Whenever I'm about to say something controversial, I also begin with, "and by the way, I mean this in the most offensive way possible ..." just so there's no awkwardness.

If it is the truth, then no one can fault you for that disclaimer. However, whatever follows...hopefully the recipient of your words is not bellicose lol

no, not really. i see a few problems.

1. i have no problem with the current lineup of Fantastic Four and i wouldn't have been opposed (at all) of there being a black Sue.

2. you're kidding yourself if you really think that it'd be a "simpler" solution to make her black.

3. her race doesn't need explanation. neither does Johnny's.

they make one of the leads a black male. and your response is to criticize the lack of diversity? i don't get it.

I wouldn't expect you to get it because your not black. It kinda goes back to the whole point of this thread "Ask A Brotha". Don't take that the wrong way. I'm sure there's things that you understand that other race groups wouldn't get either.

The point I'm trying to make is there's certain things that we pick on that non-blacks will never understand. If you think they can throw in one token black guy into a movie to keep black audience's happy, really shows me that you will never "get it".

Anyone ever been in a situation where you weren't the only black person, but you were the only black person who wasn't ghetto?

lol yea I find myself doing this some times haha.

Kinda reminds me of Carson Daly and how he'd change the way he talked around certain people when they came to TRL. :woot:

Key & Peele...the heir apparent to the Chappelle Show. Now I want to go watch racist zombies hahaha.

The heir to Chappelle Show was Mind of Mencia. I'm not saying it was anywhere remotely near approaching the ballpark in quality, but it showed up as soon as Chappelle Show ended and had the exact same format.

I have zero respect for Carlos Mencia, and consequently see your juxtaposition as being affront to all of the hard work of David Chappelle as well as Key and Peele. Mencia is a known joke thief. And it is one thing to retell known jokes while making the concession about that fact. Unfortunately, Mencia has been a *****e and thought it better to not give credit where credit is due, which is why he got his face smashed in by George Lopez, a comedian I do admire.

Damn, I thought Joe Rogan would've gotten to Mencia first.

Like I said, I'm not saying Mencia's show was good. I'm just saying that it was clearly made to replace Chappelle's.

You know, I figured Joe Rogan would have been the first in line to fade Mencia, given that Rogan was one of the most vocal members of the anti-Mencia community. However, I am not entirely surprised that George Lopez was the first, because George Lopez is older. I would not expect a man such as George Lopez to play nice and just rant.

I usually end my controversial thoughts by saying, "F*** yo thoughts! I'm god, and b**** you not!"

You'd be surprised how well people respond to that. It makes peace very well with your average human.

I didn't know Lopez had problems with Mencia.

Oh yeah. It goes back a while ago. Nearly a decade ago, back in 2005 I believe. There were several well known comedians, including George Lopez, Joe Rogan and Ari ("The Amazing Racist") that went public with their concerns. Mencia was lifting material from dozens of comedians, including legends such as Bill Cosby. After some rather public feuds over Mencia's behavior, one of his detractors, George Lopez, grew tired of the shenanigans. Lopez encountered Mencia by chance while out on a walk. And right then and there, *POW*, Mencia caught fade. George Lopez doesn't play that mess.

Why would you photoshop a glass of juice in your hand? You know you ain't had none of that before.:o

i was pouring the juice for my nephew. we were at Disney's animal kingdom. they snapped a picture of me for some reason. pretty much the only one that i like; so i kept it. :woot:

I've always liked Carlos Mencia. He might have stolen jokes, but he always made me laugh.

My knowledge of Mencia is just limited to seeing comments here and there about how he sucks and stole jokes from people. I wasn't a fan of his, especially since it felt like he had to yell the joke to make it funnier or something.

I actually don't remember any of Mencia's jokes other than that catch phrase that makes fun of the mentally handicapped, because apparently Carlos Mencia is still in the third grade.

--EDIT--
Oh, and he used to do that condescending thing (that NO comedian is supposed to do) where he explains a joke and mocks his audience's intelligence for not laughing.

I never liked Carlos Mencia or his show. I remember when that video of Joe Rogan and Ari calling Mencia out hit the internet, it just made me despise Mencia even more. I never knew that George Lopez clocked him, but I'm not surprised. You don't steal jokes from other comedians.

Yeah, Mencia always had to be hyper to get his joke over. Dane Cook was the same way.

Carlos Mencia makes Dane Cook look like the next George Carlin.

That's how lame Mencia is.

It'd be like "Why did the chicken cross the road? TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!"

I actually missed out on the Dane Cook experience. I just never bothered to watch anything with him in it.

I thought Dane Cook was alright, but like 80% of his routine relied on you actually seeing him physically flail himself around the stage. Not a terrible comedian, but he didn't deserve the level of fame he got.
