i really think this is going to be marvel's best sfx movie to date. and if they make hope into a brilliant scientist, that would add a great new female dynamic to stark + bruce. we don't have a "brilliant" main player female yet.

Yep, it may be that Hope becomes an amalgam of Hank and Jan for the MCU. This could extend to giving her the Yellowjacket suit (or a variant of it) in sequels.

I still think she will go by wasp.. but i wouldn't be shocked if she uses a modified version of the yellow jacket suit to become wasp

That seems like a pretty reasonable expectation, with them making several hints towards it in the film.

yeah if you just give her that Yellowjacket suit with no helmet (maybe give her some small breathing apparatus that's hidden) and wings instead of the legs, that would be a badass Wasp outfit

There's about a dozen people or so that I keep up with on a semi-regular basis who are all fans of the MCU. Every time I've talked to them about Ant-man, there's a mixed response. I really do think this is the biggest hurdle Marvel has ever had to face, but I'm excited just because worst case scenario, we get an inconsequential Ant-man movie. I never thought I wanted to see an Ant-man movie, but that last trailer had me convinced, so we'll see how it turns out.

I love that they put it in the Tough To Be a Bug Theater in Bugs Land. That's just perfect. :funny:

still holding out Hope that Pym and van Dyne Family family will not turn out to be evil or dark anti-hero or something:
the newest TV spot has Scott saying "saving the world... you know how that is" and immediately cutting to the father & daughter looking at him (camera).

What's the budget of this movie?

Not sure on the exact figures but Feige said it would have the budget of a Marvel Summer tentpole movie.

I would guess around $170 million which is the same budget for Phase 2 films such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World.

If they're doing a preview in 12 days then clearly the film is finished. And still no word on mid-credits scene or run-time?

When I saw the trailer with the Avengers and Gaurdians. The first thing I thought was

"That's right, use that success Marvel."

Marvel is smart. Unfortunately kids will now think Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Groot and Rocket are in Ant-Man.

They'll forget about that if the movie is actually great and entertains them

I'm really looking forward to it also. Afterwards, it's going to be awhile until CW releases (almost a year....couldn't they have done something at the end of 2015???). As far as it being the biggest hurdle Marvel has had to face, I think that one goes to GotG. People tend to forget about it because it was immensely successful. I don't expect Ant-Man to hit those numbers, but, if it's a good movie, it will do just fine.

I was just saying that if they plan on her being Wasp in future films and the Yellowjacket technology being the basis for her suit, they should hint at it in Ant-Man.

I expect to see Ant/Giant-Man and The Wasp in future films. No knowledge that they plan to do so, but I think the characters go hand in hand and would make a great addition. An Avengers team with Vision, Captain Marvel, Ant/Giant-Man, Wasp, Scarlett Witch, Quicksilver :csad:, and Black Panther would be pretty frelling awesome in my book.

:hmm Maybe if I go see Jurassic World in IMAX next week, I will be able to catch that sneak peak.

If they can sell a movie with a talking raccoon and a Tree, they can get folks to become interested in a hero that can shrink. This is one of the most classic sci-fi themes in cinema history. When you think about it, Ant-Man kinda comes out of the 50s/60s sci-fi movie landscape see: The Incredible Shrinking Man, The Amazing Colossal Man. Really cool.

I am not too sure. When I tried to explain who Antman is and that a movie is coming out, half of them thought it was dumb. On the other hand, talking raccoon was very well received by all my friends.

I really hope they appreciate Antman. He gives the director opportunity to show some really cool stuff on the big screen.

I don't think Rocket and Groot were as big a risk as people like to pat Marvel on the back for. Yes, the movie was risky, but they weren't the main characters and 80% of the movie's audience were raised on Yoda and Chewbacca.

A guy whose power is shrinking and commanding ants is way riskier.

I think when people see Ant-man's powers in action they will get it.

A lot of people don't know who Ant-Man is and there is a lack of understanding as well as scope of his powers.

If they manage to capture from the comics what he can do with the full extension of his powers in the movies then audiences will be sold.

For example its rumoured that the Thomas The Tank Engine gets enlarged and crashes through Cassie's wall in the final fight sequence. I bet most people unfamiliar with the character don't even realize Ant-Man can shrink and enlarge other objects than himself.

I'm also intrigued by the technology in this film (something they've discussed but not really shown). Much of Ant-Man's scenes where he's small won't be CGI environments and it won't be Honey I Shrunk the Kid style sets. Instead, they will use macro photography to capture the environment he shrinks down to in full size and glory. I don't think that's ever been done before in anything besides a nature documentary (and a nature documentary didn't add a superhero into the mix).
