Ant-Man The Official Ant-Man News and Speculation Thread - Part 9

great movie that we did.

I don't think that I'd call it a "great" movie. It's got too many pretty big flaws for that to me. But, "movie that is much better than it had any right to be given all of the BTS turmoil" would probably be an accurate descriptor.

That's perfectly fine. I'd call it "good but flawed," myself.

That's fair, the flaws to me were minor enough that I can overlook them.

Anyone hear Eh Maybe's rant on this films ethnic characters in collider Heroes part 2 this week? I wanted to throw up on my screen as a
Latino with what he said, especially since you can so tell dude isn't genuine, that clown always has an agenda.

was Luis and others a bit stereotypical? Yeah a bit, but they also had a lot of heart to them I felt, particularly Luis.

Luis is based on a real guy Michael Pena is friends with. Pena mentioned his friend being the basis for his portrayal throughout promotion for the movie.

If anything Pena toned his friend down for the movie.

I love the main theme for this movie.

I didn't really have an issue with any of the "Lang crew." I mean not ALL of Pena's jokes completely worked for me, but most of them did. Plus, they at least added a few touches to make them a bit less generic. If anything, I wanted to see MORE of them (every time we had a Hank/Hope "family" scene, I kept thinking "can we just cut back to Scott and co, they're so much more interesting to me")?

They deserve an an Oscar for VFX for this. Its incredible.

It really is incredible work.
Leaps and bounds from what was done with Stewart and McKellen in Last Stand

It should open with "don't worry guys, I'll actually get to be Wasp next time. No BS excuses anymore."

I found it to be pretty generic and cookie-cutter personally. Not awful, not great. A 6/10-type movie.

Too bad she still comes off as the "mean lady" I don't really want to see more of. I want Hank to find a still young Janet/Wasp in the Quantum realm but then Marvel has filled it's quota of people out of time.

Actually, that could lead to some interesting interactions with Cap. He and Janet would both be "people out of time," but in different ways who are much older than they look. Plus Janet and Steve dated for awhile in The Ultimates/Ultimates II. It could be cool to see, which is why I'm pretty sure that it'll never happen.

Anybody buy the Art Book?
I am on the fence about purchasing it.

I always buy the Art books. that said, I spent a lot of money this year for vacation, so maybe I'll wait a few months before ordering it at the local bookstore

The other art books have a lot of design elements.
But , I am curous , other than the suits , what does the AntMan art book book have to offer?

There's ONE Marvel Studios art of Movie book I wanted and it was the Thor with Sleeve and couldn't get it at Barnes & noble

Set designs for Pym Industries, the Microverse and the shrinking sequences, I guess.

I need to make the Pym Particle Sign! Thanks for reminding me RH!!

Eh Maybe. The Sarah Palin of scoopers.

Thor was best in the first film when he had the badass looking sleeves. It's a shame they didn't use it for his other appearances for whatever reason.

Black Ant is back in the new Illuminati book

Williamson said this about the character
Black Ant: The devious and honestly most vicious member of the group. Loved the original Robert Kirkman and Phil Hester series -- and just like the Hood, he's a jerk. A bad dude who still sees himself as misunderstood. He took his own death and rebirth harder than you might expect and is still dealing with it. Trying to find his place in the world. But he's still off. He came back more mean than he was before. Seriously, one of the most violent moments in the comic is a result of the Black Ant and I'm so happy Marvel let me do it.

Turns out Jordan Peele (of Key & Peele) was cast in Ant-Man by Edgar Wright. I think he might of had T.I's role.
