Who are you referring to? I'm blanking on any race changes, other than Trask was black in X3 and Sunspot isn't black in the new one coming out. But Both are background characters (if Sunspot has 5 lines I'll be surprised), just like 99% of racebent characters in all comic book movies. All the main cast of X-Men has been white just like in the comics.

Trask
Sunspot
Blink
Callisto

were the ones I was referring to. 90% of the mutants in the X-Men films could be classed as background or supporting characters.

Forgot about Callisto and don't remember Blink...unless you mean she's in the new one coming up.

Yep, that was my point. They don't care because those characters barely exist. A non-white Wolvie, Magneto or Prof. X, though...all hell would be raised.

Callisto - A White female mutant in the comicbooks. Portrayed by a Dominican American actress in the films.

Psyclocke - A White female mutant whose consciousness is transferred into the body of a Japanese woman, in the comicbooks. Portrayed by a French/Chinese/Japanese actress in the films.

Kid Omega/Quill- Kid Omega is a White male mutant in the comicbooks. Of the four versions of Quill that appear in Marvel comics, none are of Asian ancestry and one is a female. Portrayed by an Asian American actor in the films.

Lady Deathstrike - A Japanese female mutant in the comicbooks. Portrayed by a Hawaiin/Chinese American actress in the films.

What films are Psylocke and Kid Omega in? I stopped paying to see X-movies after the first Wolverine movie, but I did finally see First Class last year and I don't recall them in that. Whatever roles they've had must've been insignificant, which goes back to what I was saying.

Psylocke and Kid Omega/Quill are in X3

Blink is the new film played by fan bingbing.

People complained about wolverine being too tall so they would definitely complain about him being non-white.

With such few lead roles for black actress's in Hollywood, you'd think people wouldn't mind seeing a black Sue Storm, but it seems like some people would rather find a bunch of reasons to explain her color away, instead of the far simpler solution of just casting a black actress.
Kinda Sad really.

Meanwhile, I'm the only mofo on the planet who's questioning how an American from upstate New York speaks with an English accent. I'm, of course, referring to Professor X.

But then half of the nationalities are wrong in the X-Men movies. Pyro should've been Australian, Banshee should've been Irish, Psylocke should've been English, Moira should've been Scottish, and Magneto's accent seems to vary depending on which actor is playing him and in what mood Fassbender is in that day.

Like most comic fans, I assume every American scientist starts talking with an English accent the moment they get their Ph.D.

When I got my masters degree I spoke in the Queens english

Nah, he had that accent during early childhood. Remember that scene in First Class where little Mystique pretended to be his mom? Chuck grew up in the US with that accent.

Wasn't his mother British and his step-father American?

Perhaps he had a Christopher Nolan type Childhood where he went to boarding school in the UK and came back to the U.S when term ended.

Flicking back and forth between countries would probably explain it, though god knows how he kept Raven a secret for so many years.

...unless he made a habit of mind controlling his own parents, which sounds downright creepy.

Fixed. And I want to see that movie too. :woot:

Psh, black people don't get into Harvard. They're too busy eating up all the chicken and watermelons.

:o

Being that St. Patrick's Day is coming up, and most consider St. Patrick's Day to be a "white thing", do you (or have you ever) go out on that day or at least the weekend of it?

It's an excuse to party, but it's never been a big thing with me.

I did once, a few years ago, and it was quite the experience.

It worked for Blade three times. No one knew who the hell he was back then besides a small subset of comics fans from back in the Tomb of Dracula days in the 70s. The whole unknown thing doesn't work when you consider how D-list Blade was, and people still clamor for him. He has had a movie trilogy, his own tv series that was the highest rated on its channel, and an anime series. This all with being a character that not very many people knew about.

