Just be honest man.

GGG v Ward back then would be a BAD deal for G. Big head bastah would go to sleep.

All that means issh now tho. Fight is signed. Don't dwell on it. And Ward did say he would come down and meet G at any weight class back then. He even showed paper work of an offer he gave to G's team.
Ward says a lot of things. But considering he drained Chad Dawson, don't know.

I am excited for GGG/Canelo, I just don't know if I believe it is going to happen. Something stupid is going to happen, I know it.

I'm going by G's team words tho.

So his ass would go up to 168 for them, but not for Ward.

I can't hate on G tho.

He wants the biggest payday of his career. Good for him.

Who at 168? Jr? I am confused.

Either way, yeah GGG has wanted Canelo for awhile. He is a legit money fight like few others in boxing right now. Ward is too good and not worth nearly the same money.

His team spoke about going up to fight the likes of Chavez Jr at that weight. And Ward is not worth the risk. :oldrazz:

But that fight will never happen now. I doubt Ward can make 168 now.

I think it is pretty clear now that Ward would kick his ass, so I don't really need to see it.

And yep, he'd fight Chavez there. Tonight was a good example of why.

Hard to live up to his pops name, but that name helped him get paid. I can't feel bad for the guy.

Every time I feel a bit bad for him, a night like tonight happens. He just got paid a lot of money to stand there like Homer Simpson.

Why do you think Oscar okayed the fight now and after the Jacobs fight? A year or two ago and Triple G decapitates ginger.

The risk/reward has gone down.

Canelo has dramatically improved. Man, I didn't realize he was so quick. Really nice jab and follows it well. That makes things very difficult for your opponent. EDIT: I don't think Mayweather would want any part of Alvarez now. I'm not saying Floyd would necessarily lose, but it wouldn't be like it was the first time around.

When I boxed, I was so much taller than my opponents and my manager focused on my jab. That and a strong right cross can be a punishing combination. If you can just beat your opponent with the jab, it sets up everything.

As far as the poll goes, I'd have to go with Ali. There's a guy who, by the end of his career, I think may be on that list (and very possibly high up on the list). His name is Vasyl Lomachenko and he looks to me to be about the best boxer I've ever seen. This guy comes at you from so many angles with so many different punches that getting a read on him seems almost impossible. There just don't seem to be any patterns. It's like going up against a pitcher that throws 6 different pitches for strikes; there's no way to tell what's coming next. Keep an eye on this guy. He's only had a few fights, but, man, is he ever exceptional.

Canelo is always fast against those that aren't throwing back.

That is a true statement. Everyone is "quicker", but still, his hand speed looks like it has improved to me.

EDIT: BTW, for those of you who voted for Marciano over Ali, yes, Ali weighed more, but not that much more early in his career, than did Marciano, but Ali would have absolutely "destroyed" him.....if you don't believe me, watch tape of his fight with Joe Walcott. Rocky would have had a hard time hitting Ali with a net or a bucket of water.

I'm calling it now but Golovkin will KTFO Canelo.

I would gladly take that bet. I think it will go 12. Not sure who would win, though I'm starting to lean more towards Canelo than I ever have, I don't see it ending in a knock out.

I'm going to go with Canelo by decision. Though I'd enjoy seeing him get knocked out.

I really don't want it to go to decision. Canelo has won a few too many shady decision for my liking. So I'd much rather have a definitive winner.

I am not a Canelo fan and really hate how he is being pampered. But if it goes 12, no way does he lose a decision. We saw how one judge gave him the fight after Floyd completely schooled him. I do think that GGG has been a protected fighter as well by HBO but he does have some talent but ODH is not trying to let his cash cow lose any time soon. Canelo does have some boxing talent and fast hands but slow feet. Again, Canelo by decision.

I've seen Canelo make leaps and bounds in terms of technique. I doubt GGG comes out as sloppy as he's looked recently but even on his best days, he can be touched. He's definitely not hard to find, so it comes down to how well Canelo can handle his power. If GGG doesn't stop him early, I think Canelo has a chance to stop him late...

Agreed! I've always said GGG sucks on D. He gets hit way to much and Canelo really does have fast hands. At first, I thought GGG would beat Canelo but I'm leaning more and more towards Canelo.

Yeah, skill-wise, I think there's a decent chasm there now. Canelo's been in there with better competition and displayed incremental improvements the past 3 years or so. If he can withstand some fire, I like his chances...

Rumour going around is Oscar and GBP put in a clause that if Canelo loses there's a rematch clause but if Golovkin were to lose there isn't. I sense some shady business going on fight night. :funny:

I wouldn't be surprised if GBP screwed them over on the negotiations table and took that 15 million flat fee away and lowered it. Serves them right.

The WBC also, Canelo said he's not going to be fighting for that belt. All that BS they did, the 15 day mandate, giving the belt to GGG, not giving him more time to negotiate. They're going to lose out on the biggest fight this year.
