One of my favorite sound effects in Batman '89 is the eerie screech of the elevator up to Grissom's office. Brilliant, especially when it coincides with our first look at the JOKER playing card.

Heh, I also like the almost comical gun shots.

I love the production design in B89. Their Gotham City looked *****ingly awesome. BR too.

I don't think I've seen this in over a year. Tonight might be time to change that

I just love this painting by Christoper Franchi.

If the Nolan trilogy was "dark grime", B89 was "dark glamour". This painting captures it so well: the light, textures and colours contrast so richly, giving it the same frisson of excitement.

Watched this the other night. Best Batman Movie.

I'll slap any Nolanite who says different :o

"Dark glamour" is a clever way to describe it.

Returns wasn't better. It was too quirky. This movie felt like a Batman comic book of the period. Returns was a weird amalgam of all of Burton's previous movies, with Batman in it. Good movie, but not as "classic" if you will as this one!

The principle shot in the movie during that scene is of Batman high above the onlooking policemen, on a catwalk with smoke billowing around him, and with a gangster hanging from his throat before him.

"Ugh, ugh!!! LET ME DOWN! Ugh, LET ME DOWN!!!"

I love that moment. Say what you will.
