".

I would guess there is a scene at a rave and as huge fan of diplo and the rave culture college kids my age will love seeing that. I'm just hoping this movie is a big hit which I belive it will be.

I believe this will be one of Marvel's best, and this is coming from a big Pym fan

I feel like this will have the GotG effect. It'll be underestimated but will turn out to be a fun refreshing joyride.

Move the movie to August now opposite FFINO. Marvel will have more time to perfect the film and will crush the competition as well.

Totally on board with this after the GOOSEBUMPS move. I guess that might not stop FFINO from moving up though.

Every studio should conspire against Fox to have a movie at some week in the summer which will destroy FFINO at the box office. :p

But Ant Man could do very well here just like GOTG. Was it originally scheduled for August in the first place? I don't remember now.

I think it was. Feels like forever ago though.

Me too. Expectations are low so if the movie actually turns out to be good fun film then I think it will surprise people.

It has potential to be a great heist/superhero film, and pretty much the first of its kind.

And don't forget a "mentor/mentee" angle. That's apparently the genre Feige really wanted to explore with this. We haven't seen a "passing of the torch" movie yet, unless you count WATCHMEN.

Sure would love to see a husband and wife superhero team explored. Oh , wait...

I thought the heist elements of The Dark Knight were some of the best parts of the movie so a full on superhero heist movie would be awesome.

I'm also interested in seeing Hank Pym as not just a scientist but also a entrepreneur and super spy.

Truth is we don't know where Marvel is going with these characters. Dr Whitehall aka Kraken a WW2 era Nazi harvested a possible Inhuman on Agents of Shield which allowed his to de-age. People complain about old Pym but how do they know Pym doesn't get his hands on this de-ageing Inhuman serum at the end of Ant-Man?

after reading these last 3 pages I'm glad I'm not a comic reader and only got into the Marvel world after seeing Iron Man 1 and learning about what they were planning on doing with all these movies becoming cross overs and eventually teaming up.

It just seems that so many people that read comics find themselves disappointed frequently over some aspect or another in every comic film. Not that any of that is a bad thing, I know people want the characters they've loved and read for decades to be done the right way, or whatever their version of the right way is. But for me I just take things as they come since I have no knowledge of who or what Ant Man is supposed to be like. These movies are just like any other movie to me, if I like it then I'm content, if it sucks then oh well, any kind of comic accuracy is just bonus points I suppose. As they say, "ignorance is bliss." :D

I can't wait for the trailer(s) of this film to come out because I have no idea what to expect. I enjoy the cast they've put together, so that's a positive start, but I'm not entirely sure it's something I'll end up liking. Marvel hasn't failed me yet in their Cinematic Universe so I'm not going to lose hope now! lol

I wager the same argument for the new FF film coming out as well, I've seen nothing of it outside of the director (which I like) and the cast (which I also felt is strong) but I only constantly see hate hurled towards it. It might not end up being a faithful comic accurate Fantastic Four movie, but it might turn out to be a good film so I'm patiently awaiting a preview of that as well. I've always viewed these comic based films as just another adaptation of the characters being used, which if I'm not mistaken happens a heck of a lot in the comics, I'm sure sometimes it's not well recieved when a new writer takes over a book and other times it becomes better than everything else before it. (I'd provide examples if I had any lol). The same can be said for these comic films, MCU/Fox/Sony/DCU/whatever, in my opinion at least. Make a good movie and you've got at least one guy giving you my 10 bucks to see it. :)

The wife beating aspect of Hank Pym messed up Antman/Wasp appearing as they should. Theres no other reason to base the movie around Hank/Janet. But I need to see Giant-Man vs The Hulk on screen so hopefully we get these two in the next Avengers movie.

I don't think the wife hitting thing didn't hhad anything to do with Hank or Janet not being in the Avengers. Edgar is a big fan of Scott Lang and was pitching his Ant-Man idea around. Feige liked Edgar and his idea for a movie so he made the MCU with Edgar's ideas in mind.

Feige said
"We changed, frankly some of the MCU to accommodate this version of Ant-Man. Knowing what we wanted to do with Edgar and with Ant-Man, going years and years back, helped to dictate what we did with the roster for Avengers the first time. It was a bit of both in terms of his idea for the Ant-Man story influencing the birth of the MCU in the early films leading up to Avengers."
If it wasn't for Edgar's Ant-Man plans it would of been highly likely we would of seen Ant-Man and Wasp the Avengers.

If Marvel cared that much about people having negative feelings towards and Hank Pym or Janet being in a film because over 30 years a writer did a controversial storyline that most people have not even read then they wouldn't have in a film at all or say that he was/is married to Janet.

Marvel could of easily side stepped Janet for Maria being Hope's mother and had Janet be a contemporary character if they wanted to side step their relationship.

He just gets haircuts!

This is good news for Marvel. No need to replace Rudd for the next 10 Phases.
