The Official Batman and The Outsiders thread

Yeah, Guy would be good with the Outsiders. He's off being a "fixer" for the whole universe right now, though, which I much prefer to see. Give Earth a good name out in the universe at large to counter all the damage Hal did to Earthlings' reputation.

If Batman can be in the Justice League, the Outsiders, have two main ongoings and have a continual presence in other Bat-books like Catwoman, Nightwing, and Robin along with his cameos in other books. I don't see why Guy can't do both :o

Guy isn't exactly stealthy for the Outsiders. He'd charge into everything and break it before they could get anything done.

That's not the point of the Outsiders. The point of the Outsiders now is basically to serve as the new Elite, to do the Justice League's dirty work. The work that the Justice League can't do because it would severely damage their reputation.

There are stealth aspects of it, hence why we have Batgirl, Green Arrow, Katana, and Metamorpho. But characters like Geo-Force, Thunder, and Grace, they aren't exactly stealthy. Guy would be more on par with them and Guy is certainly a character that would be perfect to do the Justice League's dirty work, the greyer shades of heroism that the Outsiders are required to do.

Except for the fact that he balked at the Corpse, a subset of the GL Corps with that exact same purpose. Granted, the fact that Batman's leading the Outsiders probably means they wouldn't get as dirty as the Corpse (unless Dixon completely takes leave of his senses). I could see him working on the Outsiders.

I finally read #3. What the **** was up with Cassandra? My faith in Dixon is wavering. :o

Maybe she has her old personality back and she only speaks a few words. NEW EARTH! SUPERBOY PUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know squat about her; aside from a lot of you complaining about her mischaracterization lately. Is being a nudist of few words not the norm for her?

Few words, yes. Nudist, not so much. She would've just been wearing her costume still if she didn't have any other clothes. :o

I suppose it would make sense for her to have scars, given that she's been a fighter her entire life and I doubt David Cain took it easy during her training. I don't think it's ever really been addressed before though, since she doesn't walk around naked very often. Unless Chuck Dixon is writing her, apparently.

She's usually much better than this. I kind of wish they'd just kill her off to stop the torture. :(

I don't recall Cassandra's disregard for modesty in her own series.

This just fanservice or ulterior motive?

Maybe Cassandra's darker and more X-treeeeeeme because she was just evil for no good reason. Or maybe Dixon just doesn't know the character that well since she evolved throughout her comic series.

Well, according to Ostrander and Johns, Cassandra went to Deathstroke out of a desire for a father figure (since Bruce and co. went on his world tour) and out of hurt that Bruce chose Harvey to protect Gotham City over her. And then she was drugged up on Slade's serum.

Or maybe Dixon just doesn't know the character that well since she evolved throughout her comic series.

This, most likely.

Yeah, all of that nonsense from Ostrander and Johns is ridiculous and shows that they don't know jack from **** about Cassandra's character. The whole point of her series' final arc was that she moved past all that father figure bull**** and was her own ****ing goddamn woman, but no one gives a **** about silly **** like a character's own goddamn mother****ing series or the fantastic developments it heaps upon her to make her a stronger character. All they want is random goddamn assassin ***** #5,032. :o

I've heard the Cassandra did have a few moments in the past where she had basically no regard for modesty. Walking around naked in front of two people who she has to know are lesbians is definitely pushing it, but on the "Let's see how much more they can fck her up today?" scale this would be maybe a three or a four out of ten.

Oh, I know, it's nowhere near as major as, y'know, betraying everything about her character and having her seek out one of her worst enemies to cuddle, but it's still annoying.

Indeed.

But I really like to see how Bruce interacts with her.

Dixon is writing a Detective Comics issue dealing with the OYL reunion between them.