Also here's something to think about in regards to profit. There have been six movies featuring black superheroes as leads. I'll list them:

Steel:csad:
$16 million budget/ $1.7 million box office
Spawn
$40 million budget/$87 million worldwide box office return
Blade
$45 million budget/ $131 million worldwide box office return
Blade 2
$54 million budget/ $155 million worldwide box office
Blade: Trinity
$65 million budget/ $128 million worldwide box office
Catwoman
$100 million budget/ $82 million worldwide box office

Every single one of those movies made back twice its budget at the box office besides Blade: Trinity which only missed it by a few million, Steel which was **** on top of **** that should have never been made, and the same can be said with Catwoman. The bottom line is that people go to see black superheroes when they come out unless there is just no effort made on the creators of the movie like Steel and Catwoman. And even in the case of a really poor third outing you see a good amount of people showed up to watch Blade: Trinity because they were invested in the character at that point. Had that movie been good it would have probably continued the trend of outdoing its predecessors.

Basically people will go see something if the movie is good, and there are plenty of great black characters in all comic companies. Just look at how popular Michonne is with Walking Dead fans. No one gives a damn about her being black or a woman. They just care that she has a cool ass katana that she owns zombies with. If Marvel were to put a really good effort into Black Panther, or in the upcoming Luke Cage tv show, or even some low level guy like Night Thrasher it would sell well if it looks good enough. I think us fans over think things sometimes in regards to how much the average movie goer cares about certain things.

Who are you trying to convince? Me or a movie studio? If I had the money I would certainly invest, but I don't have the money and I'm not the one making these decisions. All of what you are saying sounds great, but that still doesn't say anything about why movie studios aren't investing in black super hero characters, or why they think it's more feasible (read financially viable) to change an established white character into a black one to achieve "diversity".

Everyone doesn't have to be Superman, or Batman, or Spider-man to sell. In fact, don't take this as a shot, but it shows how you're a big DC fan. For decades Marvel has been kicking DC's ass by offering more than 5 important characters. While Marvel rolls out the X-Men, Spidey, Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, Daredevil, etc. DC is all like, "BATMAN! SUPERMAN! YEAHHHHH!" Just look at their response to Marvel's cinematic offerings. Marvel is like, "We'll let Sony and Fox take care of some other guys, but y'all like Avengers right? Cool. Here's some, but we don't want you to only live on that. Lets get some lesser known people some love. Here's some people in space, and some Netflix shows for you to watch. Oh yeah, there will be Ant-man, and a bunch of other stuff coming in multiple phases." What was DC's response. "How about we bring back Batman, and put him and Superman together! Yeahhhhhhhhhhh boiiiiiiiiiii!"

It's okay to step out of your DC shell now. All the other comic companies have cookies and milk. Like Anubis said. We'll get you some day.:o

All of what you said sounds great, and I have no problem watching Marvel's movies or TV shows. I just don't want to invest in reading Marvel comics. I'm not invested in Marvel characters because they weren't the characters I learned to love as a child. At this point...that ship has sailed. I don't care about Marvel. My indulgences is for DC only. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the MCU or Agents of Shield or anything else... I just don't read Marvel comics and I will never read Marvel comics.

I have two questions:

1) When I take my own hot sauce into a diner because they either don't have any or they have the wrong type, am I being real, ghetto, country boy or all of the above?

2) When I forget to take my own hot sauce into a diner, and then I ask to borrow some from someone else who brought hot sauce into the diner, am I being real, ghetto, country boy or all of the above?

I think I know the answer, but I am not about to miss a chance to learn.

Country.

Ghetto would be using said hot sauce for foot play.
What he said...

no, not really. i see a few problems.

1. i have no problem with the current lineup of Fantastic Four and i wouldn't have been opposed (at all) of there being a black Sue.

2. you're kidding yourself if you really think that it'd be a "simpler" solution to make her black.

3. her race doesn't need explanation. neither does Johnny's.

they make one of the leads a black male. and your response is to criticize the lack of diversity? i don't get it.

I liked First Class enough, but that **** with Darwin was moronic. How in the **** does a guy whose power is to evolve to survive be the first mother****er to die? Was Vaughn trying to be ironic or something?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who picked up on that.

Anyone ever been in a situation where you weren't the only black person, but you were the only black person who wasn't ghetto?
