The Dark Knight Rises The Official Character Costuming Thread...

Something tells me Nolan would go for practicality over sexiness.
That makes it sound like he would ditch sexiness completely though.

Now Im not bragging on your design, its very good, but its just too much. A little bulky. Mine though, it uses the same materials you used(neoprene etc), but its a little sleeker. I would like something like that more. Practical, but still sexy.

I think Nolan would still make the character sexy looking, but not to a Michelle Pfieffer degree, it will be more subtle coz going off his track record he is more than likely going to make something more practical to justify the character's need for the outfit. I find it unlikely he would go for open cleavage or shinning costume materials or big cat shaped goggles.

It can still be sexy. Skin tight w/o all the cleavage hanging out would be the right compromise b/w being sexy yet still functional. Even Lindy Hemming commented that the batsuit is "sexy." So I doubt he'll ditch sexiness.

I never siad she needed to show cleavage. I love cleavage and all, but I dont want her costume to reveal that much. The only skin that I want her costume to reveal are around the eyes and the mouth hole.

I have no idea what you just said.

My biggest piece at the time!! I am so proud of this, proud and tired . Ok, just need to say this is my version of Nolan's Bat-Rogues and heros, some, or maybe most, don't or won't appear in the franchise but is the way I imagine them

First Row (Down) From Left to right
HEROES

1. Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman)
2. Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine)
3.Comissioner James Gordon (Gary Oldman)
4.Robin/Tim Drake (Thomas Dekker)
5. Nightwing/Dick Grayson (Jonathan Bennet)
6. Batman/Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale)
7.Catwoman/Selina Kyle (Marion Cotillard)
8. Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gylenhaal)
9. Vicky Vale (Scarlett Johansson)
10. Reporter Summer Gleeson (Molly Ringawld)
11. Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Sigourney Weaver)

Row Two (Up) From Left to Right
VILLAINS

1.Penguin/Oswald Cobblepott (Bob Hoskins)
2. Riddler/Edward Nashton (Casey Affleck)
3. Two Face/Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart)
4. Poison Ivy/Pamela Isley (Emily Blunt)
5.The Joker (Heath Ledeger)
6. Harley Quinn (Kristen Bell)
7. Talia Al Ghul (Eva Green)
8. Ra's Al Ghul (Liam Neeson)
9. Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy)
10. Mad Hatter (Sam Neil)

I'm not a fan of some of the choices and their overall looks, but it's a nice piece of artwork, elgato.

When it comes to Edward Nashton/Nigma as The Riddler, I'm not a fan of the idea of him being dressed in a green suit. Unless it happens to be very, very dark to where only sometimes you see it as green. I'm not even sure it's necessary he be wearing green or have a bowler hat or even a cane. I'd prefer his character to be more psychological and mysterious than actually visual, where The Joker was both. There was a great fan poster made awhile back that I prefer his character be based.

Kudos to whoever made it --

If the guys from WB and perhaps someone realted to Nolan is checking the forums I think this would certainly catch their attention. Sounds like the way to go according to many of the posts.

First off, here's the pic for Ivy that won't freakin' post:

Second, they couldn't get The Joker's identity off of his DNA because he had no previous DNA or known whereabouts. The Joker, for the characters in the events brought on in TDK, came out of nowhere. He's so well hidden under the make-up that nobody knows who he might have been before, so they don't know where to start looking. In that case, his past identity has pretty much been lost... As of TDK, he had no other identity.

Selina would be easier to find considering she would likely have more recognizable features should the next movie stick closer to the comics (flowing black hair, incredible body, huge breasticles, etc.). Bruce would likely find out who she is pretty quickly, and be able to identify her through means of DNA tests.

In that regard, I would like to see Selina arrogant enough to be in that mindset of, "Even if you know it was me, you still could never catch me,"- hence the exposed cleavage, flowing hair, etc.

The dress is a bit OTT ( over the top if you didn't know what it meant.)
Yes but even though they had no info on his real name they could no which old citizen he was. Well at least gotham should have citizens of lost people.

As for Selina your right, your totally right! ANd i love the line you posted there that's just pure Catwoman!

I don't think The Joker was from Gotham in this series. They tried to portray him as, as they put it, "absolute", basically meaning there was no known information on him beforehand, therefore voiding any sort of actual motives or background. Without any of that, there is no DNA to match his own current strands of DNA found by the police. Almost as if they were combating a ghost.

Yeah, I think the dress is overdone, honestly, but I mean a toned down version of it. I think it also depends largely on how Ivy's portrayed. It'd be real hard to portray her (physically) closer to the comics, since it's not real easy to see a grown woman dashing around and causing terror to an entire city wearing a couple of leaves. I actually kind of picture Ivy, whoever it is, as a bio-terrorist wearing something similar to what Rachel was wearing when she was questioning Lau.

Oh ok that's why the wouldn't have any info!

I kind of like the one that Ivy is wearing in the manip that elgato did.

Do you like robin and Nightwing in elgato's manip ? I think that would be a good idea for the costumes.

Yes, a woman who spends nights jumping from rooftop to rooftop performing burglaries is going to have the softest and most sensitive part of her body exposed. All that, "shes' arrogant" and what not just don't work. Hell even in Returns she was well covered
So no boobies. Plus it would see chauvinistic on Nolan's part

Nightwing and Robin look alright, but I don't care much for Ivy's getup.

Well what do you think ivy should wear ? a Bikini ? Nylon ? Silk or what ?

I think elgato did a fantastic job of catwoman's suit not to bulky not to slim( made out of tights and lycra)

How so? Women do it on their own ALL THE TIME. Second, she does it in the comics? It's not all that implausible in either the comics OR the movies. Why wouldn't the arrogance angle work?

I'm not trying to use the arrogance as the reason for her cleavage showing. I simply thought it'd be a good factor for it and other things like it, such as the hair showing, possibly the way she goes about things throughout the movie, etc.

If you want to tell me that my idea sucks, at least give me a reason.

Lol, I said before I always pictured her wearing something similar to what Rachel did when she was questioning Lau. That is, if they go with Ivy being a bio-terrorist.

While I've posted pictures of the Adam Hughes Catwoman, which is the design I'd like to see of her costume, there does happen to be a zipper which can be pulled up to around her neck and does cover her cleavage. The only reason her cleavage is showing in some of the pictures is to look sexy for the covers. She tends to be fully covered when actually doing something strenuous.

Here, if it makes you feel better --

When it comes to Catwoman's goggles, I happen to like them. With the cat ears on her head and the goggles having a sleek, cat-like look, I think it works. Especially if you can add a little technology and have them be able to see in night vision and infra-red. It shows that she has a sense of humor and embraces the similarities between being a catburglar and being called Catwoman.

Just so long as she doesn't have a tail. That wouldn't look right to me.

haha the last one's me,
just for fun.
trust me, i wouldn't want robin to be asian either. that would just be silly.
although i'm sure there are those convinced he is asian due to the animated teen titans show.

but uhh...yeah, the first pic is how i would want to see robin's costume.

but then again, we should also take into consideration that this character will NEVER be in a GOOD movie. batman forever was the closest thing we will get to a good batman movie, but people hate that too. and batman & robin isn't worth talking about.
