It's not thrown around as much these days, and especially post Jim Lee's every mutant chick has the body of a pornstar era of the 1990's, but Sue was called the most beautiful woman in the Marvel U for many a year. An absurd statement when you think about it for a minute? Yeah. Still, it's what creators and others have said.

Seeing as how Sue has often been called the most beautiful woman in the Marvel U, I think it would have been quite the statement to have an African-American Sue. Kerry Washington would have be a good choice if not for being in the Story FF's and that this Trank film seems to be a radical departure while also pulling from UFF.

Didn't Kerry play Alicia from the Tim Story FF movies?
Someone suggested the girl from the vampire diaries Kat Graham. I thought that was a good choice. Pretty girl and not too big a name to out shine the character.

they make one of the leads a black male. and your response is to criticize the lack of diversity? i don't get it.

I should just be happy that they have one token black for some forced diversity? Really? Are we back in the 80's now? It was a sentence away from becoming "you people will never be happy" :P

And if you read my other post's, my problem isn't even with skin color. It was with the adoption idea. I would have preferred them to be genetic siblings. They could be both white, black, Chinese or whatever.
I believe it was a decision made to avoid casting a black actress, for whatever racist, political or other reason the studio's have.

If Fox want to change things so much they should just create there own superhero team. They could just adapt the bionic six into there own franchise. Can't get more diverse than this.

I wanna know where the hell people are getting the idea that the new Fan4 movie is going to be based off of the Ultimate versions. And don't say the ages of the actors, because they're all in their late 20's and early 30's, which was the ages of the Fan4 when they got their powers in the comics (except for Johnny, who was like 15).

Plus I read somewhere they supposedly aren't getting their powers from a space trip this time, leading some to think it will be from the interdimensional experiment thing like Ultimate FF (while others speculate they will be mutants, since Fox is supposedly doing a shared universe with the X-movies this time around).

Sue was in her 20's, and I always assumed Ben & Reed were like 30 when they all took that trip into space. Ben & Reed are like 40 now, but it's been 10-15 years since that day.

No, they were old as hell...relatively speaking...when they went into space. Reed already had the grey sideburns when they went into space. early 40's definitely. Technically, they were around the same age as Professor X seeing as they all fought in Korea.

Sue was only a child, not even a teenager, when she first met Reed, who was a graduate student already. Hey, it was the 1950s, that wasn't considered creepy back then.

Yes she did. That was back when her career was still burgeoning. Prior to that, her other major film roles were as the sister of the deuteragonist in the film "Save the Last Dance" (2000) and as Della Bea Robinson in "Ray" (2004). After that she did the Fantastic Four (2005) and she started getting more role opportunities, e.g. "The Last King of Scotland" (2006).

The Korean War was only 10 years before they formed the Fantastic Four (also, 10 years before Charles opened his school). They would've been around 30. And I know people who started going gray in their 20's.

that's sounds kind of paranoid. but it's right in line with thinking that Michael B Jordan's a token. what reason would they have to avoid a black actress? controversy? they've already gotten that by casting a black person to play Johnny Storm. maybe they are more interested in the mixed family angle.
