Its not [an after thought]. The truth is the phases mean a lot to me and some people but Civil War is the start of Phase Three. It just is. And Ant-Man is a different kind of culmination of Phase Two because it very much is in the MCU.
You meet new characters and you learn about Hank Pym and his lineage with the MCU over the years. But at the same time, it also picks up the thread of Age of Ultron in terms of heroes major heroes, Avengers coming from unexpected places. Whether its prison in the case of Scott Lang or being a very disgruntled Sokovian Twins as Wanda and Pietro are in Age of Ultron. And in that way it connects a lot.
Also, Hank Pyms attitude towards Avengers, towards S.H.I.E.L.D, and kind of the cinematic universe in general, is much more informed after the events of Age of Ultron, and in a certain way, before the events of Civil War.

But one involves a model train set in what looks like a little girl’s bedroom set, and there is a visual joke involving Thomas the Tank Engine that might be one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie

I know its a gossip site but she has proved several times that she's legit with movies news, she even got to see early screenings of CA:TWS and GotG.
Lord, this may be Marvel's most successful year to date.
Lol I think one could argue it already is, Avengers AoU just has to meet expectations and they've got 2015 on lock as their best year yet.
I'm so damn curious about this train model fight scene now and am very interested in seeing Pym's attitude/thoughts towards the MCU and especially avengers and modern day shield!
Last year with TWS and GOTG was pretty good too. Agents of SHIELD started weak, which might be a point off, but I think Marvel also saw their risks rewarded. The gamble of AoS paid off when it tied in so closely with the movies and the gamble of Guardians paid off with massive popularity by everyone.
2015 might be their best yet with Daredevil being great and these two movies, but let's see after AoU to be sure.
what I love about Ant-Man is how it turns regular spaces into epic mini landscapes. We havent seen that in a film in a long time and it sounds like itll be really exciting with how they filmed it. Think how far FX have come since stuff like The Incredible Shrinking Man or Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
I'm hoping Peyton Reed and Marvel are able to take this concept and fully explore it in imaginative, fun ways that are largely unfamiliar to modern movie goers.
