I think they did a great job.
Yea but you said the Mezco was too pricey. Unless you're preordering from the asian spots and paying in full up front (states don't make you do) ... you do realize BBTS carries this tomorrow for pre-order where you only have to just preorder and not pay until it's in stock. But it's going to cost around $110 being an exclusive. So in essence, that was the initial cost of Mezco when it was an exclusive ... before they released to other selling sites and charged an extra $40 to bring the total to $150, right?
It looks fantastic. But that face printing technology, while good, this doesn't look near as good as the Mezco One 12. And the Mezco comes with way more extras. Plus the addition of an entire new head sculpt with the bleeding battle damaged finale look from the Cathedral. I'm buying an extra figure just to have that look.
I'll get 2-3 of this SHF. But I'm not blown away like I was with the American made Mezco version. Still looks very good though, and I'm a sucker for Keaton Bat, 89, Returns product. Especially when so strikingly accurate.
Mezco is top of the line 6 inch figures, and they're basically giving you two different versions of the figure with the battle damaged head sculpt.
Both these companies knew they could gouge on pricing because they're selling a now niche version of the character that almost exclusively appeals out of nostalgia to people well over 30 years old.
The toys I wish I had as a kid are common place now with likeness and screen accurate detail. The NECA one was amazing. As are the 1990 TMNT NECA movie figures, which we never even got as 80s / 90s kids cause that film was too Mirage-esque and "violent".
Anyway:
