Especially if "Dave" is Dave Cannon, selling out Scott and trying to run off with Hope. (who would replace Janet as the object of his obsession) They could relegate his powers to a suit designed by Pym/Cross, or they could wait and have him be an Inhuman, and get his powers later on, after he meets up with Donnie/Blizzard.

If he is Cannon, making him become Whirlwind would stuff a bit too much into the movie; we've already got Cross with his own suit serving as the big physical threat and counter to Ant-Man, plus Castillo, whatever his ultimate role may be. Also, there was some set photos of a dinner scene that suggest Cross is already trying to hit on Hope--not every villain needs to mack on her.

I'm surprised AoU has gotten a couple posters and Ant-Man has nothing yet, except some stills. Hopefully we get something before the year is out. They don't really need to build AoU, they need to focus on this.
To me it seems like they generally start up the promotion (trailer, first official poster, etc...) 6-7 months out, so I expect we'll start seeing stuff in January/February.

I'd like Marvel.to joint promote their films for the year in some way later too.

Yep

I think starting early next year Marvel will start ramping up marketing on Ant-Man.

Teaser trailer, poster, ect.

Probably see some promotional tie ins and merchandise.

January/February is a good time to release promotional stuff as those months are usually quiet.

The latest synopsis doesn't list an actress playing Janet. So either she's only mentioned in passing, or she's played by a "small-name" actress.

EVANGELINE LILLY SAYS ANT-MAN'S IN 'GOOD HANDS' WITH PEYTON REED
“He was a delight. He actually in some ways reminded me a bit of Peter [Jackson]," she told IGN when promoting the final installment in The Hobbit trilogy. "He had a fantastic sense of humour, was extremely immersed in the comic world all his life, is a big fan-boy but also extremely strong in his vision.

"He knew what he needed, and he knew if we had it or if we didn’t have it, and it’s such a huge luxury as an actor to know that your director really knows what he wants. He knows when he’s got it and he knows when to move on. I feel like we’re in really good hands."

Seems like Reed does know his comics. The Ant hill colony is straight of the classic Ant-Man 60's comics.

Details like that are most likely Wrights. He may not be directing anymore but his fingerprints will be all over the film. The only thing giving me hope that it'll be a decent film is the fact that Wright probably left behind his typically extensive storyboards, production designs, notes/general prep work and script (even if it is re-written at least they were working from a detailed, finished piece).

It's probably the production teams (set designers, artists, etc.) rather than either of them. Although Peyton Reed has come off as a huge comics nerd so I think he's more likely to be the one responsible than Wright (although, as I said, I don't think either is).

Wright is also a huge comic nerd (he sought Marvel out specifically to do Ant Man) & is notorious for the millions of tiny details and easter eggs that go into his films. Something like the above is absolutely the kind of the he does. Plus, Reed only came on a few months before filming, not enough time to significantly change things like that I don't think. He may have sneaked a few things in here & there, but the majority is going to be from Wrights time there.

While the production teams physically design & build everything it's the director (& the studio) that guides them in everything.

Oh, come on. I doubt these small details are Edgar Wright's. You are making it sound like "Ant-Man" is still Edgar Wright's film but with Peyton Reed's name attached to it. We have Wright's basic storyline (Scott Lang as our hero and the heist element) and the main cast (Rudd, Douglas, Lily and Pena) who he helped select, but this is going to be Peyton Reed's and Marvel's film in the end. Why? Adam McKay rewrote most of Wright and Joe Cornish's script, thus altering a lot of what those two guys wrote down (McKay has confirmed he changed A LOT of what was in the script). Peyton Reed is a HUGE Marvel comics fan, and has his own style in his films (Some people doubt this. Watch his films. LOTS of energy with a slick directing style) and he has added to this production. Reed knows how to work very fast because of his strong TV production work. Reed has said he interviews that changes were made to characters and the story, and Reed has also said he has added things he wanted to add. These smalls details CAN be from our director, Peyton Reed, and not from our former director, Edgar Wright.

