I agree with the judges on GGG during worse down the stretch when he was suddenly trying to press. He was winning the fight early with his jab imo. He wasn't getting hit and Jacbos wasn't doing much.

Boxing is so rigged! Who the freak are 9 and 10? Mostly HBO fighters. If people can't see that the cold war is real and Al Haymon/PBC fighters are left out, then you don't want to see it. Thurman should be in the top 10. Better resume, especially recently.

I was on vacation with family last week and had to watch GGG-Jacobs through less honorable sources. I didn’t bother scoring, so my opinions on this fight are suspect.

On the stream I felt Jacobs edged the win just based on my own mental scorecard. Watching it again, in HD, I think Golovkin’s work was cleaner for the majority of the fight. I don’t score fights after the fact, because it’ll always be influenced by outside opinion, but I can see how you could score this fight for either fighter.

That being said, all respect in the world to Daniel Jacobs. Even though I think GGG was technically superior, Jacobs looked much better prepared tactically and strategically. He also took some very good punches during the fight and not only survived them but answered them.
I feel that the closeness of this fight is more attributable to Jacobs than any decline in GGG. I think Golovkin looked sharper in this fight than in his last two appearances, but Jacobs stayed disciplined and defensively responsible throughout the entire fight.

Also, the Chocolatito fight was very exciting but I disagree with the decision. A bad way to lose an undefeated record, but Gonzalez doesn't seem like the type to let it effect him too much. If anything I think the division will be what gets him; It's hard to pressure the way he does without having the power to put someone away.

The vast majority of boxing fans are idiots. They are super tribal and it influences all the crap they say.

Hey mate, why would you say so, its very subjective, all depends about each of us! I know a friend who is working in a pharmacy and he's an absolute fan of box.

A question I have is.....why would a brand new poster come to a superhero/comics website and dig up a year old post in a boxing thread to comment on?

Ward & Kovalev II. I think this is going to be much easier work for Andre, assuming he doesn't get caught with anything.

I do as well. I think it was nerves at first and once he settled down, he took it over. I think Kovalev will try and go in for the kill early. I don't know why but Kovalev held more than normal(more than Ward! :wow:)in their first fight.

Personally, I think the rematch is going to be very similar to the first fight. I think Kovalev is going to be fast and sharp early, and as the fight wears on Ward will start to take over again.

That's easier said than done when you're fighting someone who is a better outside fighter than you. When Sergey is fresh, he outboxes you on the outside; In later rounds, as he fades, he gets tentative and sloppy.

I think Kovalev was trying to make a statement that he wouldn't let Ward push him around on the inside. Ironically it just wore him out and Andre ended up beating him on the inside anyway. :funny:

Ward is not a fighter that you can show vulnerability against; he knows how to capitalize. Usually, the power puncher is the fighter that can afford to make mistakes, but we saw in the first fight that Andre was the one that was able to overcome setbacks. If Kovalev wants to win the rematch he will need to be completely locked in.

Both HBO and Showtime have agreed to show Joshua vs Klitschko. It shows what this fight means to boxing if rivals agree to collaborate.

Only ever been done for Tyson vs Lewis and Pacquiao vs Mayweather.

I was just about to ask in here how much interest there is in the Joshua Klitshcko fight as it's not far away at all now. I don't see it get talked about much (or heavyweight boxing in general) in this thread. Klitschko is past his best but this is probably the most exciting fight at that weight for a while.

I'm interested in the fight. The up and coming champ against the fading champ is a boxing staple.

Hasim Rahman Jr turned pro. Physically, he looks like his dad.

Joshua vs Klitschko this weekend. I don't see Klitschko winning this. His time has passed. Though he may have a better than vs Fury (because Johnson is more stationary), he's not winning this.

late KO or 12 wide UD win for Johnson

Agree 100000%! Plus he won't have the reach he tends to have over other fighters. I can't forget the time he fought Poventkins or however you spell it and he literally threw one punch, held and through another punch.

I'm really looking forward to it and agree on the above predictions.

Wilder vs Johnson needs to be next. And that winner needs to fight King Kong Ortiz to really settle who's the top dog of the division.

IDK what the hell is going on with Tyson Fury. If he hasn't already, he needs to be stripped of his title.

I think he had mental health issues. He was stripped of the title I believe. Should just be Joshua, Wilder & Parker as current heavyweight champs.

I think he has been stripped of this title. I'm not sold on King Kong Ortiz deserving a shot. Dude has been caught cheating a couple of times. He's a great boxer........skillwise, probably the best heavyweight right now. But that darn PED history just doesn't look good to me.

Tyson Fury claimed mental illness for why he failed some drug test I believe. He was stripped of the belts a long time ago now. Pretty sure they are fighting for one of those belts this weekend.

The big 3 (current champs) all need to fight each other asap.

Ortiz should fight Povetkin for the steroid heavyweight championship of the world.

I think Joshua is going to win and it's going to look easy. Wlad hasn't looked good since the Pulev fight and even that was after a stretch of ugly performances. Unless AJ's career has just been a mirage, I can't see him losing.

Wembley undercard has started guy's. As for the main even I'm going for an AJ win in 9.

Main event time!

Klitschko down in the 5th.
