For those that care, the Frampton vs Gutierrez bout has been cancelled. After the weigh in, in which Frampton missed weight by 1lb, Gutierrez had an accident in which he slipped in the shower & busted himself up pretty badly. Massive gash on his chin, cut on his nose & lost a few teeth as well.

Broner/Garcia tonight. Garcia is a pure boxer, one of the most technical I've seen in a minute...............but some kind of way I think Broner is going to win. I like them both..Garcia way more than Broner but I think that once Broner becomes focused, I think he has natural talent.

I think Garcia wins at Lightweight. This is at 140lbs (Light Welter). So that added weight not sure of Mikey yet until we see him there.

The size is a legit factor. But I still think Garcia can pull it off, as he is a much better boxer.

Never been so happy to be wrong. Broner, even between rounds, telling his corner "I got this".........deserved this loss. He needed a real corner instead of a corner of yes men. A tale of two fighters. One with laser focus and one who focused more on partying and a persona. Well deserved win!

Broner got embarrassed. Should have known when Docker picked him. :hehe:

He has never been as good as he has been promoted. He has struggled against every decent fighter he has gone against, and has been embarrassed three different times in the ring. This time against a much smaller guy.

It's almost as if he's hesitant to let his hands go against better competition. Laying on the ropes with your guard up and shaking your head isn't going to win you any fights unless you're Muhammad Ali with a plan.

Broner is quite obviously not in that stratosphere. He was getting picked apart and returned no fire. This needs to be it for him...

I had it 10-2, the scores were too close. I don't know where Broner goes from here, he's almost 30, lost all his big fights, struggled and got some gift decisions against decent opponents, his foot work has always been sloppy and defence has been abysmal. Needs new trainers, maybe he could salvage his boxing career or he needs to find a new line of work. And even after he got a one sided ads beating, he still doesn't know how to be humble.

I'd like to see Garcia vs Lomachenko next, but I don't think Arum would want to deal with Garcia.

Nigerian Olympic Heavyweight Efe Ajagba turns pro tonight. He has some people behind him like Shelley Finkel and Ronnie Shields. Whenever I hear about Nigerian heavyweight prospects I always think of Ike Ibeabucci and Sam Peter. Especially Ibeabucci.

Ike could've been REALLY good if he could've solved his personal demons. He was coming up in the late 90's could've bridged the gap from Lewis/Holyfield/Tyson era to the Klitchko's.

There are some potentially really interesting match ups in the "around" lightweight division. What else is new?

Yeah. I was a big believer in him. He was strong and durable. The first guy to beat Tua and knocked out Chris Byrd. In the Tua fight, they set the CompuBox record for punches thrown in a heavyweight fight. Outside the ring, Ike was a mental disaster.

I saw a comment about Adrian Broner on social media that pretty much sums up my thoughts on him - 'Adrien Broner is the most talented disappointing boxer I've ever seen.'

Easily defeated by Mikey Garcia, who I was unfamiliar with until the fight, looks like a very talented sharp puncher.

Broner doesn't have that much talent. He just built his style around Floyd's so people thought he was better then he was. But his defense has always been awful, and he is afraid to throw a lot of the time.

Nah he has natural talent, he's just a stubborn uncoachable a-hole. There's no other way to put it.

Originally posted by some idiot on the NBA Thread.....Garcia-Lomachenko at 135 is a bout I would pay to see. The odds of that happening in the near future are about the same as a resurrection.

All athletes have natural talent. But someone who gets hit that much without throwing doesn't have that much talent. His foot work is crap, and he doesn't know how to react to not getting off first. Also everyone legit has beat him, and I include Paulie in that. He was gifted that decision. He ain't Mayweather, either Sugar Ray, Ali or Tyson. He isn't even Manny.

I think, but correct me if I'm wrong, the point Docker was making was that Broner had all the natural talent & tools to be potentially talked about in the same league as some of the best had he not let the money/fame/hype he got when he was younger go to his head. At least from the outside looking in it seems like he is more concerned with a lot of things other than boxing.

"Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard."

That's what I thought I said but thanks for clarifying my point. I just didn't feel like arguing for something so small but glad someone got it.

Except he doesn't. He doesn't have those talents or tools and never did. What is exceptional about him, other then being promoted as the next Floyd? He has never shown anything exceptional in the ring. Not hand speed, not power, not footwork, not defense, not anything. He was the guy who beat up on cans, who were much smaller then him. That was his whole thing.

And this is exactly what what I was talking about earlier. People bought the hype for some reason, when he never showed a thing.

Tyson is a guy who had all the talent, and let it go to waste. He should have been the greatest HW of all time. Instead he was basically done at 23. Two other good example is Fernando Vargas and Kelly Pavlik.

Can't the same thing be said about GGG?

Believe it when I see it. Arum ain't letting this fight happen no time soon. Especially for a guy that left him. Same as Manny vs. Khan. Arum stepped in and stopped that. Won't happen. Fake news. :o

Who ran from Broner? Also, since when is GGG's power in doubt? The man hits like a truck. He broke Brook inside 5 rounds and GGG was "losing" that fight. Mikey Garcia moved up and destroyed Broner.

Wladimir Klitschko has announced his retirement. AJ will now have to face his IBF mandatory Pulev.