This reminds me of when the 2014 SDCC footage trailer was showed and some fans, who loved what they saw, just assumed Edgar Wright must have made it before he walked away from the film. Peyton Reed made that trailer. That's confirmed. If it's as good as people say it was, then I'm very much looking forward to Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man", while not mistaking for the what-could-have-been Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man".

Peyton Reed for the win.

When Wright left all his crew went with him. Peyton Reed brought a whole bunch of new crew with him to work on the film. It doesn't take that long for a props department to make a fake ant hill Easter egg.

Peyton Reed and Adam McKay are huge Marvel fans. I wouldn't rule out the two of them putting plenty of minor details from the comics in the movie.

Some rumors:

http://www.starlog.com/rumor-how-will-ant-man-connect-to-captain-america-3/

Granted, this information should be taken with a boulder of salt, so until we see it unfold on the big screen, consider this to be rumor and rumor alone. However, if these rumors do hold merit, consider yourself warned for spoilers of ANT-MAN and possibly CAPTAIN AMERICA 3.

According to this anonymous party, ANT-MAN will take place alongside the events of AGE OF ULTRON, the fall-out of which will spur on the Superhuman Registration Act. While ANT-MAN is largely self-contained in nature, the references of the MCU will come from Pym’s past as a scientist for S.H.I.E.L.D. in the ’60s, having worked alongside Howard Stark, Arnim Zola and Alexander Pierce. However, in this flashback sequence, Pym will supposedly also have a run-in with a young military hot-head by the name of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who Marvel fans have last seen in THE INCREDIBLE HULK as played by William Hurt.

tihThe party goes on to say S.H.I.E.L.D.’s downfall in THE WINTER SOLDIER forced Pym into the private sector, which makes him vulnerable and essentially serves as catalyst for the events that follow in ANT-MAN. And according to the party, a shooting draft of ANT-MAN’s post-credit stinger shows the older Ross re-appearing to Pym, claiming he’d been sent by Tony Stark. When asked why, Ross allegedly responds, “Haven’t you seen the news? We’re at war.”

The party also claims Ross will play a supporting role in CAPTAIN AMERICA 3, begrudgingly helping Tony Stark enforce the Superhero Registration Act and giving him military aid as Stark’s hesitant to use his own technology post-ULTRON. The party claims that rumors of Black Widow’s limited involvement in CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 is also true, as her character will be arrested for aiding fugitive superhumans in a power play by Stark (which will give actress Scarlett Johansson a break from the MCU to focus on her family), though the source says a potential Black Widow jailbreak in a future Marvel film may help bring Scott Lang’s Ant-Man into the AVENGERS fold.

Call it what you may, but time will tell whether or not any of these rumors prove to be true, although secrets in the Marvel Cinematic Universe rarely stay that way for long. Just ask The Mandarin, Howard the Duck and Nick Fury. In any case, we’ll have a clearer image of the cold, hard truth in just a few months: THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 1st, 2015, followed by ANT-MAN on July 17, 2015.

Anonymous party = not Anonymous source, so not legit.

:o

Yeah, this is all utter lies. Pym's company is only around for, like, a year before the movie starts? And doesn't Darren Cross take it over because Pym's retiring? Plus Cross certainly sounds like he was Pym's protege a lot longer than a friggin' year.

I believe Pym is forced out hostile takeover style. I've always assumed Pym's company has been around longer than a year.

sounds interesting
the starlog piece is from october. how has no one picked it up since then?

I guess it just went under the radar. I found it a week or so back and posted it on CBM yesterday, and nobody there seemed to have noticed it either

Sounds hard to believe. Sadly I don't think Marvel are going to ask Incredible Hulk actors like William Hurt back.

I think the first Ant-Man trailer might début with a episode of Agent Carter. Peggy Carter is in Ant-Man and Marvel was going to have the first showing of The Age Of Ultron trailer début with Agent's Of Shield but it leaked.
