Batman Returns The Official Batman Returns Thread - Part 4

It's not my reason, but I think he did want to find out who they were. The scene really plays it up as a genuine moment and he even lays roses on their graves like Bruce did for his parents. Even psychos are sentimenal and someone as stunted as the Penguin would logically long for closure.

From the negative feedback the show gets from fans. Same way as I know the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon has not improved even though I only watched the first few episodes of that and couldn't stomach any more. The negative feedback and reviews.

Why is this more accurate? Are these reasons you've actually seen people say, or is this just a speculative opinion? For example The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon came in the same era as The Batman cartoon, and is widely considered to be the best Spider-Man cartoon, and a stiff competitor to BTAS for best superhero based cartoon. That only lasted 2 seasons, and didn't get a bunch of technical Emmy noms. So I don't buy that era reasoning. If a show is good it will be liked. Doesn't matter when it comes out, or what continuity it follows. Making it more juvenile and kiddie can certainly hurt the quality of it.

The Emmys it won were technical ones for sound editing and mixing. Compare that to BTAS (yeah I know that's funny considering the nature of this debate but it's strictly for analogy purposes), which won emmys for things like outstanding animated program, and outstanding writing in an animated program, which I think is much more impressive and speaks more about the quality of the show than ones for sound editing. I mean the crappiest of shows, and movies, too, can win tech awards like that.

Some of the poorest shows on TV have lasted for 5 seasons and more. And as for getting a spin off comic book, they make comic books out of just about anything nowadays. Especially if it's based on a popular superhero. It's called milking the brand. It will sell because it's Batman.

Okay, you've sold me. It's a bad show and the fans don't like it. Well done!

*Note: Several of its seasons were nominated for Outstanding Animated Program, and it won once -- just for clarification.

Yeah but he was doing all that in front of a crowd of citizens and press and paparazzi. Had he been alone and out of the public eye when he did that, then I'd believe it was genuine. But it looked like he was just playing up the poor orphan freak angle to the cameras again. Like when he staged the phony saving the baby scenario. He was just pretending to be something he's not.

Can't you just be polite and say agree to disagree, or even better just ignore the post if you're incapable of mature response.

No, it won outstanding special class animated program(what ever special class means), along side cartoons like this;

You're so immature sometimes, Shape. You can't just be polite and say agree to disagree, or even better just ignore the post if you're incapable of mature response.

"Agree to disagree" is most commonly used as a less abrasive substitute for something along the lines of, "This discussion bores me. I still think I'm right."

I thought what I said was nicer and more complimentary. :cwink:

Each of which are widely considered to be among the world's most celebrated animated programs, particularly Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island.

Maybe that's the meaning behind it when you use it, but don't brand everyone for having the same meaning when they use it.

I certainly don't. And even then saying you're bored of the discussion and bowing out of it while still believing you're right is not rude or abrasive.

It wasn't. But since you're using a wink smiley I'm going to assume you're being friendly about this.

"The show has received mixed reviews. Some have praised the animation and creativity, but has been criticized for its often physical humor. Joly Herman of Common Sense Media posted a review of Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island on Go.com. The review describes the show as "the TV equivalent of sugary cereal, and nothing more", and proceeded to give the show two stars out of five.[2]

Rob Paulsen, who voiced the main character Coconut Fred, even stated that he regretted doing the show, and said that it was nothing more than a shameless SpongeBob SquarePants knockoff."

"CommonSenseMedia gave the show a rating of 3 stars out of 5. It wrote "The character of Tut is amusing, with his combination of childishness and egotism, and his interaction with Cleo and Luxor can be quite funny. The resolutions of the stories are fairly predictable -- Tut uses his powers for good to help his friends, and harmony is restored -- but the situation is unusual enough to keep the show fresh."[3] DVD Verdict said "To be fair, as a product of the Discovery Channel, the producers have tried something slightly different with Tutenstein. It's educational children's programming, the attempt of an educational station to compete with more popular stations. Each episode incorporates some educational tidbits: explaining aspects of ancient Egyptian mythology and history. Unfortunately, the learning gets a bit mixed up with all the other nonsense."[4] The Sydney Morning Herald wrote "It's The Mummy for kids...There's no Brendan Fraser or Rachel Weisz here, but the humorous dialogue - and the inclusion of a talking cat - should be a winner among younger viewers."

I'm not seeing any consensus here that these shows are even seen as contenders as one of the world's most celebrated animated programs. Personally I'd never even heard of them. I only saw them because they were part of this "special class" category, and so I checked them out. The Save-ums has nothing at all about the response it got.

What does this smiley make you assume about me? :Ice:

Dude...I was kidding.

I ink oswald already knew who his parents were though, which is why i think it plays a part on his belief that he deserves better.

The Batman is a perfectly fine batman show on its own, the problem is people kept comparing it to BTAS and that's where you see the divide.

Yes, thank you. Cause now that I grew up (after the show ended) I want to go back and watch it, give it another try. They had some neat stuff, Firefly was in it (I love Firefly), Mr. Freeze was voiced by Clancy Brown and showed up in TDKR style episode with an old Batman, Dick is Nightwing & Babs is Oracle. I still love the ep. where Joker becomes Batman and takes on petty crime, even goes after Mayor Adam West's (yes he is the mayor I **** you not) wife because she "had it coming" for taking 21 items to a 20 item checkout lane. Then later in the series they brought in Black Mask and the JL and what not.

the batjoker episode is brilliant. There is also the time travelling dude who is great. Really, the batman deserves to be watched.

This movie seems to get alot of hate on the internet, but I'd still rate it as one of my favorite Comic Book movies. Keaton, Pfeiffer and DeVito were all great.

Best Catwoman thus far =/= Only Catwoman

Yeah, MP was brilliant, and nobody has matched her as Catwoman yet. We may get another great movie Catwoman one-day, though.

And hopefully with some real fighting ability.
