I'm not here to say anything about the validity of her feeling nor did I say anything about her feeling. I was talking about her whole entire argument is invalid. It rears of racism, jealousy, and bitterness.

Yes she has 2 divorces but IMO black, white or other any woman twice divorced will have a certain degree of bitterness. She just vocalized hers. I'm just saying that her rant while it may seem racially biased is not at the core. At the same time nothing she said was untrue as far as the images and racial prejudice of the time period relating to those of color.

Most people who experience multiple breakups usually become bitter towards a gender not a demographic.

While racism is still prevalent in our society, what she is specifically talking about occurred 180 years ago. And whether it was glamorized in movies, tv, etc., or she had experiences in school where the white girls were popular and she was made to feel like a second class citizen, it wasn't stated in her article. My point she has no idea what it was like.

That being said, she DID state how she grew up in a house hold where she was taught to base things on deeds and not color. She further goes on that we find love in a variety of places.

However, she can't have it both ways, she can't say, I was taught to base things on deeds and then begrudge black men for their life choices.

She also in another article discussed whether it was fine to be in an open relationship and caught the furor from Chilli from TLC.

So I pretty much don't lend much credence to what Jill Scott has to say.

1: a distinctive doctrine, cause, or theory
2: an oppressive and especially discriminatory attitude or belief

At no time did African Americans hold any power over any race in this country so racism is impossible. I'd say she was prejudicial in her accusations of said "friend" and the reason for dating a caucasian woman.

We still hold archaic thoughts from a past that we can't fully shake out of our psyche to this day. I have a daughter and they still discriminate within themselves over light and dark skin, Good and Bad hair and whether they speak in a ghetto dialect or proper... Why is that?? Because the lack of Black Fathers which also has a lot to do with the shrinking of the the Black men in society which, and I digress, the shortages of marriageable Black men .. Involuntary servitude through imprisonment because of their actions and absence to decent Legal resources..

Look around?? Go to the South side of Chicago, Watts, North Philly, and I can go on..

Racism is at it's roots is racial prejudice. What you were talking about is not racism in general, but institutional racism.
